Preflight option to detect 100% Blk Logo KO, but not type?

      Hello,

I am working on a custom preflight profile, that is doing everything I need, except one thing. OF course, the thing I thought would be the easiest.

We have a logo that is when 100% Black is set to Overprint. If it is Knocking Out, I want it to flag the issue.

Problem is, we have all this slug info around the page that always is black text knocking out and it finds all of these as well. Because it breaks it into little pieces in the postscript, it comes up with 100's of elements knocking out.

Is there anyway to isolate a logo from Illustrator only to check for the Knockout vs overprint, without if finding all the type too?

      thanks!

Is there a need to go to Postscript as opposed to Save As from Illy?

            Hi Daniel,

The only thing coming from illustrator is a black logo that has to overprint images and solid color banners at times. The PDF is made either from InDesign or Quark.

I wanted to create an option in a customized Acrobat Preflight Profile that I am building, that would flag only the illustrator logo knocking out.....unfortunately everything I have found, is for any filled object of 100% black, and is set to KO...And since our slugs generate automatically through a script,I can't change how the type comes out, and sadly, it is all knocking out. So, it shows many things knocking out that normally would not matter.

The profile is doing everything else I need it to do, so that would be my only change if I could have it do anything else. There is an option to check for images that are set to knockout as well, but then it finds every image....So, the 100% black fill is the key, but I would need an option that could distinguish between 100% black images and 100% black type, and I have not found anything yet to do that.

            I hope that makes sense?

            thanks!

If your PDF page boxes are set up correctly so the slug is outside the trim box, then you can set your check to ignore objects outside the trim box - there's an option on the bottom left of the check editor:

                HI Dave..

that would have been awesome. except our slugs are in the live area (even though we don't print them).

All files use a cropster and slugger plugin to make those elements, but all our files are places on 11 x 17 when created..This allows us to do other automation as well, since all the docs are the same size.

That would have been awesome ;-(

                thanks!
