1. Re: help regarding creating a piece of artwork around my car foglights
John Danek Mar 12, 2012 6:13 PM (in response to simpson246)You could take a photo and use that as a template. But, I would go a step further and take actual measurements of the fog light area for reference when building the file. There are also vehicle templates out there that may come in handy for something like this or check with a local sign shop that does vehicle wraps and see if they will give you a copy of your vehicle. They probably will for a price. Something to consider ( if you haven't already ), you will need to laminate the vinyl to protect it from the elements. Good luck, sounds like a fun project.

simpson246 Mar 13, 2012 3:03 AM (in response to John Danek)Thanks for the reply.
Once the image is taken, how would I be able to use it to draw around the foglight etc?
I've actually got one of the latest copies of vehicle outlines which doesn't actually include my vehicle which is right annoying.
I've got vinyl all ready and available for use on the outside of a vehicle so laminating wont be needed.
Thanks,

JETalmage Mar 13, 2012 6:14 AM (in response to simpson246)I assume the surface upon which the vinyl will actually be applied has at least some compound curvature. So just working from a "straight on" photo will likely need some tweaking.
You might consider just taking a piece (or a few small pieces) of your premask film, applying it to the vehicle, marking the design (or at least a few reference marks) on the premask film with a Sharpie, then peeling it off, flattening it out, scanning it, and using the scan as your tracing reference.
