We are trying to insert the blog module in an ICE powered email marketing template.

I had to remove the ICE call from the module because it was causing the module to spit out all blog posts instead of just the single latest or the last 3 posts.

Has anyone mastered inserting blog posts

Is there a roadmap or timeline for when the Email Marketing module will be improved?

Time and time again it's the greatest source of frustration for our clients because it lags behind what they expect an email marketing module to include e.g.

- Merge fields from the CRM to include customer data beyond name and email

- Repeatable regions to easily add new sections to a newsletter

- An easy to use editor (equivalent to MailChimp)

If I can give my clients a timeline then they'll be likely to hang in there knowing that it will be improved soon.

Using Business Catalyst for Newsletters - Several Questions

Hello everyone - I hope the format of this forum question is okay. I have designed our company website with Muse and we host it with Business Catalyst (webBasics+). We like it a lot and are looking to possibly upgrade it to the next package (webMarketing) simply because of the potential for newsletters (as well as all of the other benefits like blogging and the helpful modules).

My company currently uses Constant Contact for our quarterly newsletters and holiday emails and we send to about 2800 people. It seems obvious to me that we should ditch Constant Contact as we pay more than $50.00/month and I think it is very limiting as far as being creative goes. It just makes sense that I should use Bc because I already use it...and the 5,000 newsletters is only $6.00 more.

My questions are:

Are there a lot of templates to choose from? 100's? 1,000's?
Is it easy to create my own template? Do I need Dreamweaver (Only have Creative Suite and Muse)?
Is it easy to transfer an email list I have? We have software called ACT and I am a little unsure how this works but I assume there is a certain file type we can export and just upload into Bc.
Are there options to have links to social media (facebook, twitter, etc.) in the newsletters?
Are the newsletters limited in size? I think Constant Contact limited the width of an email to 600 pixels - occasionally we had text in a graphic we made in Photoshop - so things go a little fuzzy.
Add-on question from #5 Are there ways to layer graphics on top of one another in the newsletters aside from flattening it in Photoshop? This was the most limiting factor in Constant Contact.

I appreciate any help with answering these questions. Again, I think it is pretty obvious and maybe you have some things to tell me that I am completely clueless about. I basically have to make the pitch to the powers that be and I want to make sure I have a lot of the ends covered.

Business Catalyst email clients forgot password

Client using Business Catalyst as CMS and email client DNS was moved, then when email access to the former Business Catalyst mail (mail.hostedemail.com) was not available DNS was reverted back.

We need to determine if the following process steps are correct

1) A recovery email needs to be sent from the Business Catalyst CMS

with the DNS records and CNAME records INTACT reverted back to Business Catalyst CMS and mail

2) That password will be used to log in https://mail.hostedemail.com/?_task=login

3) Mail migration and archive can begin. Username password resets will be performed for

each user.

Question: Archive (mail up to the DNS and MX change of a day ago) mail is still on the server (worldsecuresystems.com) hostedemail.com

Embedding video within an email campaign

Email List Maintenance

I am trying to edit the email addresses of several customers on my mailing list. I do not see any way to Search For or Find the name of the customer I am looking for. It seems I have to go page by page manually looking for these entries, that is very time consuming & painful...Is there a more simple way to edit the email addresses of customers?

I am unable to locate where you can template an error page that is coming through CampaignProcess.aspx.

Example: (clicking on the mail submit without a valid email or without an entry) - appearance of red text on blank white page that reads: ERROR: Email address could not be added to list.

All of my system pages appear to be templated correctly and my default template is also templated, but they don't appear to be handling these error pages. Any suggestions?

How to let user choose which list they're subscribed to?

Hello,

I have several location-based mailing lists that have been imported into my catalyst site. I also have a web form that subscribes users to my monthly list as they sign up.

I would like to add a dropdown to that web form which subscribes the user to an additional (location-based) list when they sign up. So, they enter their email address, select their state from a dropdown, and upon submit, are subscribed to both the monthly newsletter list and their state specific list.

I know how to do this with the monthly newsletter, using a checkbox. But I can't figure out how to add the dropdown for other lists. I can manually code a dropdown, but I don't know what value to add to each option to make it work. I've tried using the same values that would be created when you add a checkbox but that doesn't seem to add the user to the list. I don't see any documentation on this, and Catalyst help says they can tell me how to do checkboxes only, which would be a crazy long list. I definitely prefer a dropdown.

Does anyone know how to do this?

I have been unable to create an actual hyperlink for the {tag_passwordresetlink}, or others like it. Is there a way to do this being that the actual link is not available until the message is sent out?

Hello there. I'm having a big trouble to import contacts in business catalyst.

First i tried to import through the "Mailing Lists", then through "Customers" in "CRM" section, neither of

them worked, but in "CRM" i saw what must be the problem. When i import the file in the .CSV format,

as it is requested, the information come all in the first collum in the "Email" cell (like in the print bellow).

I don't know how to put the file into .TAB format to make another tests, so now i'm asking for help =)

How do i fix this problem in .CSV importing format?

I built a website in Adobe Muse and manage it through Business Catalyst. Everything works fine, but when a customer makes a purchase, inquiry, etc. they get receive 2 automated response that exactly the same and I get the same as well. Every email that comes in or out of BC is duplicated.

Any thoughts on what could fix this.

we have a website where customers in a secure area order multiple times per month.

we need to send out a statement at the end of the month to these customers that have ordered. The info in the statement should be like invoice number + invoice date + invoice amount in a summary statement for the month.

is there any way to do this in BC?

How do I place a unique numeric tag to autoresponder emails?

I want to place a numeric tag that is individual to each autoresponder email for everyone that signs up to one of my mailing lists.

What I am doing is sending them a coupon that needs to have a unique numeric identifier.

I don't care what type of numeric tag it is, or its length.

When I try to set up the autoresponder it allows me to post tags such as the person's name or email.

is there a way to do this through API integration? if so how?

hotmail blocking images & all content from email campaign

I recently sent a campaign for a new client who have an existing BC site and have sent many email campaigns.

However it seems this one had the content blocked a lot by people with Hotmail addresses, so all they see is a blank email.

I imagine it could have to do with the content, as it was a "free offer/gift" type of thing, with that kind of wording..

Any suggestions, apart from getting rid of the words "free, gift, offer" etc..?

Business Catalyst and Facebook problem

I have seen threads on this subject as well as the articles, but I am not certain the problem was answered. I have added a Facebook "like" button to my Large Product Display (and the button works). The large product display has several upsell/cross-sell items on it.

When I am testing it, I go to my FB page and look to see that it has indeed been posted. However, 2 problems show up.

1. The photo shown is not the main item, but one of the upsell/cross-sell items.

2. The descriptive text is using my footer text as the description.

Where did I go wrong?

I want to use the main photo and the product description (both of which are in the product's information). Is there a modifcation I can make to the module? Is something else needed?

business catalyst won't let me set up email with .media extension

Segmenting customers

My client (real estate) wants to be able to set up a number of criteria to segment users in the CRM. ie he wants to be able to look at a customer and see that he is interested in: Apartments for sale in Region 1 priced between $400-$500K. Customers can belong to several preferences so simply adding them to a particular campaign list won't work. Extending this, the client would like to create a report that lists all customers in this particular segment, and then add them to a marketing list.

There seems to be a couple of workarounds eg CASES: set up a form for the user to fill in : then you can do a customer/cases type report;or ORDERS: : so the "order" becomes a list of preferred property types/attributes.

These both seem a little cumbersome though. Has anyone done this or can suggest a better way. It seems a reasonable request and sounds like it shouldn't too hard, but I just keep running into a brick wall on working out the best way to do this. Thanks in advance. DC

Email campaigns not sending

Is anyone else getting issues with email campaigns being scheduled days in advance, getting confirmations it has been scheduled, and then finding the campaign does not send and returns to draft mode?

I have had several campaigns scheduled days in advance only to return hours after the scheduled time to find the campaign still sitting in draft mode. I have submitted a case on this but I am curious if this is something others are finding too.

After it happened the first time, accepting I must have made the mistake, I have been exceptionally thorough in triple checking the scheduling and watching for when the campaign goes.

We have looked all over and have been on chat with Adobe reps and no one can answer what the guaranteed up time for hosted sites is. What is the actual average up time? And does the hosting company use SQL server. Also we would like to know what the guaranteed successful delivery rate is for email marketing. Using BC Form for Newsletter Signup on 3rd party platform

I am working with a client who has a 3rd party online store, but their website is hosted on BC platform. I need to provide the newsletter signup form code to the other dev team so they can recreate the form to allow customers to signup for the newsletter while shopping in the the new online store. Is there any documentation on this? It seems that the .js files are BC specific.

The form is making a call to "/CampaignProcess.aspx?ListID=27563". This does not exist on the site and the 3rd party developer needs access to that actual aspx file or have the full URL path?

Everytime I send an email campaign through business catalyst the images will not show up on a gmail account.

I have reset all the settings on my gmail account so that I can recieve emails with images but the campaign will

I have little problem with my registration form on my web site. when the users fill in the fields on registration form, they are automaticly logining to web site. but I want to this step by step;

1. the users fill in the fields.(name, last nanme, company, e-mail address ect...)

2. then click to submit button.

3. and the users redirect to for example homepage without login.

4. the confirm mail send to mail address who register to web site.

5.the users click to activation or confirm link o their mail.

6. and then, the users can access to web site with username or whatever...

like double opt-in...

BC to iphone email issues

We are having an issue specific to the iPhone that our emails work on all devices except the iPhone. We have been able to narrow it down to whenever we add a button and/or link tot he top zone of a simple 3 zone email, it blows up on the iPhone only.

We have been having a problem with newsletters for a client. The newsletter works fine except if we add a button and/or link to the top zone on that newsletter it blows up ONLY ON iPhones!

I am looking for simple one code/plugin/HTML solution which I can copy paste in the website for the translation. I want to put google translator with flags on my website in the top right hand side. I want to translate my website in 9 languages and want to put 9 country flags on the top right hand side, which translate languages on click event on "same page" , I want the translation must take place at the same page after clicking on the flag. How-ever I successfully integrated google translate with dropdown option but want to integrate google flag translations on my website.

Email bounces that didn't happen in different system

This month, we switched our newsletter from Constant Contact to Business Catalyst. In analyzing the results of the first issue, I noted about 18 emails that had hard bounces, even though they always went through under the old system. In most cases, I am inclined to say 'no big loss' because the history showed no action. But three of them were in the habit of opening the newsletter, and one has even clicked through to our website or other links.

The most common message in the report was "Bad destination mailbox address," not "Address does not exist." What does that mean?

I'm trying to allow users to be able to log in and be able to comment on a picture I post.
I'm also trying to allow users to be automatically notified by email or sms every time I post a picture and bio of that person.
Also, I noticed you can pay $10 for 50 extra SMS... does that mean SMS that you can auto-send through the program? Or something else?

-How much does it cost to auto-send emails? I am trying to find the answers online but I did not see a phone # for the program. Thank you!

I created my site in Adobe Muse (www.thinkbigtheaterarts.org). I created the web form for email announcements within Muse. It works fine with BC and customer cases are being created. However, I can't seem to figure out how to have BC automatically send the double opt-in email for forms created in Muse. I've been having to use the force opt-in method, but want to eliminate that step for my client. I know I can have BC do a mass opt-in site wide, but I am concerned with spam. Has anyone come across the solution?

How do I set username as email when submitting form on Contact-Us page?

So I'm managing a website with a weird problem. If someone goes to the Contact-Us page and submits a form with their info including email, then they get into the system with that info. If they then think that they've registered, they go to the login page and can't login, so they try to retrieve their password. In doing so, an email gets sent to them to reset a password they never had. In this email, it says:

"You requested that your password be reset.

Your username is .

Click on the link below or paste it in your browser to reset your password: ..."

They can then follow a link, set their password, but still cannot login, because they have no username. If they then try to register, it won't allow it, because a user with that email and an associated password exists. The weird part is that if they fill out a registration form and use the same password as the one they "reset" to, they can give themselves a username, effectively registering in a very roundabout way. This is fine, but I'd like a user to be able to get unlost in all this mess a little more easily.

I was thinking that if I merely set their username as the email they gave in the first Contact form, then if they try to reset their password, the email sent will tell them their username is their email and they will be able to login after "reseting" their password.

I've tried adding a hidden field to the Contact form with the name "UserName" and a value that is set as theForm.EmailAddress.value (EmailAddress being an existing, visible email field) but this doesn't seem to have done the trick. In looking at the Contact form versus the Registration form, they both appear to use the same action="/FormProcessv2.aspx ..." as well as onsubmit="return checkWholeFormXXXXX ..." where checkWholeForm are functions that are very similar. I can't seem to figure this one out, anyone have any ideas?

Email Subscription web form captcha for non-business catalyst website

I'm trying to add an BC email subscription web form, to a non-business catalyst website.

The form works fine, however we need to use captcha to stop spam.

As the captcha module is built to work with Business Catalyst, it doesn't render off the BC website (ie. on another host).

Any ideas how we can do this?

Is it possible to place a created menu from BC into an email that is linked to the pages for a more professional look? I create the menu and then placed it through the "site modules > menu" into the Email Content. When viewed through the "View and Send" mode it looks perfect...until the email is sent for viewing to my email address where it does not work. The mouse "over" does not change color or link to the web pages, however, the "item tooltip" does appear. Any solution for this...or am I asking for too much quality?

This is my experience today and I did it myself so it is 100% correct.

1) I add an "email only" user for a new staff member

2) this afternoon they tell me they are getting every workflow etc of all new orders placed and EVERYTHING...

I think 'what'.. that's impossible, I JUST added an email account NOTHING else..

Then I check under User roles and low and behold they are included in every single user role. I never included them in a user role as they are JUST an email account.

This, to me anyway, is a serious security breach as I never wanted them to see all our orders, product low notifications, applications etc - why would BC do this.

can you take a non-ecommerce template and add ecommerce to it.

With regards to email campaigns, several of our BC sites are forever having emails with valid addresses being unsubscribed from mailing lists due to "Other or undefined mail system status". Does anyone have an idea what this error actually means and also steps that can be taken to add the subscriber back as a valid recipient?

I'm new to Business Catalyst and aside from link integration between BC hosted websites and Facebook, etc, is there an application that would allow automated post updates to the primary social media pages, similar to functionality that third-party email marketing service providers are offering. If not yet available, can anyone recommend an add-on service that might expand the social media reach. This seems to come up in every client consultation.

We are in a pickle.

We did not realize that the default was set to not opt-in our customers automatically!

We just sent out an email campaign and a few hundred customers did not received it. YIKES.

Can someone set the master opt-in on our site and opt-in our entire database at the same time???
