3. Re: Encore CS5.1 hangs during DVD Disk Build
Derek Emmett Dec 18, 2012 12:15 PM (in response to setaspell)Hello,
were you able to resolve this issue? I have a similar issue with Encore CS5.1 and it looks like this.
-Build project in PP and use Dynamic link into Encore.
-Encore works great until I click on the "Build" button.
-Once I click on Build I only get a white box and no fields inside it.
-Encore at that point is locked up.
-All other programs and Adobe applications in Win7 work fine while Encore is completely locked up.
-When I try to kill Encore process, it never ends, and system must be forced to shut down.
-Production Premium CS5.5 is up to date.
-When I simply open Encore with no project (or empty project), and just try to add "Build" to my Encore tabs within the tool, same thing, complete lock up of Encore. Other applications
work fine in this mode, but system must be forced reset to kill Encore application.
-Win 7
-Adobe Production Premium CS5.5
-Nvidia Qudro 4000
-16GB
If others have help on this issue I sure would appreciate it!
Thanks
Derek...

Stan Jones Dec 18, 2012 12:30 PM (in response to Derek Emmett)The original poster for this thread could build to DVD. Is that true for you?

5. Re: Encore CS5.1 hangs during DVD Disk Build
Derek Emmett Dec 18, 2012 12:51 PM (in response to Stan Jones)Hi Stan,
-my process is 100% through Adobe tool flow.
-I have not tried any third party tools.
-I get a blank white box by simply clicking on "Build" from Encore, and Encore is completely dead at that point.
-When I click on "Build" I don't even get a single option for how I'd like to build, just an empty white box, which can't be closed.
-I've used PP and AE without issues. This is the first time I've used Encore in my suite, and of course wanted to use it to author DVD's and Blu Ray.
-Encore worked great in creating menus, and chapters between video and still picture content.. Just does not want to build or get the point of checking content.
Any ideas? I searched through other postings, but have not seen what I'm getting. Is there anything to this Roxio driver issue, or putting Encore in Admin mode? I even found things about Quicktime?! My Quicktime is current, and I'm not sure if I even have Roxio on my machine, but can check that later. When I did go look for the online Roxio driver that folks were pointing to, for similar issues, I did not see it on Roxio? Do we need to search for it on their website with a particular key word? In my case I can't even get to selecting what I want to build, so I'm thinking there can't be a driver conflict at this level of issue I'm having..
Thank you
Derek...

6. Re: Encore CS5.1 hangs during DVD Disk Build
John T Smith Dec 18, 2012 1:02 PM (in response to Derek Emmett)I do not know if there is a Roxio problem with CS5 or later, I only know that it was REQUIRED to update the Roxio component in CS4... and, yes, you have Roxio as part of Encore
http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1108754
Yes, running as Administrator DOES matter... http://forums.adobe.com/thread/969395

Things and Software to AVOID when authoring/burning a DVD... says Encore, but alsoapplies to Premiere Elements and disc burning

Plus http://forums.adobe.com/thread/562941
.
Create an ISO (Encore) or folder on your hard drive (Encore or Premiere Elements) andthen use the FREE http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download to write files or
folders or ISO to disc for DVD or BluRay (send the author a PayPal donation if you like
his program)
.
Imgburn will read the ACTUAL disc brand from the disc, which is not always the same asthe box label (Memorex is notorious for buying "anything" and putting it inside a
Memorex box)
.
When you write to disc with Imgburn, use the SLOWEST possible speed setting, so yourburner has the best chance to create "good, well formed" laser burn holes... since no
DVD player is required to read a burned disc, having a "good" one from a high quality
blank will help
.
Use Taiyo Yuden single layer or Verbatim Two layer Or Falcon Pro for inkjet printableTwo layer

7. Re: Encore CS5.1 hangs during DVD Disk Build
Stan Jones Dec 18, 2012 1:06 PM (in response to Derek Emmett)Are you saying that you click on the build panel tab and get this problem? The original poster could get into the build panel; it was clicking on the "build" button that created the problem.
Yes, try the run as administrator.
I would not worry about the sonic/roxio driver issue. This is not the symptom of it, and it should have been updated through other processes. It does not require you to have any sonic/roxio applications installed; microsoft uses it.
Remove any blank disks from DVD/BD recorders/players on your computer.
See #12 in the list here:
Troubleshoot damaged projects in Encore on Windows
I worry that you will need to reinstall.

Derek Emmett Dec 18, 2012 1:19 PM (in response to Stan Jones)Thanks Stan.. I will try what you and John have given me, and report back!
-Yes, I'm simply just clicking on the "Build" button, and blam, Encore is dead! I have never been able to get into the build panel!
-No disk in system at time of testing build.
Thanks guys!

10. Re: Encore CS5.1 hangs during DVD Disk Build
Derek Emmett Dec 19, 2012 10:28 AM (in response to Derek Emmett)Hey John and Stan... Well, I have a stupid story for you.
I went through the feedback you gave me and systematically tried each idea in the threads you gave me. By the way, "Crash" means I get a white empty build box window immediately after clicking on Build or ISO:
-I put Encore in Admin mode => crashed when trying Build or ISO.
-Made entire project with small names without spaces or different characters => crashed when trying Build or ISO
-Updated pxengine => crashed when trying Build or ISO
-I put Encore in Xp compatibility mode => crashed when trying Build or ISO
-At this point, after 8-10 reboots, I'm thinking of swallowing a gun.. I'm so completely convinced that there is no DVD in the burner, or even why that would make any difference at this point.. I eject the drawer and there is a music CD in the drawer! I removed the CD and tried again...... And finally..... I get to the Build window!
-Burned test DVD and it worked great.
-In my "stupid is as stupid does" case, I would still think at a minimum the Encore tool would have told me to remove the incorrect media, and not completely crashed Encore?
So I'm up and running again, thank you both for trying to work with Forest Gump! I did of course see the note "Remove any disk from recorders". : )
Cheers
Derek...

Stan Jones Dec 19, 2012 11:38 AM (in response to John T Smith)Stupid is as stupid does - it just has a ring to it. Not that it applies to you anymore than the rest of us....
And I am certain that there is no disk in my recorder, but if I looked....?
That suggestion was related to an error when there is a BLANK disk in the recorder - how much sense does that make!
