I would like to know the exact language settings that make correct english syllabications in my german InDesign CS5.5 document.
When I just change the dictionary (Wörterbuch) to "Englisch: Grossbritannien" there are some automatic hyphens in the wrong place.
As far as I know "ins-pected" is false. It should divide like this: "in-spect-ed".
I would appreciate any help.
You are changing the wrong thing. All that "Dictionary" does in the Preferences is let you set specific settings for each language, it doesn't change anything in existing text.
All you need to do is make sure the proper language is assigned to your text:
http://help.adobe.com/en_US/indesign/cs/using/WSa285fff53dea4f8617383751001ea8cb3f-6f4da.h tml (esp. "Applying languages to text", but you might want to read the entire page)
I did this before but the paragraph didn't apply the format I set.
I didn't realize that, now it works (alt+click...)
Everything is fine now, sorry for the false alarm..
Thanks for the link & have a nice day
