You said that you have 55 page book....In Indesign the book is the collection of the indesign document.
May be you have the single document of 55 pages which you are stating as the book.
If this is right then we would like to know the File Extension of the document , is it "indd" or "indb".
It is .indb
I had orginally opened the file as a book because it's an ebook so I thought that was what I was supposed to do. It seemed to be asking me to open other files so I started a new document and made it 55 pages. I saved over the .indb file, but it must have still kept that extention. Is there anything I can do to retreive the files?
first of all make the 2 copies of the files....
One copy do all the troubleshooting and keep the second copy safe.
1) Rename the INDB to INDD , try and open it.
2) Create the new document and then try and place it .
I renamed the extention, and it worked! Thank you SO much!!!!
I have a file that I did not create and I'm having the same issue. The file extension is .indb, I renamed the extension to .indd and it did not work. Same error.
A "real" .indb file is just a collection of pointers to .indd files. Changing the extension won't help.
How large is the file?
