I used the following method to load fonts for Adobe CS 5.5 specifically Indesign:
Then under c:\windows\system32 (delete the file fntcache.dat)
Do a search for ( adobefnt*.lst ) and del this
Have the user close out and reboot
When the user looks for the fonts they are not in the character panel, i have to go to the menu bar, select type, then font, then Arial, only one Narrow is selected but others are available but wont allow selection of them. Can anyone help?
Are you saying that you have copied a single font to six locations?
Take 5 steps backward. Install into the Adobe Font folders only in special instances where the OS does not support the font type, or to override an OS font; for Document Specific instances, use the Document fonts folder feature.
In the particular case of Arial Narrow, Microsoft changed the way the font family works at the release of (I think) Office 2003, so just putting the right font files in the right places won't necessarily get you what you want. Take a look at this link from InDesignSecrets and see if applies to your situation.
