When recently starting Encore I frequently get the message "The program can't start because MSVCP71.dll is missing from your computer. Try re-installing the program .....". I have re-installed to no avail. I have a dedicated editing PC with Windows 7 64bit. When "clicking away" the message about 6 times, Encore will start and function without a problem. What could have screwd up my Windows installation? Is it critical, as after all I get Encore started in the end. Went onto the internet and it seems to be a quite common problem. Would have expected that Microsoft would have included a fix into their frequent updates, if they consider this to be their problem. Any suggestions?
Search your C: drive, I think you can find the file under Program Files (x86)\Adobe...
Copy the file to C:\Windows\sysWOW64 and your problem should go away.
Have you installed the Avid DNxHD QuickTime codecs?

In addition to the destination locations described in the above link,
you should also copy the same two files to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Encore CS5
