I will be using my new pc mainly for adobe premiere pro cs5.5 importing 1080p DSLR footagte and cutting nativly.
Not sure weather it would be wise to Raid 0 my 2 x 1tb 7200rpm drives or not. In short which setup would I get better performance with? If I raid the two 1tb drives what should I use them for?
This is my drive setup at the moment.
C: 128GB Crucial M4 SSD (OS and Programs and Pagefile)
E: Seagate 7200rpm 1tb hdd (Media and Projects)
F: Seagate 7200rpm 1tb hdd (Previews and Exports)
E: Seagate 7200rpm 320gb hdd (Media Cache)
1.5tb external drive for storage
Mboard Asus x79 pro
Ram G.skill Ripjaws Z 16gb
Video Card Geforce 9600gt (upgrading to 680 GTX soon)
Thanks in Advance!!
You will not experience any noticeable performance gain from raiding those two disks. With more disks things change. If you want to improve your system, double memory to 32 GB, especially since you have the pagefile on the SSD. The less that pagefile is used, the longer the SSD will last, because of the limited number of write cycles.
Thanks very much!
Just purchased another 16gb of ram
