    Build evaluation, please

Comments, please, on this proposed build, for editing AVCHD and AVC Intra (100mbs-150mbs).  Note that some choices reflect what's available at the builder's (e.g., the brands of 570 GPUs, Kingston RAM).  The system will be used for PP6, possibly AMC 6 and Resolve Lite.

      - Antec Performance One 280 case (because it's supposed to have sound insultation, for quieter performance?)

      - Coolmaster Silent Pro 1000w

      - Asus P9X79 Pro

      - Intel 3930K

      - 16MB Kingston Hyper X KHX1600C9D3K8/32GX Quad Channel RAM Kit (this RAM is 1.65v and the part number is not specifically approved by Asus, but 5-star reviews on Newegg, with the Asus Mobo)

      -  Intel BXRTS2011LC High Performance Liquid Cooler

      -  either MSI N570GTX Twin Frozr III PE/OC GTX 570 OR  PNY GeForce GTX 570 1.25 GB (the MSI runs cooler?)

      -  1 Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM003 1 TB  (system drive)

      -  2 or 3 Seagate Barracuda ST2000DM001 2.0 TB

      -  Acer V243HAJbd 24" LCD Monitor OR  Asus VE248H 24" LED LCD

      -  Windows 7 Pro 64 bit

I'm pretty sure it's not terrible, but any comments?  Thanks.

WD blacks are better 5 yr warrnty but seagate is quieter

If that is a dual GPU card, it is a waste of money FOR PREMIERE PRO

PPro will only use one GPU for hardware MPE

You really don't need a 1T drive for your system... Win7 and all your software is only going to use something less than 100 Gig... as long as you have your Win page/swap file on a different drive

My 3 hard drives to edit AVCHD are configured as...

            1 - 320Gig Boot for Win7 64bit Pro and all program installs

2 - 320Gig data for Win7 paging swap file and video project files

When I create a project on #2 drive, the various work files follow,

so my boot drive is not used for the media cache folder and files

3 - 1Terabyte data for all video files... input & output files (*)

(*) for 4 drives, drive 3 all source files & drive 4 all output files

Search Microsoft to find out how to redirect your Windows paging swap file

The MSI geforce 570 has two fans (not two processors), and runs a little higher in price than the standard 570....  Whether it's worth it, I don't know.  With respect to system drives, the price difference between large and small drives is small, and the larger drive does offer space for media backups.  Anyway, that's my thinking.

Personally for only $110 more I would go with the GTX 680 more video memory, more cores, and less power.

I love those new Seagate drives I have run single drives, dual RAID 0 drives, quad RAID 10 drives, they are the fastest drives aroundHD-Tune-2-GB-SATA3-write.jpg
