It's possible the action file has been changed / corrupted.
Have you tried getting/downloading another copy of it from wherever you originally got it?
Is it proprietary or commercial? If not, is there a way you can make it available online? I'll be happy to try to load it into my copy of Photoshop CS5 12.0.4 to see if it's the file that's the problem.
Yes, I have tried that several times and still does not work. It is owned by MaxPrepSports so I really do not want to provide a public version of it. However, I would be happy to provide you with a copy. Let me know what email to send it to and I will send it to you.
I'll be happy to delete it after I've seen whether it can be loaded into Photoshop.
Just out of curiosity, exactly how did you try to load it into Photoshop? Did you try clicking on the little icon in the upper-right corner of the ACTIONS panel and choose Load Actions?
Tim sent me the action file, and I reproduced the problem. I now see what's wrong: The file contains a web page, not action information at all. Ths most notable piece of information from within it seems to be this:
The page you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.
This implies that the server is offline or that perhaps you got the web address wrong, Tim.
I just had this problem with Photoshop CS6. It was a very small (30K) and simple file. I opened the file, merged a couple layers, then tried to revert to the previous saved version of the file, and I got the message that the file was incompatible with the current version of Photoshop. Tried to reopen and got the same message.
I have not had any problems with file corruptions with any other applications. Meanwhile I have had Internal error messages and other bugs with Fireworks CS6, my Illustrator does not do drop shadows, and I had to de-authorize/re-authorize the licensing on my Acrobat because there was a bug in that. I pay $1000 for an upgrade and this is what I get?
If I honestly thought a re-install would help I would take the time but I think it is just poor software.
It doesn't sound like your problem and the original problem reported in this thread are similar at all, frankly, bethn.
Vis_01 reported a problem loading an Actions file, and what he had wasn't an actions file at all but some kind of web page stored with an extension of .atn.
Sounds like you're having a problem loading an image file. What kind?
I won't say Photoshop is without errors, because that wouldn't be true, but I haven't read about people having a lot of problems specifically of the nature of what you're describing. If you'd like to go into more detail, I'd suggest starting a thread, listing a lot of detail about your system and exactly what you did leading to the error. Perhaps folks here can make suggestions that will help you.
