    Generalizing certain features of RemoteObject/method

    JackHombre Level 1

I've inherrited some code that's full of <mx:RemoteObject>s full of <mx:method>s which make calls to PHP functions on the server. I want to be able to generalize specific features of <mx:method> but I don't know how to do that. What I would have done is change all the instances of <mx:method> to <mycomponents:mymethod> and then have my own code process the result. That way, if I have <mycomponent:mymethod result="foo();">, then mymethod would first catch the result, process it, then call foo(). Unfortunately, I'm very green with Flex/ActionScript (most things I try to pioneer end up w/insoluble compiler errors and such). If this was C++ I know what I'd do: make use of virtuals, but from what I've been reading, it's impossible to customize RemoteObject/method this way. Is it?
