I have a PNG that is exactly the size (2000 x 389 px) I need for a site I'm assembling , with the right sized small "boxes" in it. It came with a Project Seven pack. However, I need to change the color from its current red to #FF9830 (orange) and shades thereof.
Don't see how to do it in Fireworks. Hue/saturation filter sort of does it, but imprecisely as to color control.
Would appreciate advice.

Instead of Hue/Saturation, try a Color Fill effect (available within the same Adjust Color category) and set the Blend mode to something like "Hue" or "Color". Be sure to apply this from within the Properties Inspector—not the Filters menu at the top of the interface—so that it's applied as an editable effect that can be re-tweaked later on, if you need to.
I had not thought to look in the Property Inspector for that. I found that using Color Dodge gave me the best result.
Thank you very much for the prompt assistance!
