In order to create a Scatter brush you'll have to select at least one path object on the scratch area.
If you haven't selected anything the option will be greyed out.
Thank you for that hint, Kurt, but that still doesn't work. I don't even have the option to SEE any scatter brushes in the fly out menu on the brush panel options. Any other ideas? Anyone?
If there are no Scatter Brushes in your Brushes palette/panel, you may have corrupt preferences.
You may try to Move the folder with Illy closed.
Have you had them? If not, you may consider reinstalling. If you do, and if you have CS3/CS4/CS5, you should use the Cleaner Tool.
Your response inspired me to start poking around and watching videos because I couldn't figure out what I was missing. Apparently, I had NO scatter brushes in my libraries, hence the reason the option to view scatter brushes were greyed out. As soon as I started creating brushes, that view option became available and all is well in my scatter brush land now. Thank you.
And, Jacob, thank you for going further in depth with the answer. I do believe that everything has been resolved since I am now able to see them, create them and use them.
For my part you are welcome, Angie.
