          I cannot see how to include individual titles, descriptions and keyword for each page I have made with the template.

          The code does not let it be included!

          So all my pages have no titles or all the same!

          Help please?

            When you saved your original template file Dreamweaver should insert 'editable' regions in the 'head' section of the page. Does your template file not include these:

            <head>

            <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" />

            <!-- TemplateBeginEditable name="doctitle" -->

            <title>Untitled Document</title>

            <!-- TemplateEndEditable -->

            <!-- TemplateBeginEditable name="head" -->

            <!-- TemplateEndEditable -->

            </head>

              Thank you for your response.

              Not mine does not have this option at all I have CS5 and the template doesn't give 'doc title' options.

              I have tried to squeeze it in various places but it is thrown out when I try to save it.

              I have this at the top of the page:

              I have this at the end of the Head section:

              Many thanks for your help.

              Kind regards

                If your template .dwt file does not have these editable regions you can insert them.

                Open the .dwt file from which your other pages were produced.

                Insert the template region around the <tiltle></title> tag as below then save the file. It should update to all the pages produced from the template.

                <!-- TemplateBeginEditable name="doctitle" -->

                <title>Untitled Document</title>

                <!-- TemplateEndEditable -->

                Then do the same again.....insert an editable region around your <meta> tags.

                <!-- TemplateBeginEditable name="head" -->

                <!-- TemplateEndEditable -->

                  Thank you!

                  I have just included this code on the template page. I put all three (title, description and keywords) together in between the editable regions and it seems to have accepted it.

                  I now have just 400 pages to update to include titles etc!

                  Phew!!

                  Many thanks for your help.

                    400 pages and you're using templates to update the pages.....thats a Phew!!

                    Sounds like a bad idea to me. If you change a template region then you have to upload 400 pages?

                      I have 2 templates with about 200 pages made from each.

                      Isn't that the way to go?

                        Sounds like a maintenance headache.

                        Every time you update a Template, you must propagate the changes to 200 child pages then you must upload all 200 changed child pages to your server.

                        Are you familiar with Server Side Includes which make updating much quicker and more efficient?

                          Hi John,

                          No I am an over-worked novice!

                          Can you suggest a simpler way for me to update my pages and upload them?

                          Many thanks

                            Put in a little time to understand Server Side Includes (SSI) and you'll put hours and days back into your life.

                            This sample tutorial shows how to set up a Spry menu as an SSI

                            Plenty of tutorials via Google.
