Running Indesign CS5.5 (7.5.2) and every other day (sometimes twice a day), all of a sudden my toolbar will gray out. It's not that I'm stuck in Notes mode, or trying to do something that is available for that tool. The toolbar just grays out completely and only the TEXT tool is available. I have to trash prefs and restart to get it back. And sometimes that doesn't work and I have to do it several times, or add deleting prefs for Suitcase. (And no, I don't have Auto-Activation on in Suitcase.)
This is extremely frustrating. I'm sure it's some how related to fonts but it's not a particular project. I turn on/off fonts based on each project I work on.
Anyone have any ideas?
Sometimes when people say they've deleted preferences, they're not really removing the correct files. The most reliable way is to use a keystroke combination on launch. I describe that in this tutorial: http://pfl.com/trb
reset preferences. while indesign opening. press command alt shift on mac.
What operating system are you on, Cathleen?
