How can I create a process where users are able to submit ecommerce products?

The other option would be for them to submit web app items which can then be linked to an ecommerce page.

For either, option, I would have to capture certain information from the user submitted content so I can track the purchase back to the user that submitted it.

Any help or suggestions on how I can do this would be great. Thanks!

Integrating CRM fields into a media document

Can anyone direct me to information on integrating specific CRM fields into a media document? I have a marketing subscription website and am trying to implement a simple 'web to print' function for specific marketing materials for my subscribers. I've created the additional fields in the CRM database for photos, etc; however am trying to figure out the best approach for the end result which is inserting their personalized information into the form for printing.

I have access to Adobe CC so if there is a recommended software to create the marketing template that will interface with the CRM database in BC??

Webforms, events, notifications on a franchise site

Hi,

I am working on a franchise site for a company, the main site provides general information about all the services, promos, events, etc... offered by the franchisee.

But not all associated stores offers all/same services nor promotions,etc... and so on.

Everything is solved by a number of related webapps, but the problem comes when a client wants to book a services appointment in a specific store.

Anyone thinks that there is another way of solving this than by making an individual form for each store. Selected store needs to be informed about the request...

Franchise website multi site implementation

Hi, I am unsure if BC has the ability to do this. I have been asked by a client to create a business franchise website, like this sitehttp://www.franchisedirect.co.uk/ the thing is the customer wants to be able to setup a website for each franchise that has purchased plan but only allow that franchisee to change certain elements in order to maintain brand integrity. Is something like this possible? I was thinking it could be done using the site replication tool but then this would be a separate site, domain etc and the owner of the franchise wouldn't be able to maintain control of the franchisee sites and information from a central location.

Hi guys,

I've been trying to figure out if there's a way in creating an online booking system for appointments. What I want is to set certain time slots of the week, for customers to book in a time for meeting. For Example, Monday 9am-10am , 11am - 12pm, 3pm - 4pm...etc and when a customer books the time 9am - 10am, then that time slot will not longer be available to book.

I've been reading a few discussion threads, but they don't seem to have been answered. Any help would be great. Thanks

I am trying to migrate a site creating as a trial using a BC GURUS template to an existing e-commerce site hosted by BC.

Is there any easy way to do this without having to recreate modules, web forms, etc - basically all the work I did with the trial? I'd love to just ditch the existing site and go with the new one, but I would be forfeiting customer orders, cases, and pretty much all reports, etc, right?

In the future I am definitely creating a test directory within the existing site to avoid this mess, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

How to sell Digital Image Downloads in Sets ONLY

I am attempting to offer a large number (currently 200 in stock) of original photo images as digital downloads using BC.

I have them entered in the eCommerce system as individual "Products" with digital download enabled, but here is the challenge, the client does not want to sell them as single downloads because of minimum merchant processing fees. Therefore they want to offer a set of 6 (different images) for $5 -and- a set of 13 (different images) for $13.

I could set up 2 products: one for "6 Set" and another for "13 Set", but how would I enable the site visitor to select the images that they want in either set before checking out, keeping in mind that they would expect to receive links to download the images they chose after payment?

Does anyone have in information to share on how I can accomplish this?

Would appreciate any feedback.

Hi all,

Looking for something to do custom invoices on in BC similar to WP-Invoice - https://www.usabilitydynamics.com/products/wp-invoice/

The workflow I would like is:

receive a form with information from a customer
have that information partially populate a quote/invoice
complete the rest of the quote/invoice myself (set the cost etc.)
send the quote/invoice to my client with a unique link
the unique link will direct the client to a page which they can pay the invoice

WP-Invoice is very similar, but I have not found something equivalent for business catalyst. I'd love to hear your feedback and thoughts!

Web Apps Layout with Template?

Hello!

So I've been using Business Catalyst and absolutely love it so far! However, I did run into an issue.

I created a Web App, and was able to attach it to my muse site. The List Template shows up where it needs to, however the Details Template appears on a blank page (with the details content).

Ive tried the {tag_pagecontent} tag on one of my muse pages and changed the template as a default template, but it doesn't seem to be working.

Am I doing something wrong here?

Events - Multiple Booking Allocation & Products (In one)?

Does anyone know if there is a way to have multiple booking allocations for validation? for example, i want to be able to set up a booking that will allow the user to select either "adult" and/or "child" tickets, while also enforcing a limit on how many tickets someone can purchase. I don't see an easy way to do this and it doesn't seem like the booking allocation input field can be customized but I though I would see if anyone has set up a booking this way or at least if it's possible. Also, is there a way to add a product for sale with a booking? So for example, the client wants to sell daily harbor sailing tickets for adults & children (with variable pricing and sell limits) and let the customer buy apparel or a cap. Is this doable through a web app, a booking OR can all this be accomplished with the catalog?

Has anyone had issues with navigation not working in IE 11?

I Have a client that is telling me their whole office just upgraded to Windows XP and when they are in IE 11 some of the main navigation items do not work. In fact everything else works fine except for the ABOUT US, SERVICES, GET INVOLVED, IN THE NEWS and PHOTO GALLERIES links on the home page at nashuacenter.org

Can anyone help me resolve this conflict?

Hi Guys,

Just wondering if a website like www.vistaprint.co.uk can be replicated in business catalyst? Could we use a third party piece of software to do it? Can we build something bespoke in catalyst?

The business wants people to be able to order business cards, flyers, posters etc online and display a custom message over the templates they may have. They also want people to be able to login and submit proofs for print, check proofs and okay the work.

Is there anyone out there that could build such a solution or is catalyst the wrong platform?

Help using a Dragn'Drop in a BC eCommerce site created in Muse

I want to create a DragN'Drop template functionality to display multiple photo image galleries on a web page where the site visitor can select 12 images to drag and drop into a grid of 12 empty spaces on the SAME page.

I located the following 3rd party script: http://www.redips.net/my/preview/REDIPS_drag/example10/ This would be perfect because the scrolling containers on the left can contain the photo image galleries from which the image selection if "dragged" and the static container on the right can be the receptacle where the selected images are "dropped".

The twelve selected or (dropped) images represent an eCommerce product that the client will print and ship to the customer. This means that at some point the site visitor will need to add this template to the shopping cart and pay for the template order.

Because Muse over-writes when published to BC, I will need to insert the template in to a Muse page as HTML. The questions is:

1.) How can I get the template to work with the BC shopping cart function and process the finished "dropped" selection as an order?

2.) Once the selections are "dropped" into place, how can I have the system email a copy of the selected "dropped" images to an email address?

If there is a BC expert out there who can offer a few clues as to how I can make this all work -- I would greatly appreciate it?

Looking for 2 Product Solutions for eCommerce site created in Muse and published to BC

Seeking suggestions for 2 separate BC eCommerce website product applications: I have within BC so far about 200 image in the in a folder in the "File Manager" -AND- each image has been optimized as a low-res digital image down-load product (divided among 20 catalogs).

#1. Image downloads not for individual purchase but as (a bundle of 6 for one price) and (a bundle of 13 for second price) only.

I'm trying to customize two BC products a 6 Pack & 13 Pack of digital image downloads. Normally in BC, a visitor could purchase a single image as a downloadable product and after successful check-out they would receive an email containing the download links. I need to disable single unit purchases and enable the customer to ONLY select 6 images for one price -or- select 13 images for one price. After successful check-out they would receive links for either 6 download files or 13 based on their purchase. They could also purchase multiple pack sets.

#2. Allow the site visitor to select 12 images (from 200 images among 20 catalogs) for a 12 month custom calendar which would be printed and shipped. The BC product here would be a 12 month custom calendar. I have a product listed in BC as a "12-Month Custom Calender" and a display page titled the same. I have been looking into a drag n drop system that would allow the visitor to: purchase the product > select 12 images > submit their select by email to site admin.

I have limited coding skill and I should mention that I originally created and continue to add-on to the site with Adobe Muse. Because I chose to use Muse, I have been looking for solutions that I can embed in Muse pages as "Objects" as Muse will over-write BC custom elements as it is over-written. I have looked at either using a 12 field drag n drop which might work but I can't determine how to make the 20 catalogs available on the same page to select from.

Can ANYONE offer suggestions?

Webapp address search form-search by state

I have a location-based search and I am trying to get the states listed in a webapp search form dropdown. I can add in the dropdown, but it isn't part of the search. I would like the ability for the user to search by state only, not having to enter a zip code. When I try this, all of the items in the webapp are displayed in the results.

Since the State is part of the address and not a custom field, how do I include it as part of the search script? When I output the search form, state isn't part of that, only zip and country.

Does everything have to be determined by the ZIP code?

Also, with international addresses, can I just have a search based on Country and no postal code?

Customer submitted webapp expiry date and weighting

I'm building a kind of 'community events' webapp for a client - users will be able to submit an event - will be moderated/approved by client. I'm stuck on two things...

These are both to do with the 'Web app input form'.

I'm trying to set the expiry date for the day after the event - the only option seems to be never expire of number of days - I know I could write a little script that figures out the number of days between now and the event, add one and insert it into the nubmer of days field, but is there an easier way?

Secondly, when the webapp items are displayed on a page I need them to show the event that is closest to happening through to the event that is farthest away - showing by date will show by creation date, which isn't what I want. I was hoping to set the weight to the event date - ie 20121020 - for October 20, 2012 - but there isn't an option for weight on the 'Web app input form'. Any thoughts?

How do users send messages to each other?

When a customer submits a web app, the visitor to that web app should be able to send a message to that customer. I didn't find any tags related to this on the web apps templates.

How do we achieve this? Pardon me if I missed something. Sounds like a simple question.

Can you update a web app's weighting field automatically??

I'm having a real hard time understanding why we have the power in BC to build web apps but can't sort data the way we want through automation... I realize at this point, the only way to sort my items by date is to manipulate the weighting field. However, I’m building a user driven site with all user submitted content and it needs to be available immediately. Now, obviously results are posted online as soon as they are submitted but as of now, the only automatic way to display results that makes any sense is by a Recent Activity listing or Alphabetical.

Is there any way to automate updating an item's weighting field so that results can be available in order of, for example, Event Date (custom date field)?????

HELP PLEASE - all this power sure seems like a waste if you can't manipulate your results accordingly!!

I've hunted but not found any reference to it. You also get sent it when an item is edited, which I would like to suppress if possible.

For clarities sake on which email I am referring to the email subject is: New Web App Item Submission

If you can't edit it (which makes no sense) I'd like to suppress it all together.

I need help from someone on web apps!

I imported information into a web app. I have tried to put a search from in a web page which is fine, the issue is when i try and do a search for "postcode" only. The release date works fine for all other search fields apart from postcode, yet if I go into each individual web app item and press the button update, for some weird reason when i do a postcode search again the web app item shows in the search results!

My point is I cannot go into 50,000+ plus web app items and press the button "update". I should be able to do a search criteria based on just postcode and the web app item display?

Can someone help/point me in the right direction. I don't think this has anything to do with the google mapping or my data, I think some bug exists in the criteria for postcode aligned with release dates..

Hi Guys.

Has anyone been able to update a crm form and web app item using one submit button?

I currently have a sign up form which copies the users crm data to the next page and submits a web app item using the same information. The issue with this is that when they then go to update the web app item or the crm, only one of the two will be updated.

I have tried using ajax which works fine for the web app item, using "&JSON=1", but this does not work for when updating the CRM form.

Hoping someone has a solution, or guidance in the right direction!

Is BC really THAT inflexible?

Hi,

I am a designer who loves working with Muse and the CMS side of Business Catalyst. But now my client (a travel agency) asked if he could use the rest of BC too. Because he really wants to automate his business more. So we watched the BC video’s about CRM and eCommerce and were very excited about the possibilities.

It all seems very promising but we got stuck on, what we thought, one simple question; does it work for him too? Or is BC not that flexible?

Acknowledging our ‘expertise’ on this matter we asked somebody who has made several databases himself to dive into this.

Basically he told us that BC is nice for building websites but the CRM and eCommerce are really too inflexible. And it can’t be adjusted to what my client needs. So he says it has to be custom build database, because you can add extra fields to webforms, but these extra fields can not be connected to real fields in the database. And he says there is no way that you can combine info from separate database parts and that’s exactly what we need.

You may have guessed it, that doesn’t really clarify things for us and after seeing all the other websites running on the CRM and eCommerce side of BC we think that what we want BC to do isn’t that big a deal. So I thought I would just drop our list in the forum and hope that someone who has worked with BC can answer these questions…

What we think it needs to do:

• Booking forms differ per event (trip) and this has to go in the database, connected to the client.

• Automated confirmation after payment.

• Automated notification if payment is due.

• Listing of clients data (from booking form and the extra fields) including payment status.

What we would like it to do:

• Clients can go on multiple trips and have a login to change settings etc.

• Newsletters can be automatically send and monitoring/overview of succes rate etc.

And it would be especially great if:

• Email exchange between the agency and the clients can be ‘joined’ in the CRM.

• Visitors of the site can see (per trip) how many people (and their age) are going

So, basically my questions about Business Catalyst are these:

• Can the Events module be changed to add fields like “Passport number”, “Travel date”, “Occupation”, etc? Because my client is in the travel business and he needs extra information.

• Is it possible to change the CRM by adding fields that connect to the Events Module and the Client information?

I seem to have two options:

I have got jsonp working with a hard coded json file, but as soon as i tried to put the {module_webapps} in, i realised that BC doesnt process tags outside of html files.

Client cannot register to a forum because their email is already in the CRM

Hi,

I have a couple of BC sites that are using the Forum. Clients are having problems registering for the forum because they have previoulsy interacted with the site in some way (newsletter sub or contact form) and their email is already stored in the CRM.

When they try to register for the forum the following message appears:

ERROR: The email address you entered is already registered to another user. Please choose another.

Is there some way around this?

When managing sites in an attempt to import BC site into a local Dreamweaver CS6 application, Dreamweaver prompts that "You have no sites available to import."

Is this an issue of merging Business Catalyst account with Creative Cloud account (I'm currently running on the free trial..)

I have already downloaded Extension Manager and added the BC extension.

I am working in conjunction with dreamweaver and business catalyst. What I am trying to do is create a custom real estate website for my client. This requires me to build a completely customized search on the homepage. I've created a web app for the real estate listings. On the initial search navigation I'd like to limit some of the input fields available on the user end (I don't want all of the search fields displayed). Is there a way to do this without modifying the code and managing the javascript?

For example:

I have all of these fields available for input- Price, Address 1, 2, zip code, bed, bath, residence, for sale/rent, city, etc.

I'd only like to show these instead of the above listed: price, bed, bath, sale/rent.

Displaying Data Source'd Web Apps

I have 2 web apps

A. Which is a list of people

and

B. Which is a list of articles that has a data source of A.

Is there any way for me to now display the Articles (B) under each individual web app inside web app A.

So, I want the web apps from A, to display the articles from B, but only if that person was selected as a source

Good evening.

I have been searching for days for a solution. Posting here is a last resort. Half the problem is my limited knowledge of scripting and pulling values from web apps.

Here's is what have and what I would like it to do.

Current web app has a field that holds a number called 'Settlement Amount'. That field holds an integer. I would like to output the average number from that field from all the web app items in that particular app.

For Example:

Web App Name: Our Progress

Web App Item Field: Settlement Amount (integer)

Total number of web app items is 4.

Settlement Amount One = 100

Settlement Amount Two = 300

Settlement Amount Three = 500

Settlement Amount Four = 300

Output result on a page would = 300

I'm sure there is a way to accomplish this via javascript, but I have no idea how to grab the 'Settlement Amount' from all 4 of the web app items.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance!

1. On BC host - Bata site finished and ready to go live.

2. Also on BC host - old site Domain name - customer wants to use this same domain for new site.

Since both are on BC hosting what is best way to go live?

Should I forward the beta site to the old domain ???

copy the new site directory into the old site directory???

Two concerns:

- the new site has a BC web app for secure documents uploading.

will that transfer if I just copy files over to the old directory of existing site domain?

- the old site directory as A Record for external Email - email not on BC.

will that be a conflict? Maybe have to re enter A Record?

Each item has an image and when the link is clicked it goes to a news article or blog item. So if I could set a "featured image" it could be in the list view of the blog module and show like it does on the site i referenced.

I know its possible through a webapp but webapps can automatically syndicate.

As you can see from the above example the List (checkbox list) items are all running together. I can't figure out a way to separate the items.

i.e. DANCE: Ballet,Ballroom should read DANCE: Ballet, Ballroom with a space after the comma.

Seems like a simple problem but having a hard time finding a solution. Any help would be appreciated.

I would like the ability to add the webapps edit webform to a webpage without having to use the {tag_edit} tag. The reason for doing this is each account will only have 1 webapp item, so it just adds an extra click to allow them to edit their one item. Hi guys!

Quick question. Is there a way to create multi-day or repeatlable events? I want to create an calendar that displays events that last more than a single day, and others that happen every week. Is there a way to do this with either the events module or web apps? I will need to sort them by "upcoming events" on an events page.

Module Event - Login/Logout Issue

Hi All,

I have created a subdomain http://trade.primealarms.uk at the moment users log into this fine. When they go to register for an event primealarms.worldsecuresystems.com logs out the users so they have to either login or populate their details.

Has anyone come across this before or had issues with subdomains and can point me in the right direction?

Any help would be greatly received.

I am trying to use BC Web Apps to help my customers find products for their specific motor vehicle.

By selecting the vehicle make and then the model. e.g. Chevrolet and then Camaro.

This will then bring up a table with all the cosponsoring equipment part numbers.

At the moment the closest I can get is two dropdown lists one with all the vehicle makes and another with every vehicle model.

If I select Chevrolet I only want to see Chevrolet models in the dropdown list.

Can i use WebApps to build a Google map with polygon territories instead of points (pins)?

I built a map with Google Maps Engine Pro - http://www.jmbcompanies.com/Services/Mitigation/map.

It showcases territories using a Google map polygon shape. I wrote custom KML to create it. However, with Google Maps Engine pro you cannot create custom hyperlinks. It will link a URL that you put in the data, but you cannot name it or target the parent window, so therefore it opens a new tab for each click to more details. I really want it to open the WebApp detail page for that item within the same window.

So, is there a way to use the BC integrated Google maps technology and show polygons instead of points on the map? I've used {module_webappsmap,20754,a} to place individual locations on a map, but what about territories or polygon areas?

I'm sure that I can create a WebApp to generate the KML for each placeholder. But how do I turn that into a map?

Hi guys,

Need some help adding a custom price to my shopping cart.

Is it possible to add a price (same currency) to all individual products.

Because I wont be using Shipping I thought I could set it up as a shipping cost but i'm not sure how to charge a shipping cost for each product.

Is there a way that someone can kindly show me how to add a separate cost to the cart that will display something like this (below)?

As you can see the cost is adding to one product because its setup as shipping.

Connecting Products to a web app

I'm trying to connect products in a site I'm doing to a webapp to give me the flexibility I need with product info. I've managed to do this by adding the product ID as a web app field, but with 800+ products it's obviously a nightmare to manage, as each web app item needs to have its corresponding product ID added manually, and the client has specifically asked for a solution that's easy to manage.

I haven't had a lot of experience with building Open Platform apps yet but I imagine that this is the way to go.

Has anybody tried this and come up with a workable solution?
