External VGA monitor - does "Adobe Player" send it sRGB?

A very basic newbie question about what colorspace gets sent to an external monitor.

Context: Running Premiere CS5.5 on Windows 7.  I connected an external monitor, and in Premiere, under [Edit > Preferences] I accepted the default "Adobe Player" then under [Sequence > Sequence Settings] I selected the external monitor for output.  This works fine, as far as I can tell by eye.

Questions: I'm guessing what's being sent to the monitor is sRGB, but can anyone confirm that is definitely the case?  To send it other kinds of colorspace e.g. Rec.709 out I guess I would need some other kind of "outboard" video output device, such as Matrox, is that right?
