    Installing Flash Player on Kiosk(s)

    Sajid Azmi

We are OEM Software house for Kiosk Machines, who develops applications software that runs under embedded Windows XP SP3

operating systems.  Our application can run Flash Movies (SWF), but need the Adobe Flash Player installed on the system.

Some of our customers use transparent objects in the flash movie files, which requires the latest version of Abode Flash Player 11.

The base version of Abode Flash Player which comes with the Windows XP is version 6.

Our customers cannot download and install the Adobe Flash Player from the Kiosk Machines.

We need to advise them how to apply for the License to Distribute Adobe Flash Player,

the cost for the license and the procedure to install the Adobe Flash Player on the Kiosk Machines.

The option we're looking as asking our customers to apply for the Adobe Flash Distribution License and then obtain the installable

version of flash and install this on the kiosks.  But as I was reading the EULA, it list 'kiosk' under the prohibited devices - note our Kiosk

runs windows xp, but we cannot dowload and install the flash on these individual kiosk.

      from the EULA ...

"Prohibited Devices. Distributor shall not distribute, download or embed any Adobe Runtime on any non-PC device or with any embedded or device version of any operating system. For the avoidance of doubt, and by example only, Distributor shall not distribute any Adobe Runtime for use on any (A) mobile device, set top box (STB), handheld, phone, game console, TV, DVD player, media center (other than Windows XP Media Center Edition and its successors), electronic billboard or other digital signage, internet appliance or other internet-connected device, PDA, medical device. ATM, telematic device, gaming machine, home automation system, kiosk, remote control device, or any other consumer electronics device, (B) operator-based mobile, cable, satellite, or television system or (C) other closed system device. For information on licensing Adobe Runtimes for use or distribution on devices see http://www.adobe.com/go/licensing."

We need advice from Adobe to instruct our customers how they can obtain the flash version and install it on their kiosks.

      Regards
