Why does it think it is Japanese?

    claudiaog70

I am confused as to why this is happening. I created this form in windows and the recipient has a mac.  I have enclosed a screencast for your review.http://screencast.com/t/3KdYkabt

      thank you.

Have you checked the PDF fonts to see what fonts are being used and what ones are embedded? What font is being requested for use by the fields?

            Hello Bill,

I am a novice about acrobat. Those were forms I have created in word and another that I scanned.  Then, I just uploaded them into acrobat to create a fillable form.

            Thank you,

In Acrobat, use ctrl-D and select the font tab to see if the fonts are listed as embedded. You can embed them using a preflight script. You might check the properties of the fields to see if they are set to use a Japanese font. Some place there is likely a hint at the Japanese need. Have they tried to use the form by clicking cancel on the warning?

More than a screen shot. Interesting. There are a few fonts that are not embedded, but those are typical Adobe fonts. You can embed them still if you like and it might help others. Since it is a form, you might try to edit the form field. If you can not edit it in Acrobat, then it may be a Designer form. If you can edit the field, then check out the font that is being requested for use in the field. That may be where the problem lies.

If possible, it might be good to post the actual form for us to look at. Can't be sure I will find the problem, but there are others that are experts with forms. The first question is if it is a form or a basic PDF problem. Also, it could be related to the versions of Acrobat and Reader folks are using. I am not a MAC user, so I have a limitation there. It might be that the other folks are not using Reader, but the MAC reader. George Johnson comments about the MAC reader in a few recent posts.

I assume you are posting from e-mail. The forum does not allow attachments and so they have been removed from your post. You will have to post on another web site, such as Acrobat.com.

OK, I commented on the files you sent me. As mentioned, it appears that the fields on the first page have a strange font that is likely the issue. I also commented on the limitations by the license for activating Reader Rights and fonts in general. Bill
