Hi David,

I'm not familiar with this app.  Do you have a link to it?  Would you also mind generating a crash dump for me?  Please see this post for two .reg files that will enable/disable crash logging.

Thanks,

Chris

Hi Chris,

My Application do absolutly nothing

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>

<s:WindowedApplication width="300"

                       height="450"

                       title="MyHDRenderer (prototype version)"

                       xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"

                       xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx"

                       xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark">

    <fx:Declarations>

        <!-- Placer ici les éléments non visuels (services et objets de valeur, par exemple). -->

    </fx:Declarations>

    <s:layout>

        <s:VerticalLayout/>

    </s:layout>

    <s:Label text="Arguments : "/>

    <s:List width="100%" height="100%"/>

    <s:Button label="close"/>

</s:WindowedApplication>

And it works perfectly on my Window 7 x64. This is the reason why i suspect an issue with WS 2008 R2.

I'll contact my server admin to enable crash logging.

Ok, good to know.  The crash log might be revealing.  I'll also try and get a 2008 vm image and try it out.  You're publishing this as a straight forward .air file and installing the latest AIR runtime, right?

I just install a new WS 2008 R2 in a VM and it's works.

So it seems to not be an issue with 2008 R2 but a server configuration probleme.

I'm know waiting for my server admin and the crashlog.

Last AIR runtime yes.

I have a number of AIR-based applications installed on my windows 2008 R2 x64 desktop. One of them (snackr) is fine. The other two (Socialtext desktop and Chatter desktop) both crash at startup with a similar error to that reproduced above. These applications both worked fine for a while, but have been crashing regularly for a while. It might be down to a windows update, or possibly an update to the ARI runtime. Given that Snackr doesn't exhibit the problem there's obviously something that both these other apps are doing that's causing the problem....

@SPConnolly - did this just start occurring with AIR 3.4?  If so, do both of these applications use encrypted local store?

I've got two folders in the folowing location, so I presume the answer is yes

C:\Users\stephen_connolly.GPK\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\AIR\ELS\SocialtextDesktop.F9CDE29572F658B1290DD6C1043E9E4D9571903B.1

and

C:\Users\stephen_connolly.GPK\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\AIR\ELS\sfdc-desktop.0E7F0072024938CDBA99B20C38B5F315254C2A5B.1

The apps should just be font ends to web services, so other than login credentials there shouldn't be anything important in there I need to keep. I renamed the folders and tried restarting but I still get the application crashes for socialtext.Chatter Desktop now appears to be working again. Thanks!

Ok, please see this post for more details on the ELS failure with 3.4: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4656135#4656135

I'm surprised that Chatter Desktop started working, do you think this was due to deleting the folder or something else?

I think it must have been - nothing else has changed AFAICT. However the SocialText desktop is still reporting a failure, albeit a slightly different one.

Could you please open a new bug report on the SocialText crash over at bugbase.adobe.com?  Please post back with the URL so that others affected can add their comments and votes.  I'll also follow up internally.  We're expecting a new AIR beta release shortly, so we'll want to test against that too.
