My predecessor took down the old server which hosted most of the Flash 10 installations. Unbeknownst to us it has been leaving registry entries and Add/Remove entries for each version where patching or upgrading Flash was attempted. So that means on Many machine Flash is totally broken, and there are 5 broken entries in Add/Remove.
Error 2753. The file 'InstallAX.exe' is not marked for installation.
I have also seen popups saying the old server path is required to uninstall, but that is not an option anymore.
I have tried:
I am obviously missing something, but this is becoming far to time consuming for something so standardized and lightweight as Flash ActiveX.
What do I do next?
Is the problem that you can't remove the previous versions or is the latest installer failing? Can you try removing the entries in Add/Remove using this Microsoft utility?
Both a manual uninstall, using package switches to uninstall, or letting an upgrade installer do the work all fail with the same error on all of the affected machines.
Did you try using the Fix It utility by Microsoft to uninstall? Can you post a copy of your install log? You might also want to try the msi version of the installer, enable msi logging and post that log too.
