You have to tell us how the renaming should work. Jongware asked you this in response to your original post.
Would you like your first layer renamed to Fred and your second to Barney?
app.activeDocument.layers.name = "Fred";
app.activeDocument.layers.name = "Barney";
Is that sufficient?
I am unable to log in and have not received an email from adobe. I have checked all my settings but no luck. That's why I created a newAdobe ID
But I see my email is working, yay! Here is an example of what I am trying to accomplish:
The original layer could be named: 2_TALL-0318-0324-AZZB
and the ones below it would be named: 2_SANT-0318-0324-GOCB etc.
The info I would need to change would be the first number and the 3rd, 4th and 5th atoms. For example:
Please remember that we're all volunteers here. If you can ask your question so we can understand it, we can probably help you. But if you cannot, it would take quite a lot of effort on our part to even determine what you asking.
Jongware wrote in the other thread:
This is quite a specialized case so it's unlikely there "is" a script. But there "could be" one. Ask in the scripting forum, as there are some people in there sharpening their skills with such requests. Make sure to detail what you need it to do: which layers? rename to what? Et cetera.
You're not doing a good job on detail. How would the script know what to change your first, 3rd, 4th, and 5th "atoms" to?
You have given us no information that I can see.
I have no idea how the script would know what to change. That is why I am asking for help. Did you not see the example of what needs to be changed?
I am well aware that everyone is volunteering. I am not new to forums just this one.

You are doing this manually right now? Well then, how do YOU know what layer to rename to what?
Did you not see the example of what needs to be changed?
I did see, and it is useless. It is so useless it is offensive.
You have not told us why the script would change "0318" to "0506." Why would it do this? Should it add 188 to the number every time? Should it multiply every number by 1.59119? Should it change every number to 0506? Why?
Answer the parallel question for every single detail of your post, please.
