i think the photomatix one looks better from the colors (subjectiv i know).
but it´s nice that LR supports 32 bit tiffs and the color in LR could still be edited.
the LR looks "crisper" and not so muddied in the dark areas of the trunk.
i think i have to play with my 32 bit files and LR a bit.
I intentionally went for a slightly cooler (blue-er) look in the new version. So which colour cast you prefer is obviously a matter of preference, but there's no denying the crispiness of the LR version.
Interesting. I can never control Photomatix as well as I would like to give unhaloed realistic renderings. This looks like it might be the way to go for HDR that doesn't make babies cry.
Actually, I think I may have been wrong there. I believe I actually used
Photoshop to develop the old version. Even so, I prefer Lightroom's output
to anything Photomatix would produce.
