I am trying to design a book cover using Photoshop or InDesign. I am having trouble with setting up the guide marks for my bleed and the spine. The book size is 6x9. The calculations with the bleed and spine comes to 12.763 width and 9.25 height. I may be okay with the bleed guides .125 all around but I am NOT sure where to put the guides for the spine which is .513. ANY HELP YOU CAN PROVIDE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED! Thank you so much for your time and any reply backs ;-)
I'll often set up a cover as a single page the width of the back/spine/front, then set the number of columns to 2 and the gutter to the spine width.
I'm with Peter on my setup.
I take it too far; if the book is 6 wide, in document setup I enter 6 + 6 + whatever my spine is; I let InDesign do the math.
If the page count is not finalized, I enable Layout adjustment. Adjusting for the new spine width in Document setup forces the spine to the new width, and the front and back cover art snaps to the new outer margins.
Yeah, I do the same -- but Daniel,
if the book is 6 wide, in document setup I enter 6 + 6 + whatever my spine is; I let InDesign do the math.
That doesn't work in my CS4. Is it finally "improved" (= fixed!) in the latest version?
