Mylenium Mar 3, 2012 12:52 AM (in response to schwabby2)Check the help on how to create patterns and brushes from selections and look up any tutorial on how to create tiled patterns, then move on to how to adjust brush properties for proper spacing and how to create dual brushes to introduce variations. There's really nothing special here beyond taking the time to learn the techniques...

schwabby2 Mar 3, 2012 4:57 AM (in response to schwabby2)Did you happen to watch the video? I am an advanced Photoshop user, I know how to create patterns and brushes. Your methods are valid, BUT....I want a BRUSH, I can click on to paint on a pattern.....please watch the video, I would really like to be able to export a brush that I could use on other computers, like they have done here. These are brushes not a series of steps or even actions! No one else seems to have these, there are no tutorials that I have found. Thank you for taking another look!

schwabby2 Mar 3, 2012 5:02 AM (in response to schwabby2)One more thing....if you use the method you were describing with patterns and tiling and dual brushes...with these if you don't paint over a spot, then go back it fills it in perfectly! With the method you are suggesting it would start painting a new pattern not matching up with what is already there.

c.pfaffenbichler Mar 4, 2012 12:35 AM (in response to schwabby2)I have watched the video and you might be misinterpreting something.
With the method you are suggesting it would start painting a new pattern not matching up with what is already there.
So have you looked at the screenshots I posted?
In the third section I changed the Foreground Color and continued painting to illustrate that the Patterns do match up.
In any case, to me the technique seems redundant when compared to using Pattern Layers which maintain editability.
Plus painting repeatedly with the Texture Brush might cause build-up with soft edges.

c.pfaffenbichler Mar 4, 2012 1:57 AM (in response to schwabby2)Here are screenshots regarding those secondary brushes (»Twins«).
If one creates an equally dimensioned second Pattern one can choose that in Texture with the same settings and the two Brushes match up. (Again there is more than one Brush stroke for both elements.)
But what is the benefit you see?
If you want to transfer Brushes to other computers you could just as well transfer Patterns in my opinion.

c.pfaffenbichler Mar 4, 2012 2:32 AM (in response to c.pfaffenbichler)I may be flogging a dead horse … but here goes:
If one has set up Pattern Layers properly changing them in size or color can be a matter of seconds.
But me considering this an advantage may be owed to the fact that I work a lot for advertising – so I always have to factor in that both agency or customer may request changes to any element at any time.

schwabby2 Mar 4, 2012 7:07 AM (in response to c.pfaffenbichler)Okay, I played around with this a bit more, and I see where I was going wrong....you are right this works the way I want it to. Thank you! I am so grateful for your patience and my not understanding what you were showing me! A million than you's!
