Coldfusion Builder 3: Tag Editor, does it exist?

I see in the help file for ColdFusion Builder 2 that it used to have a tag editor. The keystroke doesn't seem to do anything and I can't find anything in ColdFusion Builder 3 that resembles a tag editor. I am new to ColdFusion Builder as I have been using HomeSite for a long time, but finally decided to make the jump. I am really liking everything I see, but the one thing I am having a hard time with is being able to do standard HTML, like loading an image tag in an editor and choose a picture and it will pull the width and height for me. Or being able to just drag an image onto my code and have it create the image tag with the link.

I have searched around the program and finding nothing, can anyone shed any light on whether this exists or not? If not, what is the way I should get used to.

Right now I see that I can press Ctrl+Space when I am on existing image file name in a <img > tag and I can double-click to open the file editor, but then I have to double-click on the filename and it just inserts it in between my image text, so then I have to modify the text, and then I need to open windows explorer and properties on the image so I can get the size and then update those fields.

Thank you for any light you can shed on this, because I really do like the editor now. I did try CFB2 and it was crashing and clunky so I kept using HomeSite, but now I think I will make the change.

unable to deactivate previous coldfusion builder 2 installations

I can't activate an installation of ColdFusion Builder 2 because it says I have two adjacent installations of CF Builder on two other computers.

The two other computers disks drives were erased before CF Builder could be deactivated.

So, it still thinks they are currently being used.

What can I do ??

Is CFBuilder dropping FTP synchronization, or is it just not part of Thunder yet? Or should I install some 3rd party plugin. Yes I know FTP synchronization is old school.

When I try to open a large file having 2700 lines of code in CF Builder 3, it becomes completely unusable and in the task manager showing Not Responding.

CFB3 Question: How can I add an existing cfm page to a project? I created a project and copied a file into the project folder but I can't seem to find a way to add the cfm file into the project.

CFBuilder 3 syntax coloring is not working for nested tags, why did I miss?

CF Builder 3 RDS Failures

When I start my local CF11 server from within CF Builder 3 (installed on same server as CF Builder) I routinely get this error in the Server console window and then can't debug anything:

My Coldfusion 11 server is running in a virtual machine.

When I add a server I enter following data:

Server Name: CF KOV

Application Server: CF+Tomcat

Host name: 192.168.0.100

Webserver port: 8500

Select 'Is Remote'

This will add a server which status is 'Stopped'.

When I read the manual of Coldfusion Builder 3 I see that I have to start a Admin Server Instance with adminstart.bat
This adminstart.bat isn't installed.

Where can I find this bat file?

Should I stop the service 'ColdFusion 11 Application Server' and all other Coldfusion services?

While installing COldfusion 11 I used the option 'Server configuration' and not the 'JEE configuration'

CF Builder 3 Debugging

When debugging in CF Builder 3, there is a dialog that pops up asking how you want to debug. The choices are 'ColdFusion Application' or 'ColdFusion Client Applications'. I am never going to choose 'ColdFusion Client Applications'. Is there a way to always run as 'ColdFusion Application' without having to select from this dialog every time? CF Builder 2 would just start running as soon as you hit the debug button without a dialog popping up. I guess I'm wondering if there is anyway to get CF Builder 3 to work the same. Thank you.

I've been a ColdFusion and Flex developer for way to many years now. Pretty much turned that horse into glue if ya know what I mean. Thing is I really like CF so I want to keep developing my business applications in that language. Problem is I've never really developed responsive web sites nor have I made extensive use of CSS.

I'm currently playing with Muse and ReFlow and love what they do. My only question is there a suggested workflow path for creating website designs in Muse / ReFlow and import them into a CF project?

If not why not?

ColdFusion Builder 3 Code Coloring Bug

I encountered what I believe is a bug within CFBuilder 3 (standalone and Eclipse plugin) where code coloring breaks after you insert a comment in a function with named arguments. To replicate the issue copy/paste the following code in CF Builder:

argument2 = "bananas",

argument3 = "blueberries",

argument4 = "pineapples"

) />

You should see argument3,argument4, and the closing bracket are colored incorrectly. If you encounter the same issue and you'd like to see this fixed please feel free to vote for this bug here:

How to turn off automatic variable code suggest for a single page?

Does anyone know how to turn off the code assist feature where CFBuilder tries to assist you by listing all the variables on the page? I have a CFC with over 3000 lines and it causes CFBuilder to hang/freeze like you wouldn't believe. I'd like to turn off this feature for large files (or at least see if I can tune the feature to be smarter about what variables it suggests).

Does anyone know how to disable this feature on a specific template or turn this feature off altogether? Note: I do want to keep the tag attribute suggestion if possible.

CFB 3 Freezes when I edit a particular file

I thought CFB 3 was going to be good for me, but the more I use it the more I am finding strange behaviors. Lately I have one particular file that is quite large that keeps crashing whenever I try to edit it. I have to open that particular file in another program and make my changes. The rest of my site is working well so far, but that page (Coldfusion Component page) makes CFB 3 hang forever. I have to force a shutdown.

If anyone knows, where can I pull up any log files that will help me know what might be the cause to help submit a bug? I would love to get this fixed, but not sure how to reproduce or find what caused it.

when i try to create Apptacular generation with Mssql 2008 and msAccess : on CfBuilder2.0.1

Message:Element IDENTITY.IDENTITY is undefined in a CFML structure referenced as part of an expression.

this issue written on Github by the apptacular app creator, and has some solutions(not clearly described as solution) and app writers solution didnt worked for me...

I need correct solution, if its possible by correct files?(2 years ago this product was same condition and purchased it 2013 february, its has still same error...)???

I have to admit that I am greatly disappointed with CFB 3. The loss of something as simple as FTP synchronization is ridiculous. The time I have spent trying to find a work around has been fruitless. The eclipse RES plugin has a bug, so it doesn't work. Installing the Aptana plugin is somewhat functional but you are constantly jumping between views to code. The built in "import/export" feature is a sad excuse for FTP synchronization and generally doesn't work. Code hinting is hit and miss, loss of word warp and the list goes on. Further more, the interface is not intuitive and help documentation is spotty and less then helpful.

I've installed CFB 3 as an eclipse plugin (which runs faster and smoother) as well as stand alone. Both being a vast disappointment. To further my disappointment, it's quite apparent that no one from the CFB team monitors or responds to any posts on this forum.

I feel like this is a really simple and stupid question and should be easy to figure out, but I can't.

I am relearning ColdFusion after 12 years out of the IT field. I am using the ColdFusion 9 Getting Started:Volume 1 book. In Chapter 7 it states that I need to edit the Application.cfc file so that I can edit the database rather than just selecting from the database. I can't seem to find anything related to that file in any search. In my ColdFusion 11 Administrator I have set this mySQL database to be able to be edited, but ColdFusion Builder 3 doesn't seem to allow any editing of the tables. I have not had much luck searching for help regarding this on the internet either. My biggest problem so far is getting ColdFusion Builder to talk with my mySQL database properly so I can actually get on with relearning ColdFusion and writing code. Frustrating!!

Some help required please.

We have a current set up with CF9 running on a win 2003 IIS6 server, also on the same server is CFBuilder 1. My 'production code' lives in c:\inetpub\wwwroot and my developement code that is viewed in CFBuilder is on

ColdFusion9\wwwroot\codeDevelopment. The server I have set up in CFBuilder has a document root of ColdFusion9\wwwroot, this all works fine and has been for about 3 years.

We have a requirement for a 2nd server, so I bought us CF11 and CFbuilder 3 - after a terrible time trying to get these both working on the same server as I have the current set up I have given up. Also, most of our sites have heavily chart based. After discovering the differencies to the CF11 charting engine vs CF9 it was another reason to give up.

So - I have decided to deploy a 2nd CF9 installation.The new server this is on is a win 2008 R2 (64-bit) running IIS 7.5. I have CF9 (32-bit) working as it should and now want to add CFbuilder so I have an environment that matches the current one.

I can install CFbuilder 1 with no issues but I cannot seem to start the server. Because I have IIS on this box I am choosing type 'other' not Jrun when I am adding a new sever. The question is how do I start this server ? It cannot be started from the CFBuilder app, so how do I start it ?

Or - am I going about this all the wrong way, should I be setting up my environment differently, am I making life difficult for myself. I will confess I am not a developer and have been 'getting by' with this over the past 3-4 years. When I set this up at first, this just seemed a reasonable way to set it up - should I be doing it differently ?

Any commect / help appreciated.

I have been finding the editor flags some valid syntax as compile errors. This is working code, so I'm not sure why this editor is flagging them as errors. Our team was hoping to add Cold Fusion Builder 3 for our Devs, but it is proving troublesome so far.

The line below shows up as an "Invalid Token" compile error:

The line below says "Invalid Token Component"

Also, it would be great if there was documentation on getting RDS working and also remote debugging on Apache or IIS. The very limited documentation uses the easier localhost examples and most are from 2009.

CFB3 New install gives trial expired notice

Win 7-64bit, CF 11.

Tried installing a new download of CFB3 ( 8/21/2014 download ) and came up with a "Standard edition trial expired" problem. I participated in the CFB3 alpha and beta, but never tried the released version. Is there a way to completely clean out CFB3 so I can try the released CFB3?

I don't have the exact text of the error message right now, but for the last couple of weeks, on a nearly daily basis, when I launch CF Builder (v2) I get an error that says I don't have the adobe application manager installed, and my builder has been crippled to a 'lite' version or something. I then re-re-re-re-re-install the application manager, re-launch builder, re-input my serial number, and things are fine, just as they previously were for several years. The next day, however, I am likely to be told once again that I don't have the application manager installed, and have to repeat this process.

Obviously, this is extremely frustrating. Any suggestions? Anyone? Please?

ColdFusion Builder 3 RDS and Remove Server settings reset on each restart

I have CF Builder 3 Trial installed as standalone application. Every time I restart CF Builder, the RDS mapping settings for the remote server I have are gone and also the remote ColdFusion server I set up is gone and I need to recreate it. Is there anything I can do to prevent that from happening? Thank you for any help on this issue, so far I spent few hours searching for a fix but can't find anything.

I've downloaded the ColdFusion Builder 3 trial and am experiencing some odd and very annoying behavior.

I've customized some code editor text font and color settings. I've added an entry to the CF Servers panel for an instance of ColdFusion 10 running inside a VMWare virtual server on my laptop.

When I restart Eclipse, all the code customizations I've made are reverted back to the default install settings and the entry in my CF Servers panel is gone.

I've been an IntelliJ user for well over a year, but in doing much more cfscript-based development the CF Plugin for IntelliJ is proving to be a hindrance so I thought I'd give CFB 3 a try and see if there were any improvements over CFB 2. However, I can't take this kind of behavior. Hopefully someone can give me a setting or someone else has seen this before and can give me an idea of where to start looking.

I have CF Builder installed as a plugin into Eclipse Kepler 64-bit for Mac. I added the CF Builder update site and have updated to CF Builder 3.0.0.290000. I also previously installed as the standalone version with no additional plugins and experienced the same behavior.

Anyone have any ideas?

I just recently updated to..

Version: 3.0.0

Build: 290423

When I conduct a search on my workspace, I get the results based on the matching string. {good}

When I click on the line item for a particular file from the search (results) panel, the file (File A) opens and the queried string is highlighted. {good}

Among the search results, are references to other files the string was also found. {good}

If I click on the line item for another file (File B), File A closes and File B takes its place in the main file edit panel. {bad}

Previously, "clicked" matches from the search results would open the file and add it in the edit panel as a new panel. With enough screen real-estate I could compare files. However, any file opened now from the search results replaces any previous searched file.

I hope this is not a bug, but rather just some preference that needs to modified.

I went through the Sync settings and now I don't how to change or delete the FTP servers

I installed CF Builder 3 and wrote a "Hello World" scripts. But when I clicked "Run", it looks for "ANT" builder. I clicked on the two ANT listed, and return error says "No ANT file is found".

Can anyone help me?

BTW, I am new to CF.

Are keyboard shortcuts broken on CFB3 on OSX for anyone else?

Hitting command+t displays the shortcut list but hitting a key does not fire off the shortcut. Clicking the shortcut works but not via the keyboard.

I have several licenses for ColdFusion Builder 1 and I also have upgrade licenses for ColdFusion Builder 2. I have a new team member who needs to download ColdFusion Builder 2 to make use of this license. Now that ColdFusion Builder 3 is release, all of the downloads links I have been able to find point to the new version. Where can I find a download link for the previous version for which I have a valid license? Surely there is an archive download somewhere, but I cannot find it.

Is anyone else not getting any results from CFBuilder 3 File Search?

When I click on "File Search" the search box appears, I enter the search criteria and it finds nothing. I have installed a standalone search product in the meantime but it's a real pain to get out of builder, run the search, and then pull up each file to make changes. Any idea what this problem might be?

There are 3 changes from CFB2 to CFB3 that are pretty annoying and I am wondering if anyone has a fix?

Word-wrap has seemed to have disappeared. It is no longer in preferences in the same place, nor any other that I can find? I have found an eclipse plugin to take care of this for now, but wondering if there is an official way to do this within CFB3 or was this an Aptana feature that Adobe decided not to implement in their rewrite? I would think word-wrap to be pretty basic functionality in an editor...
In Outline View I always set the filter to CFFUNCTION only. When using cfscript based components, the outline view is polluted by any javadoc comments you may have. There is a new toggle button available: "Show Function Only" but it defaults to off and so you continually need to click this button for every cfc you have open to hide the mis-parsed comment detritus. Very annoying. There must be a way to either remove these comments altogether or at least have that toggle feature stick to on?
Continuing in Outline View: there now seems to be a maximum viewable width to display functions. The view now truncates function names with an ellipsis no matter how wide you make the Outline View. This makes the view completely unusable with longer function names... especially where those function names begin similarly... I cannot find any settings to alter this?

I am running CFB3 as a plugin on 64-bit Kepler on Win 7 and Win 8.1 64-bit.

I used too use Services Builder a lot to generate my CFINVOKE code. I can no longer find it in Builder 3. Does anyone no where it is?

In CB3 I just noticed that Javascript code assist does not assist locally created parameters and functions!

Is there a fix for this or do I download Aptana plugin?

When installing Adobe ColdFusion Builder 3, I found an URL that describes features available in the Express Edition. Knowing I'd need to discuss the differences I typed the URL in the browser, a clickable link would have been nice, and received a generic Adobe error page.

Change code tab width preference

I am using CF Builder 3, and for the life of me I can't find how to change the tab width in the code formatter. It is defaulted to 4 spaces wide, but I prefer 2 spaces. And I use tabs, not spaces, for indentation. In the preferences I found 2 or 3 different places where I could change the tab display width, but none of those changes fixed the displayed tab width in .cfms and .cfcs. Am I missing something, or is this a bug?

Check for Updates not working

Is anybody else not able to use the "Check for Updates" tool under the Help menu? Adobe said that a CFB3 a bug I had filed is fixed now, so I wanted to try it out. But I can't get the built-in updater to work. I get this:

I'd hate to have to uninstall CFB3 and reinstall the new version...

Is it just me or is the ability to use the internal browser not in CF builder 3?

The 2 buttons at the bottom of each page that used to be there aren't anymore, does this mean I have to use a separate browser window?

Hi I just upgrade my Flash builder to 4.7 version and I'm thinking to upgrade my Cold Fusion builder from version 1 to version 3.

I have never used Cold Fusion builder in the past and I thought I will start using it now.

Should I upgrade to version 3?

What are the difference between version 1 and version 3?

Integration of Google Translater API into CFML Code

I need to retrieve some data from a database using CFQUERY, and then translate that data into another language (so Spanish, Chinese, etc).- The Google Translator will be sufficient for now since the data is simple instructions - not a long article.

The Javascript function that Google provides causes a dropdown menu to appear when the page is loaded. I want the translation to take place automatically, having selected the language on a previous page.

#googtrans can be put in the URL to translate the whole page. However I only want to translate the database content - not the entire page. So, for example, part of the page would be in English and the other part (from the database) in Spanish / Chinese.

I found a good article on this on a blog some five years old. However it is evident that Google have changed their API since then, and so the blog code no longer works.

Can anyone cast any light on this?
