'parentApplication' is out of scope. You should see an exception. Don't you see it?
To change the current view, you might wish to use something like
So if i change this
currentState = "Logged In";
It would change the view stack window to the dashboard one.
Ah, sorry, yes, you need to fix my typing error.
Ok I made a few changes to the code but now when i try to login i get the following errors any ideas
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
at mx.rpc.http.mxml::HTTPService/ http://www.adobe.com/2006/flex/mx/internal::dispatchRpcEvent()
at mx.rpc::AbstractInvoker/ http://www.adobe.com/2006/flex/mx/internal::resultHandler()
All what i want is when the user logs in to go to the dashboard component screen
The docs tell this:
The parentApplication property of an Application object is never itself; it is either the Application object into which it was loaded, or it is null (for the Application object).
Are you sure, that the parentApplication is in fact non-null?
Furthermore, are there any reasons why you use parentApplication anyway? In general this property is only useful, if you created a new application context inside the root application context.
As long as you only reference stuff in your own (local scoped) application, I don't see good reasons to try to use parentApplication anyway.
The only thing i want this application to do is when the user logs in the content will change to the dashboard. Thanks for all of your help by the way justria. I am just loosing my head over this once i get this done the rest is easy for me.
I finally got it my friend i really really appreciate it.
Good to know!
