Hi. I don't understand why you are applying the bg by using actionscript instead of adding it through mxml properties to the Application, unless you have a reason.
Please tell me how to do that?
If you are using Flex builder then from the Design view click on the background to see its properties in the right pane. Then select Alphabetical View to see all the properties. There you should see the backgroundImage.
OR use this
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<mx:Application xmlns:mx=" http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" layout="absolute">
But my problem is the picture.gif only 1 inch and I want to repeat it in the background.
Ok, you mean you want to make the background look like a tile with the same picture repeating?
init() gets called, one the creation of the app just finished. Then the mx:Label is already 'on stage'.
By calling his.addChild( u ), the new Shape/UIComponent gets added to mx:Application and thus in front of everything else, which would be visible at that point.
You might not wish to this.addChild( u ), but to add it as the first child using
Yes I have designed a .gif and i want to use as tiled background and then I want to put link bar and some text on top on this background.
You could build a bigger tile texture in photoshop and add it. Of course you could do it programmaticaly with a for...loop that adds the bitmap to the application.
