Macbook Pro OS X 10.7.3 Optimisation

      Hello everybody,

I have a Macbook Pro OS X version 10.7.3 and I would like to optimise my machine to get the best performance when using Premiere Pro and After Effects. Currently my machine has 4 GB of RAM. In Premiere's preferences it says that Premiere has 2.5 GBs RAM to use and 1.5 GBs reserved for other applications and it says the same in After Effects.

I have wathced this video; https://my.adobeconnect.com/_a295153/p75599259/?launcher=false&fcsContent=true&pbMode=norm al but I'm not very technical if I'm honest and a lot of it went over my head. I should add that I don't have any funds to buy any other hardware at the moment, however I am saving up to get more RAM, which shouldn't be too long.

I was just wondering what software and system settings I can change currently to get the best performance out of my Macbook, with out putting too much strain on the machine.

      Thanks people
