Their are plenty of known issue of word 2007 with the Indesign cs4 ,however most them have been fixed in cs5 and cs5.5, refer to the link
however you can save the file back to word 2003 format from word 2007 and then place in indesign CS4 and you not gonna face these issues.
What problem EXACTLY. You’ve only given us very general information.
And while the import of Word docs is not perfect, most of the issues go back to the old saying “garbage in, garbage out”
We are using MS Word 2007 on PC's and importing docx files into InDesign 4 on Macs. The most frequent problem is that nothing appears in the target text box. Instead of displaying Import Options ( The box to do that is checked on) the screen flashes once and nothing is placed. However certain test documents from MS Word 2007 on a PC, saved as docx files import correctly.
I understand that many other people have had problems between docx files and ID 4. I'm trying to determine if upgrading our company from ID 4 to 5.5 will solve the problem we are experiencing. Having run ID 5.5 for about 24 hours, I'm inclined to think it handles docx files a lot better. I'm looking for a bigger sample before I make and upgrade decision.
Do you see the overset marker on the bottom right of the target text box after you have placed the docx file in it?
These is no oveset marker and ID4 has failed to execute the step "Display Import Options" correctly. I'm quite sure there is no content in the text box.
