secure zone registration form

Hi,

I have a web form for a secure zone registration linked to a secure zone. I want to stop the user being redirected to the secure zone after completion of the registration form and just to view the default completion system page. When I unstick the edit properties box on the web form i.e. remove link to secure zone, it is then not showing up in the secure zone section in site manager therefore how do I link the person completing the form to a secure zone?!!

Can anyone direct me to information on integrating specific CRM fields into a media document? I have a marketing subscription website and am trying to implement a simple 'web to print' function for specific marketing materials for my subscribers. I've created the additional fields in the CRM database for photos, etc; however am trying to figure out the best approach for the end result which is inserting their personalized information into the form for printing.

I have access to Adobe CC so if there is a recommended software to create the marketing template that will interface with the CRM database in BC??

I have an individual domain that my client is advertising publicly, but for SEO purposes we have built his website on another domain. We need to 301 redirect the advertised/public domain to point to the website domain. So, website is built on builderschristchurch.co.nz (which will incur Google rankings) and the advertised domain is buildit.net.nz which simply needs to redirect to builderschristchurch.co.nz (the website domain).

So i have just upgraded BC from web basic with Creative Cloud to E-Commerce.

When i log back into BC i go to add a secure zone and all i see in the list under Site Manager is Web Forms, and System Emails. Where is the rest of the list? How do i get the full listing that you get when you start a free trial?

we have a website where customers in a secure area order multiple times per month.

we need to send out a statement at the end of the month to these customers that have ordered. The info in the statement should be like invoice number + invoice date + invoice amount in a summary statement for the month.

is there any way to do this in BC?

FYI, I was looking for a quick way to determine which frameworks the BC offered responsive templates used. Chat support was unable to immediately help but has a ticket out on this question. In the mean time I looked at the HTML so I thought others might be interested in this quick list as of 2014/06/30:

Updating Exsisting Domain Name Servers Process?

I have an existing domain set with external name servers. When I originally set up the domain in BC Admin I went for the no mail option and simply updated the A records to point over to BC.

I would now like to updated the Name Servers to point to BC so that all mail is coming through the BC system.

I understand how to do this by updating the DNS records with BC's name servers.

My question is:

Do I also need to log in to BC Admin - Site Settings - Domains and amend any details here?

Do I perhaps have to delete existing Domain info and start again?

Any advice would be very gratefully received

Im trying to basically recreate this site functionality: http://brclubs.org/news.aspx

Each item has an image and when the link is clicked it goes to a news article or blog item. So if I could set a "featured image" it could be in the list view of the blog module and show like it does on the site i referenced.

I know its possible through a webapp but webapps can automatically syndicate.

I would like to make an ecommerce site where an owner for a product, could log in and make their own product on my site.

So each "product owner" could change their own products but not the other ones.

Then i've would simple display all the owners products.

How could this be done in BC, could you make a user role that only allowed you to make a product for yourself?

Hi guys,

Need some help adding a custom price to my shopping cart.

Is it possible to add a price (same currency) to all individual products.

Because I wont be using Shipping I thought I could set it up as a shipping cost but i'm not sure how to charge a shipping cost for each product.

Is there a way that someone can kindly show me how to add a separate cost to the cart that will display something like this (below)?

As you can see the cost is adding to one product because its setup as shipping.

Is it possible to do this? I'm sure I saw this just recently but I can't find any information telling me whether it's possible or not.

I found information talking about filtering between News and Events on this page Modules | Quick reference and tried this from what I read there (my own customization of the code) , which has a category's id at the end, but it hasn't worked. I was hoping to get the calendar to display just events categorized with the selected id number.

Hi guys,

I have a question regarding the free partner portal website you get supplid with when you 1st start using Business Catalyst. Would I have to use this website for strictly selling BC packages/features to others? Or could I, for instance, promote my Graphic Design/Photography business on there? I've read some of the T's & C's, but I'm still not sure where the parameters lie.

I was also wondering, if I'm limited to 'reseller only' type activities, could I not just make myself my own client and 'sell' myself a 'webbasics+' package and just not touch my free website what so ever. Or would that be tinkering with the rules?

Getting Errors setting up BC Email

Hi,

I'm receiving an error message when trying to set up an email address with Business Catalyst.

The primary domain for this website is www.weddingphotography-temecula.com and I also have anthonydavid.photography setup to be the "Default Domain" for Email as this .photography domain is being redirected to the primary website domain. I'm not sure why i'm getting this message?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm sure it has something to do with the MX records but for some reason i'm totally lost.

We've noticed our google rankings and DA have dropped recently and when we run google tests it looks like a speed issue on our site.

Pingdom says our site is slower than 84% of websites.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to improve the speed of our site or somewhere I can find this info for BC sites?

Muse overwrites any SEO title Tag or Description changes made in Business Catlayst. Is there a work aorund to this? The sites do NOT merge or Muse does not detect the changes made.

I need to contact someone at adobe in order to change my MX records.

I used www.godaddy.com in order to buy my domain and I also use there email package.

When I tried the recommended way by adobe to host my site it worked but it caused me not to receive emails.

I had contacted godaddy who where very helpful and they have told me that I needed contact adobe and get them to change my mx records as they change automatically when I try to upload my site.

I have tried calling adobe but it is impossible to get anybody on the phone.

Any recommendations for me to be able to contact someone in order to change the mx records????

Error when trying to create emails. My whole company's emails are down!!!

I really really hope someone can help! I have a ticket filed with BC...no Chat seems to be available. I am freaking out!

When I originally became a BC partner I knew I could not make my partner site a real .com domain website until I had a paying account under me. That being the case I went ahead and registered, and paid for one. Dont ask me why I did it, but I goofed and built my partner site on the wrong account. I built it on the account that I had paid for.

I was able to move all files, web-aps, blog posts ect over to the correct partner account. I was even able to move and activate the domain on my partner account. The site is live and working just fine, but when I moved the domain it forced me to delete all of the email accounts I had created there. No big deal right? I had everyone download all emails, and then I went ahead and did it.

The issue is now it will not let me add the email addresses onto my partner site! I am getting the following error: Account details for this user can only be updated via the site where it was first created.

My entire agency's emails are now down, and I have several large clients that often email us on the weekends. I hate feeling helpless to be able to do anything but wait on adobe to get around to my ticket! We are all very panicked over here. Does anyone have a good work around?

When a user is logged in, is there a good way to show, hide, or disable content? For example, when a user is logged in, is it possible to show a replacement of content on other page, such as: instead of the log in form, they see a button to go to the secure page (not shown to those who aren't logged in) or replace out with a content holder specific to them? Or... if they are already logged in, they don't see the button for having to log in? Any suggestions for this would be appreciated.

I am looking for a solution for my website , I am using Business Catalyst as platform to create the website. I am looking for simple one code/plugin/HTML solution which I can copy paste in the website for the translation. I want to put google translator with flags on my website in the top right hand side. I want to translate my website in 9 languages and want to put 9 country flags on the top right hand side, which translate languages on click event on "same page" , I want the translation must take place at the same page after clicking on the flag. How-ever I successfully integrated google translate with dropdown option but want to integrate google flag translations on my website.

Hi all,

The BC Gurus tutorial on Dynamic Menus and how to style them with CSS made no sense to me, unfortunately. The presentation was too rushed and the screen too small to see what was happening.

In a previous question I found out how to apply CSS classes to BC menus after a bit of a run around.

I was putting the # in front of the Item ID name and a . in front of the class name and this was not necessary.

I have further questions though, as I am still struggling to get a BC Dynamic menu to style properly with the CSS I have created.

1. If you choose CSS as the menu type, can you set the font, background colour and rollover state of the menu items in the Dynamic menu section? Or do you have to style it all in the CSS stylesheet?

2. If you choose CSS as the menu type, the option to say how the submenu sits under the root menu disappears. So do you need to set this in the CSS stylesheet? And if so in which element? UL or LI?

3. If you choose CSS/HTML only, how is this different to the option of CSS for the dynamic menu?

4. If you choose CSS as the menu type and if you set a width and height in the menu item, and then set a different width and height in the CSS stylesheet, which width and height wins?

5. If you want a dynamic menu to show on an Android phone, do you have to choose CSS/HTML only and do all the styling in the CSS stylesheet? Or should you avoid dynamic menus all together and just use a UL list in the template? (I am doing a responsive fluid grid layout in DW for the template).

6. I am finding that the dynamic menu I have done, with CSS as the type, does not show and hide the sub menu items properly on an Android phone. Is there a problem with the javascript in Dynamic menus?

The main template loads the "header" template and teh header template loads a module inside settings
called "logo". This file however is not editable and therefore theres no way to change the logo.

Hi everyone,

I'm having trouble implementing properly my cloudzoom script.

I have all the js and css files uploaded and the cloud zoom works when I put direct href links in. My problem is I want to code the 'Individual Product - Large' Module sheet so that each product uses the 'Large Image' and 'Poplets' associated with whichever product the costumer clicks on.

This is my product page right now -

If you scroll down you can see that the cloudzoom is working but I want to replace those images with the images and poplets at the top of the page. I also need to disable the existing lightbox js.

two sites on one BC site (2 Domains)

I want to run 2 sites one will be a food shop and the other will be a drinks shop. I already have a BC site (the food one) but I want to split it into 2 different sites with different branding etc.

All the invoicing will be done in the same place but I just want 2 domains that point to different folders in the site eg. myfoodsite.com (mysite.com/food) & mydrinksite.com (mysite.com/drink) but the domain name needs to stay the same myfoodsite.com/index.php and mydrinksite.com/index.php.

please let me know if this is possible and if it is, how would you go about it?

Is the information in this post regarding forwarding/redirecting a domain name accurate?

Particularly:

"Note: This process requires you to add the domain name first in order for the system to recognise it. Then you delete the records and create the appropriate redirect."

The pages look different and I can't find the redirect option after I delete the domain - New Forward

Initially,

I had setup the domains to Forward to the default domain, in Site Domains > Edit,

but this did not seems to be working,

the site showed up under the secondary domains but the url in the address bar of the browser stayed as per the secondary domain,

should this not switch to the default domain?

Then I saw the article above and this one, specifically the "Forward all domains to the default" section:

which made me try to delete the secondary domain - and then not see the New Forward option mentioned.

I am using the "Use an external DNS server" option for the domains, as the client has email setup via another system and are worried about moving it.

Any hints?

How do I set username as email when submitting form on Contact-Us page?

So I'm managing a website with a weird problem. If someone goes to the Contact-Us page and submits a form with their info including email, then they get into the system with that info. If they then think that they've registered, they go to the login page and can't login, so they try to retrieve their password. In doing so, an email gets sent to them to reset a password they never had. In this email, it says:

"You requested that your password be reset.

Your username is .

Click on the link below or paste it in your browser to reset your password: ..."

They can then follow a link, set their password, but still cannot login, because they have no username. If they then try to register, it won't allow it, because a user with that email and an associated password exists. The weird part is that if they fill out a registration form and use the same password as the one they "reset" to, they can give themselves a username, effectively registering in a very roundabout way. This is fine, but I'd like a user to be able to get unlost in all this mess a little more easily.

I was thinking that if I merely set their username as the email they gave in the first Contact form, then if they try to reset their password, the email sent will tell them their username is their email and they will be able to login after "reseting" their password.

I've tried adding a hidden field to the Contact form with the name "UserName" and a value that is set as theForm.EmailAddress.value (EmailAddress being an existing, visible email field) but this doesn't seem to have done the trick. In looking at the Contact form versus the Registration form, they both appear to use the same action="/FormProcessv2.aspx ..." as well as onsubmit="return checkWholeFormXXXXX ..." where checkWholeForm are functions that are very similar. I can't seem to figure this one out, anyone have any ideas?

Understanding BC - templates & number of accounts

I am new to BC and I'm getting really frustrated with not being able to find answers to basic questions. There seems to be lot of information about BC out here and also on the BC site, but I just feel that the information is very disorganized. Sorry for venting

I currently have 11 sites that I manage. Sites were completed using Dreamweaver and some in WordPress. I have only 2 sites that are eCommerce sites and the rest are brochure / informative sites.

Currently I use GoDaddy to host my sites under one account. If I move over to BC how will this benefit me? If majority of my clients have brochure sites, how will they benefit being on BC?

Also, does BC convert old sites - that are not Responsive Sites - into a Mobile Site or do i need to re-create those sites?

Furthermore, not being able to finding a clear answer to this question what really frustrated me...Since, I have 11 and soon to be more clients, when I sign up for an account - do i need to create a separate account for each of my clients and pay separate monthly amounts? OR like how I manage them in GoDaddy, can I with BC manage ALL my clients under one account?

The templates. Where do I find templates for BC? I have a two customers right now that they have purchased templates through Monster Templates and would I be able to use that on BC? If so, do i move the entire template over first to BC and edit it there OR should I edit it in Dreamweaver and than move it to BC?

New BC Forum (Community) is Sluggish, where is previous saved bookmarks and other data?

The new forums seem really sluggish to me compared to the old system. Will this be improved?

Also, my forum account had numerous discussions, bookmarks, etc. None of there are available now. Are they gone or am I missing something?

An alternative to using Recaptcha or Image Verification

Some clients may not want to use ReCaptcha for some reason (like it looks awful and can be hard to read for some customers).

I came up with this after getting spam using the standard BC Image Verification (which looks nice but wasn’t really working for me). The spam stopped immediately (for now) possibly because it stopped spammers pasting in an email address.

How it works

In this example I simply require the customer to input their email address in two parts, leaving out the @ symbol.

The two parts are joined using javascript and sent to the hidden input with the ID ‘EmailAddress’.

You will need to add two new text inputs to your form. You do not need to create these new input fields in the BC form builder. Just hand code them into the existing or new form. Remember this form has no Recaptcha or Image Verification (if you already have Recaptcha or Image Verification modules in your form, go back to the BC form builder and remove, then get the new HTML to work with).

Note that the standard BC form input for email address has its input type changed to 'hidden'.

Place this script just above the standard BC form validation scripts inside the form tags.

301 Redirecting Old Website Links (Wordpress) Within BC

Hey everyone,

I figured I'd let the community in on a little secret that I stumbled upon with redirecting old Wordpress links like "/folder/folder/pagename/". Obviously, ABC cannot redirect these links because of the slash at the end. HOWEVER, there is a way! Let me fill you in on how I came across this.

Recently, I helped a company migrate from their old, outdated Wordpress site to a newer, updated Adobe Business Catalyst site. The transition went well and all old Wordpress URL's were redirected to their new folder structure. After a month passed and Google Webmaster Tools had some time to collect data on it, we found ourselves in a deep pool of "Crawl Errors", specifically ones that were "Not Found". For one reason or another, many of the links had a slash at the end "/folder/pagename/". I talked to Adobe BC support reps and they couldn't give me an answer but told me they'd submit this as a "feature request". Well that still didn't help my situation.

As I played around trying to find a way to redirect the old links, I found that if I created the folder structure in BC similar to the crawl error, then in the "New URL Redirect" window I selected the folder structure based on the crawl error and for the FILE NAME I input "index.html". Once I placed where the correct page was and saved the redirect, the crawl error now redirected.

So to make this a bit easier for others to replicate, here is a demonstration of how to do this:

A recent crawl error I encountered had the following structure: "/products/abbyy/flexicapture/functionality/feed/"
In my "File Manager", I added the following folders starting at the root and then descending into each folder
With my folders added, I moved over to the "URL Redirects" and apply a "New URL Redirect" selected the entire folder structure and adding "index.html" as the file name.
After saving my redirect, I check the URL and it works. (You can view the video here [sorry no sounds]: http://www.screencast.com/t/IbCLcDNpH)

Unfortunately, you can't use the "Import URL Redirects" as it takes the the Old Url as a filename. Additionally, if you try to input the folder structure with index.html as a File Name ("folder/folder/index.html"), it won't work either.

Hope this helps any of those dealing with these types of links. I didn't find the solution on any community forum posts or on the web so hopefully this becomes useful. If anyone finds a better way to handle these links, let me know!

creating a store testimonal / review page

Hi,

Looking to create a testimonial page for customers who have used the web store so people visiting the site/store know how good we are.

There doesnt seem to be an obvious way of doing this. There isnt a module to add.

Looking on the forum its seems I have to create one using web Apps. Does anyone have a link to a how to create guide, or even a video tutorial. I cant see one myself but I cant be the first person to want to make one so thought someone would have info on making a good testomonial page.

How to fix Tribeca template slideshow?

I'm using the Tribeca template on Business Catalyst and everything runs smoothly except for the slideshow. I'm not sure if I'm adding the photos the wrong way or if there is a glitch within the template, but whenever I edit the webpage, the slideshow's buttons mess up and more are added and they become unable to be clicked on for navigational purposes. I don't know what to do. It's very frustrating.

Also, the sub-sub categories aren't working properly. On my website, I have sub categories in the sub category called Other Accessories, which is in the Accessories category, but it's not showing up.

Using HTML and CSS isn't my strong-suit, so would there be another way to fix these issues? And if not, a nice walk-through would be nice.
