Hi I'm trying to stop my flash animation at a certain frame (allowing the person to click a button to go to another page).
When I instert the stop code on a keyframe on my actions layer at the specified frame I want it to stop at it simply keeps looping my movie.
do you see an error message? does the movieclip with the stop() in it, loop? do you have any code affecting the movieclip that loops?
The second problem I'm having is making my menu bar like you would see and use on a website. You click the Home button and it goes to the home page. Can anyone please explain how to make this happen?
what's your home page? a frame in a movielcip timeline? an html file? something else?
I do not get an error message it simply just does not stop. How do I find out if it loops? And i'm not sure what code i'm looking for to find out if it's affecting it.
The homepage is just frames in the timeline. There is also an about us page menu page etc they are all created in one scene on the timeline (this is whats looping)
your "stop code" should look exactly like:
// does it?
yes it does.
attach a screenshot showing your main timeline and the actions panel with the last frame selected.
what actionscript is in the layer(s) below the one show? in fact, you should have all your actionscript in one layer.
remove all the code from the various layers with code and create a new layer that contains all the actionscript and only actionscript.
i do have a layer called actions. I am in the process of taking all the code and putting it on that layer based on frame (having some trouble but trying) it was a template and was not set up with an actions layer. each layer had it's own code in the actions. (which is more then likely why some of my standard coding isn't working ie. stop(); )
as far as the creating buttons to navigate to another page is it easier to keep it all in one scene or should i create a scene for each page?
just use one scene. there's never a need to use more than 1 scene.
there's shouldn't be any problem moving code from one layer to another: just cut and paste.
