Any Ideas on how to achieve this?
This design incorporates a rubber stamp that needs to remain editable. The stamp is coloured using swatches within InDesign applied as a fill to vector geometry and text – this is so the user can change the stamps ink colour by the swatches panel. In order to complete the effect some areas of the stamp need to be distressed to give an illusion of stamped ink on paper.
This template will have linked files, however the linked files cannot be manipulated outside of InDesign.
InDesign CS4 - v6.0.5
Would it work if you added Paper-colored vector elements (lines or areas) to simulate the »distress«, grouped them with the rest of the elements and set the Group to Multiply?
To be editable inthe document, the object must be a native InDesign object inside the file. You can either create it inthe document, or create it in Illustrator, then copy the paths and paste into ID. I would combine this into one compound path, I think.
If you want to be sure the position and size don't change, lock it in ID. You'll still be able to select it and change the color in CS4.
