BC Secure Zone Form Customization

I have been publishing from Muse to BC and I have multiple cases where forms created using the standard Web Form builder in BC appear un-styled and plain. Can anyone assistance with or help provide reference to articles regarding the customization of these forms?

1.) In the case of secure zone registration forms where the form can run long vertically with all the require input fields, is it possible to split this form into two side-by-side columns?

2.) Is there an easy way to increase the height and width of the input fields of the form so there is a style difference between the field title and the input area of the field?

Using Business Catalyst for Newsletters - Several Questions

Hello everyone - I hope the format of this forum question is okay. I have designed our company website with Muse and we host it with Business Catalyst (webBasics+). We like it a lot and are looking to possibly upgrade it to the next package (webMarketing) simply because of the potential for newsletters (as well as all of the other benefits like blogging and the helpful modules).

My company currently uses Constant Contact for our quarterly newsletters and holiday emails and we send to about 2800 people. It seems obvious to me that we should ditch Constant Contact as we pay more than $50.00/month and I think it is very limiting as far as being creative goes. It just makes sense that I should use Bc because I already use it...and the 5,000 newsletters is only $6.00 more.

My questions are:

Are there a lot of templates to choose from? 100's? 1,000's?
Is it easy to create my own template? Do I need Dreamweaver (Only have Creative Suite and Muse)?
Is it easy to transfer an email list I have? We have software called ACT and I am a little unsure how this works but I assume there is a certain file type we can export and just upload into Bc.
Are there options to have links to social media (facebook, twitter, etc.) in the newsletters?
Are the newsletters limited in size? I think Constant Contact limited the width of an email to 600 pixels - occasionally we had text in a graphic we made in Photoshop - so things go a little fuzzy.
Add-on question from #5 Are there ways to layer graphics on top of one another in the newsletters aside from flattening it in Photoshop? This was the most limiting factor in Constant Contact.

I appreciate any help with answering these questions. Again, I think it is pretty obvious and maybe you have some things to tell me that I am completely clueless about. I basically have to make the pitch to the powers that be and I want to make sure I have a lot of the ends covered.

User submitted ecommerce products

How can I create a process where users are able to submit ecommerce products?

The other option would be for them to submit web app items which can then be linked to an ecommerce page.

For either, option, I would have to capture certain information from the user submitted content so I can track the purchase back to the user that submitted it.

Any help or suggestions on how I can do this would be great. Thanks!

Integrating CRM fields into a media document

Can anyone direct me to information on integrating specific CRM fields into a media document? I have a marketing subscription website and am trying to implement a simple 'web to print' function for specific marketing materials for my subscribers. I've created the additional fields in the CRM database for photos, etc; however am trying to figure out the best approach for the end result which is inserting their personalized information into the form for printing.

I have access to Adobe CC so if there is a recommended software to create the marketing template that will interface with the CRM database in BC??

How to follow up autoresponder email to be sent out 5 days after a previous email?

Assuming I have an original content from the autoresponder:

Then on the next 5 days I will send new email with the new content from autoresponder:

Message 2: Lorem Ipsum Lorem Ipsum Lorem Ipsum Lorem Ipsum

So I guess the workflow management is the solution, I set the Role Responsible: Webform enquiries and Remind Before Expiry: 5 days, is it correct? Please correct me if Im wrong.

I have an individual domain that my client is advertising publicly, but for SEO purposes we have built his website on another domain. We need to 301 redirect the advertised/public domain to point to the website domain. So, website is built on builderschristchurch.co.nz (which will incur Google rankings) and the advertised domain is buildit.net.nz which simply needs to redirect to builderschristchurch.co.nz (the website domain).

Hi BC users,

My first question:

I have a customer that would be able to buy mail credits by himself (without my intervention on my partner site)

I’m a premium partner and when I created the website on my partner portal, I choose the option “Invoice partner only”. I activated also the “Consolidated Billing” option.

For this website I’m receiving the invoicing from BC. (not with consolidated billing)

I know that I can change the billing information for hosting and Excess.

Will the change billing information option give access to my customer’s portal to buy extra mail credits and other options without my intervention?

My second question:

I want to replicate one of my existing sites, would this replicate the whole business catalyst website included all content of web apps, modules, CRM, mail marketing and site settings?

Custom Styling BC Forms

I'm new to Business Catalyst and I'm having a challenge custom styling BC forms. I'd like to to increase the width and height of the fields, add a border around the field elements and increase the line spacing between the fields to begin with. As a designer, I'm use to creating form designs in muse but the form creator in BC is limited without additional code knowledge.

Can anyone offer a suggestion?

Remove Blog Release Date from Google Searches

Hi Everyone,

We are noticing in webmaster tools / analytics that the blog posts we rank highly for that show an old date (e.g 4 years ago!) have a 0% click through rate - we think this is because they look "old" as they used to have a much higher click through!

Does anyone know how we can keep the date showing on our website blog but hide it from Google searches?

The code we currently use in the Blog Post List Layout is:

I am trying to migrate a site creating as a trial using a BC GURUS template to an existing e-commerce site hosted by BC.

Is there any easy way to do this without having to recreate modules, web forms, etc - basically all the work I did with the trial? I'd love to just ditch the existing site and go with the new one, but I would be forfeiting customer orders, cases, and pretty much all reports, etc, right?

In the future I am definitely creating a test directory within the existing site to avoid this mess, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

How to let user choose which list they're subscribed to?

Hello,

I have several location-based mailing lists that have been imported into my catalyst site. I also have a web form that subscribes users to my monthly list as they sign up.

I would like to add a dropdown to that web form which subscribes the user to an additional (location-based) list when they sign up. So, they enter their email address, select their state from a dropdown, and upon submit, are subscribed to both the monthly newsletter list and their state specific list.

I know how to do this with the monthly newsletter, using a checkbox. But I can't figure out how to add the dropdown for other lists. I can manually code a dropdown, but I don't know what value to add to each option to make it work. I've tried using the same values that would be created when you add a checkbox but that doesn't seem to add the user to the list. I don't see any documentation on this, and Catalyst help says they can tell me how to do checkboxes only, which would be a crazy long list. I definitely prefer a dropdown.

Does anyone know how to do this?

How to sell Digital Image Downloads in Sets ONLY

I am attempting to offer a large number (currently 200 in stock) of original photo images as digital downloads using BC.

I have them entered in the eCommerce system as individual "Products" with digital download enabled, but here is the challenge, the client does not want to sell them as single downloads because of minimum merchant processing fees. Therefore they want to offer a set of 6 (different images) for $5 -and- a set of 13 (different images) for $13.

I could set up 2 products: one for "6 Set" and another for "13 Set", but how would I enable the site visitor to select the images that they want in either set before checking out, keeping in mind that they would expect to receive links to download the images they chose after payment?

Does anyone have in information to share on how I can accomplish this?

Would appreciate any feedback.

I Have a client that is telling me their whole office just upgraded to Windows XP and when they are in IE 11 some of the main navigation items do not work. In fact everything else works fine except for the ABOUT US, SERVICES, GET INVOLVED, IN THE NEWS and PHOTO GALLERIES links on the home page at nashuacenter.org

Can anyone help me resolve this conflict?

When inserting images into a blog post I used to be able to resize images, add margins, etc. I tried to do this recently but those tools were no longer there. Is this no longer available? Below is a screenshot of what it used to look like.

Since there is no featured image for blog posts I've been inserting images into the first paragraph as a work around. Not being able to edit those images directly in the blog module is going to make that more difficult.

I've been able to resize the image through code, but this is not exactly user friendly for clients.

I have a client asking for a "wildcard SSL certificate". How do I get one and how do I proceed?

Alert when Shopping Cart Price is Greater than $40

Hey everyone, I've got a client who would like a message displayed when the shopping cart exceeds $40 (before tax and shipping).

In addition to the message, they would like to offer a free membership and optional magazine. Neither of these will be managed through BC, but I need to be able to pass that information off to the client.

My first thought is to create a custom CRM field with a check box that can be toggled on and off from the checkout page. I've also wondered if there is a way to add a free product (the membership and magazine) to the shopping cart once the price is over $40.

Do any of you have experience with this situation?

Help using a Dragn'Drop in a BC eCommerce site created in Muse

I want to create a DragN'Drop template functionality to display multiple photo image galleries on a web page where the site visitor can select 12 images to drag and drop into a grid of 12 empty spaces on the SAME page.

I located the following 3rd party script: http://www.redips.net/my/preview/REDIPS_drag/example10/ This would be perfect because the scrolling containers on the left can contain the photo image galleries from which the image selection if "dragged" and the static container on the right can be the receptacle where the selected images are "dropped".

The twelve selected or (dropped) images represent an eCommerce product that the client will print and ship to the customer. This means that at some point the site visitor will need to add this template to the shopping cart and pay for the template order.

Because Muse over-writes when published to BC, I will need to insert the template in to a Muse page as HTML. The questions is:

1.) How can I get the template to work with the BC shopping cart function and process the finished "dropped" selection as an order?

2.) Once the selections are "dropped" into place, how can I have the system email a copy of the selected "dropped" images to an email address?

If there is a BC expert out there who can offer a few clues as to how I can make this all work -- I would greatly appreciate it?

"Printer Friendly" version of template

I have a website for a small restaurant with some static pages showing their menu (of meals, not the navigation menu).

I want to include a link on each menu page to a "printer friendly version" which would simply remove the header, navbar and footer from the current page so that the main section of the page can then be printed.

Why do they want this? So the restaurant owner can print off the menu themselves on hard-copy paper to use it within the restaurant. They do not want the header, navigation bar or footer to be printed in this case.

I have created two templates. One as-is on the website (including header, navbar, main content, and footer). The other template includes just the content section.

I see a couple of possibilities:

Create two versions of each static page with each one pointing to one of the templates. I can have the actual menu in a content holder so the owner does not have to update two copies of the same menu. This can work, but I am wondering if there are more interesting ways of doing this.
Use jQuery to remove the DIV's of the header, navbar and footer (if a parameter is passed along in the URL). I can experiment with this as an idea if you guys think this is worthwhile exploring.
Dynamically change the template assigned to the page. I am not sure if this could even be done. ????

Is there a way of doing "View as PDF" as this Forum allows? Can I do that with BC? Is this a possibility to do as an "App" as I have wanted a little pet-project to choose to try writing my own App.

Are there any other ideas?

Looking for 2 Product Solutions for eCommerce site created in Muse and published to BC

Seeking suggestions for 2 separate BC eCommerce website product applications: I have within BC so far about 200 image in the in a folder in the "File Manager" -AND- each image has been optimized as a low-res digital image down-load product (divided among 20 catalogs).

#1. Image downloads not for individual purchase but as (a bundle of 6 for one price) and (a bundle of 13 for second price) only.

I'm trying to customize two BC products a 6 Pack & 13 Pack of digital image downloads. Normally in BC, a visitor could purchase a single image as a downloadable product and after successful check-out they would receive an email containing the download links. I need to disable single unit purchases and enable the customer to ONLY select 6 images for one price -or- select 13 images for one price. After successful check-out they would receive links for either 6 download files or 13 based on their purchase. They could also purchase multiple pack sets.

#2. Allow the site visitor to select 12 images (from 200 images among 20 catalogs) for a 12 month custom calendar which would be printed and shipped. The BC product here would be a 12 month custom calendar. I have a product listed in BC as a "12-Month Custom Calender" and a display page titled the same. I have been looking into a drag n drop system that would allow the visitor to: purchase the product > select 12 images > submit their select by email to site admin.

I have limited coding skill and I should mention that I originally created and continue to add-on to the site with Adobe Muse. Because I chose to use Muse, I have been looking for solutions that I can embed in Muse pages as "Objects" as Muse will over-write BC custom elements as it is over-written. I have looked at either using a 12 field drag n drop which might work but I can't determine how to make the 20 catalogs available on the same page to select from.

Can ANYONE offer suggestions?

monthly statement sent to customers

we need to send out a statement at the end of the month to these customers that have ordered. The info in the statement should be like invoice number + invoice date + invoice amount in a summary statement for the month.

I want to place a numeric tag that is individual to each autoresponder email for everyone that signs up to one of my mailing lists.

What I am doing is sending them a coupon that needs to have a unique numeric identifier.

I don't care what type of numeric tag it is, or its length.

When I try to set up the autoresponder it allows me to post tags such as the person's name or email.

is there a way to do this through API integration? if so how?

My website's width is all out of sync in that it doesn't set correctly. I tried changing the Alpha part of the css to something else but it still doesn't work. Still doesn't size right in Chrome or Firefox

FYI, I was looking for a quick way to determine which frameworks the BC offered responsive templates used. Chat support was unable to immediately help but has a ticket out on this question. Hi Adobe gurus,

I need some help with my website blog post list. My client can't afford the e-commerce plan so I don't have webapps (adobe makes it real hard there)

What im trying to do is basicly have a thumbnail image preview on my blog post list from the blog post details.

At the moment I have it set up in my Blog Post List Layout as this

E-Commerce Product and Shipping Issues

Hi All

I have a customer who has got 12 shipping options.

They want the ability to go against their items and enter values of between 1 - 12 (1 = Free / 12 = 24.95). Can we use one of the weight, height, width, depth fields and enter a single value into there which will then pull through the shipping cost?

If an item which is a band 5 shipping, can the system use the cost of the band 5 shipping only instead of an accumulative cost?

Dependent on the value they enter the system should recognise the the highest shipping value item in the cart and apply that shipping charge automatically.

The current shipping system in catalyst is very poor, and for some small businesses that are not shipping large volumes to charge a flat rate will put customers off especially when you have items to the value of £1.99 and the flat rate is £3.95!

2. Is there a way of implementing a button which will allow the user to collect from store an deduct any shipping charges?

3. Product Attributes

The customer has 2 types of paint pots, a sample pot priced at 5.95 and a 1 litre pot at £18.95

At the moment we have two products setup with the same information, sample and main item and this will result in us having duplicated content which is no good for SEO.

Is there a way to setup a product which has two attributes and the first attribute is automatically selected (£18.95) and the user can then select a smaller size if they require.

Client cannot register to a forum because their email is already in the CRM

Hi,

I have a couple of BC sites that are using the Forum. Clients are having problems registering for the forum because they have previoulsy interacted with the site in some way (newsletter sub or contact form) and their email is already stored in the CRM.

When they try to register for the forum the following message appears:

ERROR: The email address you entered is already registered to another user. Please choose another.

Is there some way around this?

Browse Panel Customization

I am working on an e-commerce site that would really benefit from using the Browse Panel feature. It is a greeting card site that has two lines of cards and then many categories (birthday, holidays, sympathy, etc.) within the two lines so being able to sort by occasion would be fantastic. The browse panel seems like the way to go here but I don't need all of the included parts... I just need to have the browse panel to show the sub-catalogs and do not want the "on sale" or "price" sections to be included. Every product is the same price so sorting by price is pointless--we also had to do some weird stuff on the back end to get it to work as both a retail and wholesale site so the pricing the browse panel shows is not accurate.

Long explanation for a hopefully simple question... Basically, I need to know if it's possible to remove sections of the browse panel and how to do it.

I have tried to use the tag to remove these parts but for some reason it is not changing at all. I've also edited the CSS and the formatting went away but the info was still there (pointless I know, but it was worth a shot)

So I'm trying to create a content holder that will show the latest blog posts with a tag that matches the title of the page that the content module is on. Something like so:

This, however, doesn't appear to be working, looks like it tries to find the latest blogs that are tagged "{module_pagename" then finds that closing '}', then prints an additional '}'.

Does anyone have any idea for a solution? I have 28 pages that need to display latest blogs of 28 different tags, so I'd prefer to put this code in a content module and then into a template.

I am working in conjunction with dreamweaver and business catalyst. What I am trying to do is create a custom real estate website for my client. This requires me to build a completely customized search on the homepage. I've created a web app for the real estate listings. On the initial search navigation I'd like to limit some of the input fields available on the user end (I don't want all of the search fields displayed). Is there a way to do this without modifying the code and managing the javascript?

For example:

I have all of these fields available for input- Price, Address 1, 2, zip code, bed, bath, residence, for sale/rent, city, etc.

I'd only like to show these instead of the above listed: price, bed, bath, sale/rent.

Has anyone had issues archiving email in Thunderbird?

We have a client that uses BC email through OpenSRS. He is at 97% capacity for email storage. He is using IMAP and Thunderbird as his email client.

Per BC Support he can not get any more storage space so we instructed him to archive his email. He has been trying but with no success. He receives the following message...

Server client@company.com has disconnected. The server may have gone down or there may be a network problem.

Error message appears when email archiving is attempted.

Client's IT person has been working with him and Thunderbird. Thunderbird says it's server issue, OpenSRS (via BC Support) says it's Thunderbird issue.

Support has recommended that the client try another email client. I doubt that client would go for this as the time involved to sync email would be significant.

Has anyone else encountered this issue? or something near? Any and all suggestions would be appreciated.

I've got html for a header that needs to go on all pages of an Adobe Business Catalyst site that I'm building, however, the header needs to change which menu item is bolded depending on the page it's on. I don't want to use a Menu because I've already created the html code for the entire header. Putting the code in a Content Holder seems like the best choice, but is there a way for me to insert the content holder into pages but tell it which item to mark as selected?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I am making a default nav menu on bc but the submenus dont work properly, they show up on the right side of the screen.
I tryed every option: Under parent; Next to parent;relative to parent; Relative to left parent. it just stays there.
How can i fix this?

Bc is giving it some absolute wrong positions.

I am using a slicknav mobile menu and the default menu option for desktop.

i tyed to make a javascript modulemenu v=2 for the desktop but only make it worst.

I am having some unexpected results in the large product page and I can't find the code to correct it.

I have a large space below the up/cross sell images I have added....I don't know where to find the code to get rid of the extra space.

It should be flush as the (tag_pagecontent) box should be connecting with the footer....

Anyone?

Ecommerce question

I would like to make an ecommerce site where an owner for a product, could log in and make their own product on my site.

So each "product owner" could change their own products but not the other ones.

Then i've would simple display all the owners products.

How could this be done in BC, could you make a user role that only allowed you to make a product for yourself?

Hosting company is very slow with domain transfer process so i want to at least have them redirect the domain to flowersbycolleen.businesscatalyst.com.

cart prices

Hi guys,

Need some help adding a custom price to my shopping cart.

Is it possible to add a price (same currency) to all individual products.

Because I wont be using Shipping I thought I could set it up as a shipping cost but i'm not sure how to charge a shipping cost for each product.

Is there a way that someone can kindly show me how to add a separate cost to the cart that will display something like this (below)?

As you can see the cost is adding to one product because its setup as shipping.

Changing the mouse cursor

Hi,

I'm trying to change the cursor when the mouse moves over a menu item. The pointer changes to a hand for most links within the website, however when the pointer hovers over a menu item, it changes to the text select bar instead of the hand.

I assume there is some code that needs to be changed, however my understanding is limited to being able to copy code into relevant spots to add widgets etc, and lots of trial and error. I haven't been able to find the cursor part yet!

Is this something that is easy to change, or does it require re-doing the menu system?

I designed a website on Muse and HOME <<< link here and it looks good on the computer but when I look at it on the phone the bars move down..... Can someone tell me why? I don'twant to make a mobile version if they don't want to pay for it help!!!

How do you set up a blog using Muse and Business Catalyst?

Hello,

I am trying to set up a blog on my website, and none of the online tutorials seem to be working. I want to build as much as I can using Muse, since that is what I designed my website in, but when I get to setting up modules in Business Catalyst I am completely lost. Also, my menu options in Business Catalyst seem to not match up with any of the tutorials that I have been trying to follow. For example, I believe I need to link the blog to a menu page, but the Site Manager>Menu tab in Business Catalyst doesn't even show my actual menu/nav bar that I'm using for my site.

I just want a blog to show up automatically when they click on the "Blog" page in my nav bar, and not a link to a blog page as it is now. Here's a link to my site so you can see what I mean: http://www.taylorstoneillustration.com/
