    Flash header I built for my website won't render on iPad.

    Dave Littlefield

      I'm aware of the fact the iPad doesn't support flash so I'm trying to figure out how I can detect an ipad visiting my site and provide an alternate html header. I'm sure there must be some code snipit I can add to my site but have not been able to find something. Any suggestions?

          Adobe recommends that developers use SWFObject2 for Flash Player detection. For more information see the SWFObject page at Google code (http://code.google.com/p/swfobject/).

          Information is also available on the Adobe Developer Connection Under "Detecting Flash Player versions and embedding SWF files with SWFObject 2"

            Inside your <object... tag (usually below all your params) you can put in content to be displayed as an alternative to the flash if it cannot be played.

            e.g.

            <object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" width="545" height="148" id="FlashID" title="Your Title">

                <param name="movie" value="movie.swf" />

                <param name="quality" value="high" />

                <param name="wmode" value="transparent" />

                <param name="swfversion" value="8.0.35.0" />

                <!-- This param tag prompts users with Flash Player 6.0 r65 and higher to download the latest version of Flash Player -->

                <param name="expressinstall" value="expressInstall.swf" />

                <!-- Next object tag is for non-IE browsers. So hide it from IE using IECC. -->

                <!--[if !IE]>-->

                <object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="movie.swf" width="545" height="148">

                <!--<![endif]-->

                <param name="quality" value="high" />

                <param name="wmode" value="transparent" />

                <param name="swfversion" value="8.0.35.0" />

                <param name="expressinstall" value="/js/expressInstall.swf" />

                <!-- The browser displays the following alternative content for users without Flash Player -->

                <div>

                    <a href="index.php" title="Your Title"><img src="logo-noflash.png" alt="Your Title" /></a>

                </div>

                  <!--[if !IE]>-->

                </object>

                <!--<![endif]-->

            </object>
