You can do this in Bridge. Not the greatest in flexibility but gets the simple jobs done.
Irfanview has a better one.
Photoshop doesn't play sideshows. I think most of the image viewers nowadays do that. Just open an image from a folder with images and look for slide show button on the image viewer that comes with your system. If you are creating a special presentation slideshow with bells and whistles like, more control, custom transition, etc, you need a specialized slideshow program. Search for latest reviews of slideshow software.
Bridge works quite well IMO. Plus you can sort through and select pictures by scoring them on the fly. I used to be jealous of a buddy who used Lightroom to do this when selecting pictures until I realised Bridge can do the same thing.
For SlideShows, I use Adobe Premiere Pro, or ProShow's Producer, depending on how I need to deliver. For mots Projects, PrPro is my tool of choice.
