I have recentely, but I'm on a Mac. I would assume your PC will have no problem. When I import the BPAV folder, it brings the XDCAM-EX movies in as an MP4. You should be able to rock and roll with the footage right away. Just make sure when creating your project hit cancel when asked to set your sequence settings. Then import your files in the project window. At last drag one of the files to the new item (sequence) button. Hope that helps.
Thanks. I have a Mac Pro with dual Xeon and 12 GB RAM (bought 3 years back). Just wondering if it is wise to switch to a PC with an i7 Quad-Core CPU (that I'll build from scratch). I am a PC person and always biased toward it.
You MUST move your files to a hard drive, preferably a raid array for best performance. FCP transcodes files and creates new ones for you. Premiere looks at your originals when you import them
Buy this book so you know what you are doing with PrP or lots of gotchas will happen as you learn.
