I have a problem with Text boxes, which I frequently use for small flowcharts, etc. After I create a bordered or shaped textbox and subsequently re-position it on the page the text within the frame changes position. What I mean is, lets say I make a rectangular textbox and initially place my 1 or 2-word text inside the textbox perfectly centered. Then I realize 5 minutes later I need to nudge the textbox a bit for whatever reason. What often happens is that the positioning of my text within the box changes (or disappears ), forcing me to re-size the frame. This is so irritating! Is there any easy way to ensure that my text positioning remains consistent as I move the whole text frame? I've been researching this problem for years, believe it or not.
Thanks for any help you can give me.
It sounds like the text is set to align to the baseline grid. Change that.
Thanks, but how would I re-align the text?
The above screen capture is of the paragraphs panel, but you'll find the same controls in the Control Panel in Text mode (though you may have to switch to Paragraph from Character controls, depending on how wide your screen is). You want to set the text NOT to align to the grid, that's the circled button on the left. If you are using a paragraph style for the text, make sure Align to Grid is not checked in the style definition.
