Do I have to use the worthless software provided by Canon (Pixela) or can I import my videos into Premiere Elements 10 or Premiere CS5?
You absolutely should NOT use the Pixela software to capture your video -- unless you plan to edit it in Pixela.
You should first ensure that the 1920x1080 video you do shoot is 60i. Do not shoot in 24p, if you plan to edit your video in Premiere Elements.
You should then start up your Premiere Elements project using project settings for AVCHD 1920x1080 stereo.
Then plug your camcorder into your computer and use Premiere Elements' Get Media/From Flip AVCHD or Hard Disk Camcorder to port the video from the camcorder onto your computer and into your project.
