I recently picked up a CANON VIXIA HF G10 and have been shooting in 24P/HD with manual settings in order to get a "cinema" look. When I play these files (.mts) in Windows Media Player, they run just fine. The problem is, when I import them into Premiere Pro, they will sometimes run okay on the first play-through but then begin stuttering on the second go round. I've experimented with very short (15 second) clips and it does the same thing.
I updated my laptop to Windows 7 64 bit--as well as my RAM--to meet the system req's for Premiere...I can't figure out for the life of me what to do here...
Has anyone else seen this and been able to deal with it?
Thanks for any advice.
Unless your laptop is specifically designed to edit HD video, you are not going to be happy
Some ideas for a Laptop Video Editing PC from past discussions
For effective HD video editing, a laptop with the following
-at least the Intel sandy bridge 2720 or 2820 quad processor
-and nvidia graphics preferably the 460m, 485m is a bit much
-1280x900 display with OpenGL 2.0-compatible graphics card
-and 8 or 16 gig ram and Win7 64bit Pro
-and 2 internal 7200 HDDs minimum
I think I figured it out actually. When starting a new project, I was selecting HDV instead of ACVHD for the input. Seems to be working much better now.
