Welcome to the forum.
Are you on a PC, or a Mac?
While not an ideal format to edit, WMV Import is supported on a PC.
What OS are you using, and which version? The reason that I ask this is that before Vista, MS included about all of the WMV CODEC's, with the OS. With certain versions of Vista, one had to go to the MS Web site, and download the Vista CODEC pack, to get them all. Not sure if the MS CODEC's have been put back into the OS installation for all versions of Win7.
Last, how does that WMV play in Windows Media Player, or another player, such as VLC, or MediaPlayer Classic HC (both better than WMP in my opinion).
I’m on a PC with Windows 7. My wmv plays in the Windows Media Player.

Thanks for that info.
As WMV is fully supported in PrE, and as your WMV plays fine in WMP, I cannot imagine what the issue would be. There are a couple of WMV CODEC's, but all should be installed on your system, and PrE should be able to use them all.
Maybe someone else has an idea, or has seen such behavior.
