How are you exporting the pdf, are you exporting to "PDF interactive", is the buttons and media radio btn set to "include all"? lets start there...
Yes, I'm exporting it to "interactive pdf" and the "buttons and media" button is set to "include all".
I've done now some further testing ond different PC's:
It still works perfectly on Adobe Reader 8 (and on Foxit btw), but it won't work on Adobe Reader 9 and 10 or on Acrobat 10.
ok: its in how you prob created the button....
Lets say: you create a blue filled square, then r-clicked>interactive>converted to a button, edited the appearence states etc... then you probably also r-clicked>interactive> new hyperlink... selected url, and typed the web page... http://www.xyx.com. This is your problem.
You need to open (if not already) the buttons panel. select the button, then click the + next to actions, select goto URL and type the address in the UI box that appears.
Then export as discussed. It should now work in Acrobat 10
Thank you for your reply Grant but that doesn't work for me.
The function of my buttons is only "show/hide buttons"
And I did create them I used the buttons panel.
I mean I can click on those buttons but the function is gone! And what bothers me the most is that it works perfectly on Reader 8 but not on Reader 10.
It would be helpful if you could post the file somewhere with a link so others can try it out. Also, the InDesign file so we could see how you constructed the buttons.
I'm sorry, but I can't do that. That file contains company data and it's supposed to be for internal use only.
By the way:
I've tried exporting it to .swf and all the functionality worked perfectly.
Maybe my file has too many layers to function properly? But why would it work with an outdated Reader version and not with the new one?
are you exporting with create acrobat layers checked?
Can u post a screen shot of the btns panel with a button selected?
well theres ure problem...
you are targeting "total1", but telling the document to hide it, and the action to hide it as well... ill post a screen shot of how the panel should look...
gimmi 10 min.
Maybe I should tell you first what it's supposed to do?
There a seven buttons like the one called "Total1".
and all these buttons have two states "pressed" and "not pressed", the "pressed buttons are in the second layer", the "not pressed buttons" are on the first. That means the two different states of each button are actually two seperate objects.
The document opens with the "Total1" pressed, all other buttons are not pressed. So when you press another button, i.e. NP1, all other buttons are shown in the "not pressed" state and NP1 will hide and NP2 "the pressed" will show up.
um: trying to make sure i completly understand what you mean... (without the file hard to guess)
but here is a screenshot so long.. my hide all btn visability is X'd out... and will change the visability of the other btns.
here is a link to the PDF
thank you so much for your effort. But I have to say that that's not the solution for my problem.
You see my interactive features work perfectly with Adobe Reader 8. But with the Reader 10 it jsut won't work.
I've created a pdf for you to see but I ripped it off all its former content:
and here's the .indd file
You see, I want the buttons if clicked appear in another state and show a different Picture.
And now it even seems to work. But when I tried it again with all the content the pictures won't change anymore
