Here's an obvious question: did you install the DNxHD codec?
Yes. I downloaded the free QT codec package from the Avid website. I have the most recent version (2.37) and every other piece of software that I have that accesses QT (all media players, Vegas Pro 11, Premiere Pro CS5.5, mocha, etc.) can both decode and encode DXnHD MOV files. The only problem is with AE CS 5.5. And AE will read Avid DNxHD MOV files, just not those from the Hyperdeck Shuttle2.
Another obvious question: did you download the appropriate codecs from Blackmagic?
I also have a BMD Intensity Pro, so I already have all their codecs installed. The only BMD codec that the Hyperdeck Shuttle 2 software installs is a QT uncompressed codec, since the recorder is capable of producing uncompressed files also.
Here is a small Hyperdeck Shuttle DNxHD MOV file that someone posted and you can download it, if you want to check it out with AE. You will need to install the Avid codec package that is refrenced in my previous post. If nothing else, having the codec installed gives you a free intermediate codec (it will encode also) that is only lightly compressed (220 Mb/s), 4:2:2 and 10 bit.
In any case, the problem is specific to AE CS 5.5, since all other software works fine. Besides, AE CS5.5 will read DNxHD MOV files, just not those produced by the Hyperdeck Shuttle 2. I think I will file a bug report with Adobe. Thanks again.
Did you find the solution for AEcs5.5 and hyperdeck shuttle 2 issues?. please I need your help. I have the same problem and i don't know how to deal with it.
I solved it by using AE CS6. But try turning off importing the audio tracks in AE settings. Apparently, some people had luck doing this and the theory was that AE CCS 5.5 couldn’t handle 16 audio tracks on import.
I solved it by updating Premiere from the help menu. Now the Hyper Deck DNxHD files imports just fine!
