1. Re: Backup Issue
photoseeker2 Mar 19, 2012 1:51 PM (in response to Images of RMNP)Your problem reminds me of our Backup problem reported on http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/unable_to_backup_catalog_in_lightroo m_4
When Exiting Lightroom 4, try selecting only one, or none, but not both, of the options for: "Test integrity" and "optimize catalog after backup"
Selecting both options failed the backup.
Maybe it is safer or faster to "optimize catalog" using File>Optimize Catalog command within Lightroom 4.0, but NOT during Exit.

Images of RMNP Mar 19, 2012 2:16 PM (in response to photoseeker2)Thanks for the suggestion. That approach seems to work. I'm looking forward to the first patch that they issue as this version of LR has had a few issues like this. Thanks!

Images of RMNP Mar 19, 2012 5:01 PM (in response to Images of RMNP)Just a note, when I tried to optimize using File>Optimize Catalog command within Lightroom 4.0 the entire computer completely froze. This is a new hard drive with a fresh install of Windows Vista 64 followed by Lightroom 4 and using my upgraded LR3 catalog. I had this problem originally on another hard drive during the first days of release of LR4 but thought there might be a conflict with other software causing these problems, therefore I bought a new drive and did a fresh install, but to no avail. Any thoughts on what could cause this? I have a very large LR catalog with 70k photos but never had problems with any of the previous versions of LR. Thanks!

Seán McCormack Mar 19, 2012 7:37 PM (in response to Images of RMNP)If you don't have an extensive Publish Collection set, you could try making a new catalog and importing the current catalog into it. By rights a catalog upgrade should have optimized the catalog anway.
