A Plus subscription allows you to view up to 5,000 responses per form or survey at any point in time. To receive more than 5,000 responses, we recommend exporting the data in your response table (File->Export Responses), saving it locally in one of the supported formats (.pdf, .csv, or .xls) and then deleting it from the response table in FormsCentral. Once you free up space in your response table you will be able to collect additional responses. Repeating these steps will allow you to collect unlimited responses with a Plus subscription.

Note: FormsCentral actually stores up to 7,500 responses internally - we provide a buffer of 2,500 responses to make sure you do not lose data if you unknowingly went over 5,000. But if you exceed 7,500 submissions then respondents will not be able to submit their forms (they will get an error) until you export and delete your responses to make more room for responses.

Let's first start by explaining the right way to embed a form within your website.

Go to the Distribute tab and click the Embed Form tab. This screen will appear:

Embed Options

Include page background colors - If this is unchecked then the form will have no background color and your web page color will show behind the embedded form.
Include form header - Check if you want to show the form header text and/or image of the embedded form.
Replace the browser window when redirecting to a new URL - When a Redirect URL is set (Options tab),click this option to replace the entire web browser window with the redirect. Uncheck to replace only the contents of the embedded form.
Custom redirect frame size: When a Redirect URL is set (Options tab), this defines the size of the embedded area for the page you are redirecting to. If no Redirect URL is defined then this option is ignored.

After you have set your options then click the Copy Embed Code button.

Note: If you change the Embed Options on the right you do NOT need to update the embed code already on your website. These options are controlled on the server side so the code needs no updating. (If you copied the embed code prior to 12/10/2012 then you will need to recopy the embed code in all cases. Prior to this date the embed code had all options specified within the embed code. This changed to the above behavior on 12/10/2012)

Once you have copied the embed code then go to your HTML authoring tool and paste the embed code into the HTML page within the <body> section:

Then upload your HTML file to your web server and view your web page. You'll now see your FormsCentral form embedded within your web page.

Some things to know:

For paid customers the "Powered By" footer at the bottom of our web forms shouldn't appear when embedded in a web page correctly.
Do not copy the source HTML from the actual FormsCentral form and paste into your HTML page. Always use the embed code provided within the above dialog.
Never put the form URL in an iFrame. Always use the embed code provided within the above dialog.
Never change the embed code parameters by editing the pasted embed code directly. If you want to change the embed code options for you should go back to the Embed dialog, change the options, copy the embed code, then re-paste into your HTML file.

Note: Web Form and Embed Form options are only available for forms created within FormsCentral. Imported PDF forms can only be distirbuted as PDF files.

Troubleshooting

There is a "Local Host" banner in the upper left corner of the form - The form is currently embedded on a web page that is being viewed on a local server or host. In this case, the form may not behave as expected (e.g. the bottom of the form may be cropped). You need to upload it to a web server to view it properly.

This error message is being shown instead of the form: "The form has been incorrectly embedded by using the form URL as the source for an iframe. Please copy the correct embed code from the embed dialog." - You should not use the form URL in an iFrame, instead paste the embed code.

This error message is being shown instead of the form: "This form has been improperly embedded." - You copy/pasted the HTML source of the FormsCentral form into your HTML page. Go to the embed dialog and copy the embed code from there and paste into your HTML web page.

After my form submits it redirects to a web page that is cropped - You need to increase the size of the Redirect Options in the Embed dialog.

Redirect doesn't take over entire window - Make sure you have the "Redirect - Replace entire window" option checked in the Embed dialog.

For anything else, we suggest you go back to the Embed Form tab, set your options and recopy the embed code to your web page. Its possible you may have inadvertently edited the embed code or options were missed.

In some cases, when you are doing a survey or collecting data from respondents you want the respondents to be able to see what everyone else submitted - either the raw data or summary charts. But of course you don't want to force them to log into FormsCentral to see it.

If you publish the summary report and/or responses, that content becomes accessible to anyone with a link to it. You can simply provide the link to the published document in the body of the form, in the confirmation page or via an email sent later. Here's how you would publish the summary report and/or responses:

Open the form and click the "Share" button in the bottom left of the window.

Click "Publish Responses" and choose to publish the summary report and/or the responses.

When the document is published you can access the "Published" icon at the bottom of the window to access the link.

Click "Copy link" to have the link copied to the clipboard. The link will look something like https://formscentral.acrobat.com?d=9u1jpRb2I1i-QG*hT715Ew.

You can also choose to copy the embed code and embed the results directly into your website.

Try navigating to the URL after logging out of FormsCentral (make sure you logout otherwise you'll see the entire form file) to get an idea of how the document will look to your respondents.

FormsCentral now provides you the option to import an existing PDF form into the service. Here are some important things to know:

FormsCentral does not support the importing most of PDF forms created using the LiveCycle Designer desktop application or LiveCycle servers, some LiveCycle Designer forms are now supported (static XFA), but dynamic XFA based PDF forms are not supported. You can identify a LiveCycle form by opening it in Reader/Acrobat, going to the File menu -> Properties and looking at the PDF Producer name on the Description tab. It will say LiveCycle Designer, although this does not tell you if the form is static or dynamic (there is not a simple way to check this property, you can try importing into FormsCentral and if it is Static XFA it should be able to import). See the FAQ's below related to LiveCycle forms.
The PDF form you import must have existing fillable form fields placed on it using a tool like Adobe Acrobat or the latest version of Adobe InDesign (or any other competitive form authoring tool). This FAQ explains in more detail.
If your PDF form is encrypted with a password or copy protected you must remove the password or copy protection from the file before importing.
Once you import the PDF form you cannot edit it except for placing the Submit button on the first or last page of the form.
You can only distribute the form as a PDF file. We do not provide a Web Form option for imported PDF forms.
You can not import a PDF form created using FormsCentral. You should distribute a PDF form created using FormsCentral using the Distribute tab within the form file.

Additionally in some cases we can successfully import the PDF form but there are certain features within the PDF form that we will not support:

Rich text fields - If rich text is typed into a form field by a respondent it will be sent as plain text to FormsCentral (the service doesn't support rich text in text fields)
Digital signature fields - These will be ignored. Respondents can still sign the PDF form using Reader but their signature will not be submitted to the FormsCentral service.
Export values - Export values are stripped from the PDF form; You will always see the Display Value in the response table, submission receipts and email notifications.If there are JavaScripts in the PDF form that use the export values they will likely break.
Fields in the "View Responses" tab are not in the same order as the PDF - this is a known issue and unfortunately at this time there isn't anything that you can do to fix this other than manually re-ordering the columns in the View Responses tab

You do not have to recreate your existing PDF forms within the service in order to take advantage of FormsCentral’s data collection/analysis capabilities. You can read more about it here.

At this time, the service does not support importing an existing Word or Excel document to create a form. You would need to recreate the form within FormsCentral by customizing one of our templates or starting from scratch using the drag-and-drop editor included with FormsCentral.

In general, all of the features within FormsCentral will work with the PDF forms you create. However, there are 6 items that will not work in PDF forms:

Page Skip Logic Rules (Navigate to Page) - PDF forms inherently do not have the ability to dynamically navigate to a page based on the answer to a question. If you have skip logic rules defined for your web form they will be ignored in the generated PDF form. All of the pages in the form you have designed will be visible in the PDF form.

Question Skip Logic Rules (Show/Hide Item) - PDF forms inherently do not have the ability to dynamically show/hide an item based on the answer to a question. If you have skip logic rules defined to show/hide an item for your web form they will be ignored in the generated PDF form. All of the items in the form you have designed will be visible in the PDF form.

Attachments - Attachments can only be collected using web forms. The attachment fields will be visible in the PDF form and if a respondent clicks the "Select File" button they will be told that PDF does not support attachments and they should contact the form's author.

Redirect URL - Redirects will only work with web forms. If you define a redirect URL for your form it will be ignored when the user submits their PDF form

Payment Processing - Payments will only work with web forms. If you setup payment processing for your form it will be ignored when the user submits their PDF form

Date Field - Calendar icons and picker are not available in PDF forms. These are only available for web forms

When you save your form to PDF, FormsCentral will warn you if any of these features are found in the form you have designed.

Note: Make sure respondents are filling out the form using Adobe Reader otherwise many other features of the PDF form may not work. If respondents are having issues filling out or submitting the PDF form to FormsCentral please read this FAQ: http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-2653.

Tutorial: Enable Form Fillers to Save a Web Form

Often respondents may need to fill out a form over a period of time, this is especially true for a very long form. Previously the only solution to this problem was to distribute a PDF form (because web forms didn't support save). With the save web form option respondents can save their work in progress and come back later to finish and submit. Note: The save web form feature is only available with a paid Basic or Plus subscription.

To enable respondents to save their web forms go to the Options tab and check the enable box:

Once a respondent saves their web form a customized email is sent to them that includes a link to retrieve their saved form data. You can pick the field that the email will be sent to, and customize the From/Subject/Message area.

A respondent's form data expires after several days. You can specify the length of time using the Expiration drop down - from 1 - 28 days.

If the Save Web Form feature is enabled then a Save link is displayed in the bottom right corner of the web form:

When the respondent clicks the Save link they will be presented with a dialog asking them to enter/confirm their email address so a link can be sent to them:

After they click Save & Send they will see an indicator confirming that their progress has been saved:

The respondent will then receive a customized email that includes a link back to the form data:

When they click on the link they will be taken back to their form and all of their previously saved data will be used to repopulate the form:

Note: If you changed the form after you distributed it then respondents will get the new form and their saved data will be used to populate the fields that were the same between the old and new version. Saved data associated with new/updated fields will be ignored.

FormsCentral allows you to create, distribute and collect data using fillable PDF forms. When you distribute your form as a PDF respondents will be able to:

Fill out and save forms offline, then submit when back online
Fill out the form little by little over several hours/days, then submit when completed
Forward the PDF form to other people to fill out different sections of the form then submit when completed
Keep the filled out PDF form for their records
Print a copy of the PDF form

Note: You need a paid (Basic or Plus) account in order to use this feature.

The Page View mode in the design tab shows how the form will be laid out across pages when saved to PDF. You can access the page view mode by selecting it in the lower right corner of the UI:

Based on the paper size chosen (File menu -> Form Setup), page view mode will automatically break the fields up into pages.

Note: Page breaks created in the Web View do not show up in Page View – each view has its own independent page breaks. This allows you to better optimize your form pagination based on the form type (web vs PDF)

Once you have setup your form go to the Distribute tab to distribute the PDF form.

If you want to save out a fillable PDF form that does NOT contain a Submit button (the data will NOT be collected using FormsCentral) then uncheck the Add Submit Button checkbox. This option is focused at users who just want a PDF form that can be sent around in email, filled out and then managed like a document.

If the Add Submit Button check box is checked then it will save out a fillable PDF form that contains a Submit button at the bottom of the form. Respondents can fill out the form, click submit and all of their data will appear in the FormsCentral response table.

Click Download to get the PDF file to distirbute.

Note: You can distribute both a web form and fillable PDF form at the same time - the options are not mutually exclusive. All of the submitted data from both will appear in the response table.

The fillable PDF forms created using FormsCentral allow Adobe Reader users to fill out the form, save the file locally and submit their data. Your respondents only need Adobe Reader or Acrobat (versions 8.0 or later)

Sharing and Notifications - instructions for co-authors to verify email

When adding an email address to "Email Notifications" or to the "From" field in "Email Reciepts" you will see the following alert/s if there is not a verified account set up by the user:

The Email address you add to either Notifications or Reciepts must have a "verified" FormsCentral account to have the form shared with them (which is a requirement for Notifications and the "From" field in Reciepts).

If the user has not created an account they should create a new "Free" level account (or paid subscription) and during that process they are sent an email "Verify Your Email Address with your Adobe Acrobat.com Service" (Subject line may vary) with a link to click to "Verify" their email address.

If the user has created an account but has not yet "verified" their email address:

The user should have a "Verify" email "Verify Your Email Address with your Adobe Acrobat.com Service" (Subject line may vary), locate that email and click the inlcuded "Confirm Email Address" link or copy and paste the link from the email into a web browser.
If the user cannot locate that "Verify..." email they should attempt to sign into FormsCentral using the email address and they will be presented dialog will ask the user if they would like the verification email sent again - click to send the verification email again and then locate the email and click the link

Once the verification link in that email has been clicked the account is active and they will be able to access the shared form and Email Notifications can be sent to that user.

Why does the submit button not work on my PDF form?

In order to properly fill out, save and submit a PDF form created using FormsCentral respondents must use Adobe Reader or Acrobat 8.0 or greater.

They can download the latest Adobe Reader from here: http://get.adobe.com/reader/

If respondents use any other PDF viewer they will likely not be able to submit the PDF form - clicking the submit button will do nothing. Additionally, field validation (required, character limits, min/max, etc) and formatting may not work correctly. Most non-Adobe PDF viewers (Apple Preview, Google Chrome PDF viewer, etc) do not fully implement the complete PDF form specification. Because of this, make sure you tell your respondents to use Adobe Reader or Acrobat to fill out the PDF form otherwise they may run into any number of problems while filling out and submitting the form.

Also note that if a FormsCentral PDF form is saved using the Apple native PDF preview application that the PDF file will be completely rewritten and will no longer work in the Adobe Reader. The form will no longer be fillable or submittable to the FormsCentral service.

Whether you're working in a template or creating a form from scratch, the Forms Palette has a variety of field types you can add to your form or survey. Mousing over the icons on the Forms Palette reveals the name of each option. You can collapse or expand the Forms Palette as needed. Customize for your business

You can easily customize the look and feel of your form or survey -- change background, font and horizontal line colors and add images and logos -- to promote and reinforce your brand. You can change a field's properties by simply clicking the field to open the Field Properties box.

Share and collaborate

With FormsCentral you can collaborate in a secure online environment to work on forms and surveys and preview and test forms before respondents see them. Click the Share button to see the current sharing status of your form. You can share your form with selected individuals — choosing who can view or edit in your file — or you can publish it so anyone with the assigned URL can view the response table with all the form submissions. You also control who can re-share your form.

Each participant shows on the collaborator bar at the bottom of the page. Mousing over each icon will display the role assigned, current or most recent activity, and e-mail address.

Author: This is the creator of the form or survey. The author can share a form, assign roles, edit, test, and distribute forms, and analyze data.
Co-author: Co-authors can edit, test, and distribute forms and analyze data.
Contributor: Contributors can view the form and edit responses.
Reader: Readers can only view responses.

When you publish a form file, anyone with the URL can view responses or test your form without needing to sign in. You can also embed the URL on a web page for easy access to the response table. Form files can be un-published at any time.

Setup e-mail notifications, submissions receipts and other options

The Options tab within FormsCentral allows you to setup the closed message, confirmation message, redirect URL, e-mail notifications and e-mail submission receipts.

The Confirmation Message is shown after respondents submit their form. The text and formatting is completely customizable.

Once the respondent views the confirmation message you can optionally set a Redirect URL to your web site or back to the first page of the form so they can fill it out again. Learn more about the Redirect URL option

When you turn on Notifications an e-mail will be sent to you every time a respondent submits the form. You can optionally include the data submitted with the e-mail notification. Anyone the form file is shared with can turn on notifications.

Use the Test tab to test your form to better understand the experience recipients will have when they receive and fill out the form. Easily distribute forms and surveys

Your respondents can easily complete your form or survey using a web form with a browser or using a PDF form with Adobe Reader. Their data is automatically added to your response table, eliminating the need to consolidate or transcribe responses into an offline spreadsheet. For web forms, simply use the unique URL that appears in the Distribute tab to share your form with anyone via e-mail, Twitter, or instant messaging — or post the link on your web page or blog. Because your form is in HTML, respondents can complete it on their smart phone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer. All they need is a web browser and an Internet connection.

FormsCentral also allows you to create, distribute and collect data using fillable PDF forms. When you distribute your form as a PDF respondents will be able to:

Fill out and save forms offline, then submit when back online
Fill out the form little by little over several hours/days, then submit when completed
Forward the PDF form to other people to fill out different sections of the form then submit when completed
Keep the filled out PDF form for their records
Print a copy of the PDF form

Note: You can distribute both a web form and fillable PDF form at the same time - the options are not mutually exclusive. All of the submitted data from both will appear in the response table.

Opening a form makes it accessible to respondents so they can complete and submit it. If a form is closed, it is not available to respondents. A visual cue on the Distribute tab lets you quickly see your form's status. You can change the status of your form at any time after it’s opened by simply closing it to responses, going back to the Design tab, making any desired changes, and opening it to responses again on the Distribute tab. While changes are being made, respondents will not have access to the form until it’s opened again.

FormsCentral collects all your responses, in real time, and automatically adds the data to your response table, eliminating the need to collect results manually and transfer them to a spreadsheet.

Analyze and share your data

Because new data is added to your response table as each person clicks submit, you can immediately view and analyze your results in real time. Summary formulas and tables are automatically updated so you can easily report results.

FormsCentral employs industry-standard technology for Internet security. When you access FormsCentral, SSL technology protects your information using both server authentication and data encryption.

You can customize how you view your data by searching, sorting, and filtering to see the data that is important to you. Multiple people on your team can view, contribute to, and analyze the data at the same time. The Private View option lets you view and analyze the form without affecting other users who may be concurrently viewing the response table. You can also drill down and view an individual response as a stand-alone record.

You can act quickly on your data by adding fields, such as columns, to your response table. You can make specific responses stand out using row, cell, and column highlighting, filter by specific data, and even track manually edited or added responses. Use built-in formulas for math and statistics to analyze your response data. You can also add simple or complex formulas to perform mathematical or statistical analysis. To do even more, export response data — as much or as little content as you like — to an Excel spreadsheet, PDF document, or CSV file.

The Summary Report tab makes it easy to understand the data because it shows the result of each question as a chart. The charts are automatic generated and completely customizable - change the order, fonts, size, and number of values shown. Manage your form files

The FormsCentral organizer helps you manage the forms and surveys you've created, open or close them for responses, duplicate or remove an item, or create a new form. From the My Forms tab you can see what forms are open and closed, how many total responses you've received, and how many new responses have come in since the last time you checked. You can also change the state of a selected form by opening or closing it and sharing it with collaborators. Double clicking a form name will open it where you were the last time you closed the form file, enabling you to easily pick up where you left off.

How do I change the email address for my FormsCentral account (AdobeID)

You can change the Email address you use to sign into Adobe services (this sign in is called your "AdobeID"). For this to work the new email address you plan to use cannot already have an "AdobeID", it needs to be an email address that is new to Adobe. See below for a way to work around this requirement.

If you are unsure if your email address is associated with an AdobeID you can attempt to sign into any Adobe service and click "Forgot My Password", it will let you know if there is an AdobeID associated with that email address or not.

Once you know the Email address you want to use is not associated with an AdobeID, sign into FormsCentral click on the "Account" icon (looks like a person at the top right):

Select "My Information":

In the "My Information" dialog you can change your AdobeID email address:

After changing the Email address in this dialog you will have to "Verify" your email address, Adobe will send an email to the address with a link you need to click or copy/paste into a web browser to Verify the Email.

Fixing the case where your "new" email address is already associated with an AdobeID

There is a way to make the email change if your new Email is already connected to an AdobeID, it requires you having access to a third email address that does not have an AdobeID associated with it.

Assuming you have access to an Email address that doesn't have an AdobeID (you can always create a new free Gmail email account for this purpose) you can use these steps.

I will call the email addresses:

"Email #1" - the email address you currently sign into your FormsCentral account with

"Email #2" - the email address you want to change to and want to use to sign into your FormsCentral account moving forward

"Email #3" for the 3rd email account that does not have any AdobeID associated with it

Using Email #2 Sign into FormsCentral (you will have to create a Free account in FormsCentral if that AdobeID does not yet have a FormsCentral account) and follow the steps to change the email address following the steps above, changing that AdobeID to use "Email #3".
After you've done that you've "freed up" the Email address you want to connect to your Paid account...
Sign out of FormsCentral and then sign back in using "Email #1" and change the Email address there, again following the steps above and changing the email to "Email #2".
Last, this part is optional, you can sign out and then back into FormsCentral using "Email #3" and change the Email address there to be the one you just dis-connected from the Paid account "Email #1".

FormsCentral doesn't have the ability to convert an existing "flat" PDF form into an interactive, fillable PDF form (with text fields, drop downs, radio buttons, etc). If you try to import a PDF form that is not fillable you will get an error message saying it is not possible.

You can make a fillable PDF form using any version of Adobe Acrobat (the paid version).

Here is a quick tutorial on how to create fillable PDF forms in Acrobat:

Open the PDF in Acrobat. (Note: You can also convert your existing Word, Excel and paper forms into PDF and make them fillable PDF forms)

Go to the Tools pane, select the Forms panel and click the Edit item.

If your form has no fields you will be prompted to detect fields. Click Yes. Acrobat will look at the visual appearance of your form and automatically place interactive form fields on your PDF. This is a very cool feature and will save you a lot of time.

Once that is complete, the user interface will go into Form Editing mode. Look over your entire form to see if the auto-detection made any mistakes,

You can add additional fields using the toolbar at the top or the Add New Field task in the right panel

The Fields list on the lower right side shows the names of all of the fields. These are the names that will appear as the column headings of the View Response tab when imported into the FormsCentral. You should update these to make them easy to understand.

Right-click on a field and select Properties to configure the field.

Click on the Preview button on the top toolbar to try out your form fields.

Once complete, save your form and import it into FormsCentral (Create New Form -> Import Existing PDF button on toolbar)

Image does not show up in PDF

If you find that an image you added to your FormsCentral form is not showing up when you save the form as a PDF it is likely that the image is a JPG/JPEG image using the CMYK color profile.

Adobe FormsCentral PDFs support JPG/JPEG images with the RGB color profile, but not CMYK, an image with CMYK will now appear in the PDF.

You can change the color profile in your image to RGB to work with FormsCentral. Steps will depend on the image editor you are using. One simple method if you are on Windows you can use Paint, open the image in Paint and then save it from Paint.

Instructions for any specific version will vary - in the Creative Cloud Photoshop currently if you select "Edit" - "Convert to Profile" the default profile it will convert to is RGB.

If you are using another image editing application you should be able to Google the method to change the color profile in that application.

After changing the color profile of the image to RGB you can replace the image in your form with this new one and the resulting PDF will display the image.

How do I allow others to receive email notifications when responses are received?

You can allow other users to receive email notification when a response is received by sharing the form file with them and turning on email notifications for them.

Note: notifications are a paid only feature, they are not available with a free account.

Share the form file with the users you would like to receive notifications. You can do this using the "Share" button in the lower left corner and selecting "Add Collaborators."

Type in the email addresses of the users you want to share the file, set their roles, custom the message and click "Share". NOTE: Any role (co-author, contributor or reader) can turn on email notifications. The users you share the file with do not need to have a paid account to enable notifications, just free accounts.

Make sure the users who you have shared the form file with have verified their email address and can access the form file.
You can turn on/off email notifications for a person by selecting the To: drop down within the Email Notifications section of the Options tab. Check the email addresses of users who you want to receive email notifications.

To upgrade from any less functional Acrobat service (for example, FormsCentral Basic Monthly) to any more functional Acrobat service (for example, FormsCentral Plus Annual), please follow these steps:

Log into your Acrobat service (for example, FormsCentral) and choose the Account Menu (the silloutte head in the upper right). Then choose "My Subscriptions".
You may be prompted to log in again. (If you are also prompted to choose your Country and Store, choose your country and "Adobe Store - for home or home office".)
Click on the name of your less-functional subscription. For example, FormsCentral Basic.
Next to "Subscription Level", choose "Edit".
In the Subscription pull-down menu, select the more-functional subscription. For example, FormsCentral Plus. Choose "Save".
Accept the new Terms and Conditions for your new more functional subscription. Check "I have read...". Choose "Continue".
Review the summary of your upgrade. You will likely receive a credit for your unused portion of your old less functional subscription and a new charge for your new more functional subscription.
You will see a summary of your completed upgrade.

FormsCentral allows paid users (Basic or Plus) to collect money from respondents using PayPal as the payment processor. PayPal supports collecting money using an existing PayPal account or credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express). Common types of forms that often require money to be collected include registration, donation and order forms.

First, create your form from scratch or use one of our many templates. Once you have created the form, go to the "Options" tab, select "Payment Processing" and check the "Enable PayPal Payments" check box.

NOTE: Once the Enable PayPal Payments check box is checked, you will not be able to test or distribute your form until you've completed the paypal setup and purchase field steps.

NOTE: If you are using "domain masking" to hide the forms URL then payments will not work. If you do not want to see the form URL you should embed our form within your web page using the Embed code provided on the Distribute tab.

PayPal Account Registration

In order to process payments using PayPal you must have a verified and confirmed Business PayPal account. If you have a Personal PayPal account you can upgrade it to Business. You can learn more about the various types of accounts in the PayPal Help Center: PayPal Account Types. PayPal also provides instructions on how to verify your PayPal account and confirm your email address. If the above 2 links does not help you, please contact PayPal directly to get more detailed information about how to verify your PayPal account and how to confirm your email address.

NOTE: If your PayPal account is Personal, not verified or not confirmed the account registration process explained below will not be successful.

NOTE: A PayPal account should only be registered with one FormsCentral account. If another person registers using the same PayPal account then the previous person's forms will no longer accept payments - the new person now owns the registration to that PayPal account.

NOTE: You can also use an existing Premier account (no need to upgrade it to Business). PayPal is phasing out Premier accounts so you will no longer be able to upgrade from Personal to Premier, only Business.

If you are not sure if your account is the right type or verified then sign into your PayPal account (on paypal.com) to see your account type and verification status in the upper left corner of the UI:

If you don't have a PayPal account click "Sign Up Now" on the PayPal Setup tab and you will be taken to the PayPal website to create a Business account. Once you complete your PayPal account creation make sure you verify your account. Also make sure you confirm the email address associated with your PayPal account.

Enter the email address associated with your verified Business PayPal account into the "PayPal Account" field and click on "Register Account".

FormsCentral will contact PayPal to determine the status of your account.

If your account is not verified then you will see a dialog telling you to verify you account - Go to PayPal.com, sign in to your PayPal account and click the Get Verified link near the top.
If your account is not a Business PayPal account you will be prompted to Upgrade the account. Clicking the Upgrade button will take you to the PayPal.com website. Click the Upgrade link near the top of your PayPal account page. Once completed, come back to FormsCentral and click the "Continue" button on the upgrading account dialog that will be shown.

Next you will be asked to grant Adobe FormsCentral permission to access your PayPal account. Click on "Grant Permissions".

You will be taken to the PayPal.com website to grant permissions to allow Adobe Systems to access your account.

NOTE: Make sure you log into the PayPal website with the same email address (PayPal account) that you used in the Payment Processing setup tab in FormsCentral. If you log in with a different account the registration process will fail.

The permissions we request allow FormsCentral, on your behalf, to perform transactions into your account. We do not have permissions to transfer money out of your account (only in). Click the "Grant Permission" button shown below.

You will then see the below confirmation page stating permissions have been granted.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT CLOSE THIS WINDOW. Either wait for it to redirect back to FormsCentral -or- Click "Return to Adobe Systems, Inc". If you close the browser window/tab on your own then the registration process will fail.

Once the browser window disappears you should be taken back to the FormsCentral application and shown the below dialog. If you do not see this dialog then your registration is NOT sucessful - see below for possible reasons.

These are some common reasons why registration might fail:

The email adddress associated with your PayPal account is not confirmed. Follow these instructions to confirm your email address.
During the grant permission process, you logged into PayPal.com using a different email address (PayPal account) than specified in the payment processing setup tab in FormsCentral. You must login with the same account.
The PayPal.com Grant Permission confirmation web page (shown above) was closed by you before the redirect occurred
PayPal account does not exist or is disabled
PayPal account is not a Business Account
PayPal account is not Verified

Correct the issue then click the "Register Account" button to attempt registration again.

Purchase Field Mapping

Next you need to map the fields in the form to items that can be purchased using PayPal. Go to the "Purchase Fields" tab.

Column Definitions

Purchase Field - Select fields on the form that, when selected, will add a purchase to the PayPal order.
- You can also associate one or more items to be purchased with the Submit Button and not a field. These items are always added to the order when a respondent proceeds to checkout. Common use cases for this include processing fees, handling charges, or a form that only has one item to purchase.
Quantity Field - If you would like the respondent to add multiple quantities of their selection, add a quantity field to your form and link it to the item being purchased.
- NOTE: Only fields of type "Number" will appear in this drop down. To add a number field to your form - go to the Design tab, add a text field then change its field properties to type "Number".
Price - Price for an item can be a fixed amount or an amount inputted by the user.
- NOTE: Total checkout amount cannot be more than $10,000 USD.
Description - How the item will be described in the PayPal check out summary. It defaults to the choice label and can be customized by you.

To add an additional item to purchase click the "Assign Field" button. Here are some examples of different ways to setup items to be purchased:

NOTE:The maximum number of purchase fields you can define in a form is 96.

Order Form - Choose Multiple Items From a List Of Items

In this example you have a multiple choice field for various items a user can purchase. In the Purchase field tab, click "Assign Field" then choose the "Pick the services you..." field in the purchase field drop down and choose "Lawn Aeration ($40)" in the fly-out. Leave Quantity drop down as is, fill in a Fixed price of $40.00 and type a Description. Repeat this for each choice of the "Pick the services you..." field.

Registration Form - Choose One Item From a List Of Items and Include a Processing Fee

This is exactly the same as the above example except this is a single choice field there is a $1.00 processing fee. The processing fee is always charged so it is associated with the Submit Button.

Donation Form - Choose One Item From a List Of Items with Option to Pay an Arbitrary Amount

This is similar to above examples except in this case you assign the Other Amount choice to a User Inputted price. This way the respondent can donate an arbitrary amount.

In all of the previous cases the Quantity column wasn't used. In this example, we set the "Number of classes" field to be the quantity field for each choice so the respondent can pick the type and number of classes to attend.

NOTE: Only fields of type "Number" will appear in the Quantity drop down. To add a number field to your form - go to the Design tab, add a text field then change its field properties to type "Number".

Order Form - Select Quantity for Each Item Listed with Delivery Charge

This example doesn't use a choice field. Respondents pick an item by providing a quantity. In these cases, the purchase field and quantity field will mapped to the same field (e.g. "Cheese Pizza ($10)").

Address Field Mappings

When respondents go to the PayPal checkout summary and pay with a credit card they must provide their billing address. If you also ask for their address in your form then they will need to type it twice. You can provide a better user experience by mapping the data the respondent enters in the FormsCentral form to the billing fields that will be shown in the Paypal checkout. That way when they fill out their address in the FormCentral form it will prepoulate the billing address within PayPal.

Additionally, we provide an option to include or not include the shipping address during checkout. If you are not shipping physical goods you should uncheck the below check box.

Test Form

Make sure you test your form before making it available to respondents. Go to the "Test" tab and click the "Test" button. You can go through the entire form filling and purchasing process to make sure you set up everything correctly. When you use this method to test you still need to provide valid PayPal accounts or credit card information in the PayPal checkout. However, when testing the form, FormsCentral will not complete the actual transaction so your account or credit card will not be charged. These tests will be marked as "Test" in the View Responses table.

Respondent Experience When Purchasing Items

Forms that are payment enabled act like any other FormsCentral form. The only difference is the "Submit" button on the last page of the form is now labeled "Proceed to Checkout" and the PayPal logo is shown in the lower right corner.

When the respondent hits "Proceed to Checkout" the data that was filled into the form will be submitted to FormsCentral and the respondent will be redirected to paypal.com to complete the financial transaction. They will see a summary of their order (which we defined above) and be given the option to pay using their PayPal account or a major credit card. If you have setup the address field mappings then the billing/contact information will be prepoulated for them.

Once you have provided valid information you are taken to a summary page. Clicking "Pay Now" will finalize the transaction and take you back to FormsCentral.

View Responses and Payment Information

Once the transaction is completed then the "Payment" columns in the View Responses table will be populated. These columns are automatically added by FormsCentral and appear as the last columns in the table.

Column Definitions

Provider ID - Always set to PayPal.
Merchant Account - PayPal merchant account used to process the transaction.
Transaction ID - ID of the PayPal transaction. You can use this to cross reference this response with the more detailed transaction data stored within your PayPal account.
Status at Checkout - Status of the transaction at checkout time. It is possible for the status to change at a later point. You should go to your PayPal account to see the latest status of a transaction.
- Completed - Transaction was completed successfully and money moved into your account.
- Cancelled - Respondent cancelled the transaction during checkout by clicking the "Cancel" button on the PayPal checkout summary. No financial transaction occurred.
- Pending - Status of transaction is unknown at time of checkout. Check your Paypal account to see why.
- Failed - Respondent completed checkout but their financial transaction failed (most likely from insufficient funds)
Total Amount - Amount transacted at checkout time. Like status, it is possible for the amount to change at a later point. You should go to your PayPal account to see the latest amount of a transaction.

If these values are all blank it means that a respondent submitted their form data, was redirected to the Paypal checkout page and abandoned the PayPal checkout (they never clicked Cancel or Pay Now on the checkout page)

There are 3 ways to export your responses from FormsCentral:

Export responses to an Excel spreadsheet, comma separated values (CSV) file or a PDF file showing tabular data
Export a response to a PDF file that matches the form design (Note: must have a Basic or Plus account)
Export the detail (record) view of a response to a PDF file

Export Responses to an Excel Spreadsheet, Comma Separated Values (CSV) File or a PDF File Showing Tabular Data

You can export the responses you have collected into a tabular format by opening the form file and selecting "Export Responses..." from the File menu. The below dialog will appear.

You can export the response table to an Excel spreadsheet, comma separated values (CSV) file or a PDF file showing tabular data. Additionally, you can choose to export all of the responses or just the ones currently showing (this is only useful if you have a column filter turned on).

When you export to Excel and open the XLS file you will see something like this:

If you want to represent textual choices as numbers for data analysis purposes you can map the text choices to numbers within FormsCentral using data values. This FAQ explains in more detail. When you do this your exported choices will be shown as numbers in the Excel, CSV and PDF file.

Additionally, if you are using formulas within the response table those will be converted to Excel formulas when you export the responses to Excel.

Export a Response to a PDF File That Matches the Form Design

Paid users (Basic and Plus) of FormsCentral can export a single response as a PDF file. The exported PDF will contain the exported data in the original layout shown in the Design tab page view. This allows you to create a document from the data that you got back from a distributed web or PDF form – this document can be then archived, printed, or sent to others to enable some type of process (like an approval).

You can save a response by going to the View Responses tab and right-clicking on the response you want exported to PDF. Select "Download Response as PDF Form" from the menu. If you do not like how the PDF is paginated you can change it using the Page View mode in the Design tab. The Page View mode shows how the form will be laid out across pages when saved to PDF. You can access the page view mode by selecting it in the lower right corner of the Design tab UI:

Based on the paper size chosen (File menu -> Form Setup), page view mode will automatically break the fields up into pages.

Export the Detail View of a Response to a PDF File

The detail view within the View Responses tab allows you to see a single response in a more comprehensive summary view.

Go to the View Responses tab and click the View menu in the upper right corner of the UI. Select "Detail View" from the menu.

On the right side of the screen a panel will appear showing the detail view of a response. There is a toolbar at the bottom of the Detail View panel. Click the left most print button to print it or click the right most button at the bottom of the panel named “Export” to create a PDF. If you choose Export, click OK to export a PDF of the selected response

When you cancel your paid subscription your FormsCentral account will revert back to a free account. When this occurs none of your existing forms or responses are deleted from our servers. However restrictions are applied to the account because it is now a free account:

You can no longer create new forms since a free account only allows one form to be created.
Paid features that you enabled for your forms will be automatically disabled:
- Question and page skip logic rules will be ignored so all fields will be shown to respondents
- Attachment upload size is restricted to 100kb
- Forms will no longer redirect to your website once the form is submitted
- Email notifications will no longer be sent to collaborators
- Submission receipts will not be sent to respondents
- Payments will be disabled so respondents will not be able to pay for their purchase
Promotional message will appear on the confirmation page
FormsCentral branding will be added back to the bottom of your embedded forms
You will only have access to the first 50 responses that you have collected. If you already have 50 or more responses for a particular form then respondents will no longer be able to submit data (they will be blocked).

After canceling, if you later decide to upgrade your free account to paid then all of the above restrictions are removed and your form will work just like it did before you canceled (we remember all of your settings for paid features and automatically re-enable them). You'll have complete access to your responses and can create new forms.

You can add multiple file attachment fields to your forms to collect files from respondents. You don't have to manage collecting data and files using different solutions – like filling out the form using FormsCentral and sending the files via email. Files and data can be collected using a single method and everything is stored in one central place so managing the collection process is much easier. Almost all file formats are supported for upload including audio and video (executable and other such file types are not allowed). All uploaded files are virus scanned by the service.

Attachments are available to both free and paid users, however, the maximum file size of all files submitted by one respondent is 100KB for free users and 20MB for paid users. There is no limit on the amount of overall file storage for a free or paid users.

Note: Only web forms support attachment fields. PDF forms do not support attachments.

You can add one or more attachment fields to your form by selecting the attachment field from the item toolbar:

The field properties panel for the attachment field allows you to setup field restrictions that force respondents to upload files less than a certain size, upload multiple files and/or only upload certain file formats.

You can download a single attachment to your desktop by selecting the cell containing the attachment and selecting Download from the drop down menu (or right click context menu).

Files from multiple respondents can also be downloaded together within a single zip file. You can do this by selecting the attachment cells you want to download and right clicking on them, then select Download Selected. You can also do this using the Download Selected button on the Table toolbar.

When downloading multiple attachments, you have the option of prefixing a field value to the filenames so you know which respondent submitted a file.

You can insert an attachment into an existing attachment column within the View Responses tab. You can do this by selecting the cell where you want the attachment inserted - right click on the cell then select Insert File from the menu. You can also do this using the Table toolbar (see picture above).

FormsCentral also allows you to insert a new attachments column (not associated with a field) into the response table. This capability is often used when you want to associate files with a submission that did not come from the respondent. You can insert a new column by clicking the "+" arrow between the two columns where you want to place the column.

Select the column, then go to the Table toolbar and choose File from the drop down to make the column support attachments.

You may have a need to copy a form between two FormsCentral accounts you own or to another person's FormsCentral account.

There are 2 ways to copy a form to a different account:

Export/import a FormsCentral Design Template (.fcdt) file - This method is very simple but only allows you to copy the Design tab contents and nothing else (no options, responses or summary report customizations).
Share the form file and duplicate - This method is more involved but allows you to make an exact copy of the entire form form file - design, options, responses and summary report.

Note: In both cases when you create the form in the new account a new form URL will be generated. Make sure you use that new URL when distributing the form.

Export/Import a FormsCentral Design Template (.fcdt) File

Sign into the FormsCentral account you want to copy the form from and open the form file you want to copy.

Go to the Design tab and select “Export Design File…” from File menu. Save the file to your local disk. The file extension of the exported Design File will be ".FCDT" - FormsCentral Design Template.

If you are copying the form file between 2 accounts you own then sign out of your account (select head icon in upper right corner of UI and click Sign Out) and sign into the FormsCentral account you want to copy the form to. If you are giving a copy of the form to another person then email the FCDT file to them with the below instructions, and have them sign into their FormsCentral account.

To import the design file into the other account, go to the “My Forms” tab in the main dashboard and select “Import Design File…” from File menu. Select the FCDT file from your local disk and a new form will be created containing the form design from the other account.

NOTE: The FCDT file contains the form Design only – it does not contain options, responses or summary reports customizations.

Share the Form File and Duplicate

Sign into the FormsCentral account you want to copy the form from and open the form file you want to copy.

First, share the form with the account you want to copy the form to. You can do this using the "Share" button in the lower left corner of the UI and selecting "Add Collaborators". On the sharing dialog, enter the email address of the other account and make them a co-author. This FAQ explains the sharing dialog and process in more detail.

The account you shared it with will receive an email stating the form file is shared. If you are copying the form file between 2 accounts you own then sign out of your account (select head icon in upper right corner of UI and click Sign Out) and sign into the FormsCentral account you just shared the form with. If you are giving a copy of the form to another person then have them sign into FormsCentral and follow the below instructions.

Go to the "My Forms" tab on the main dashboard and select the form you just shared. Click the "Duplicate" button on the toolbar.

A dialog will come up asking you to duplicate either the Form Only or the Form & Responses. Choose Form & Responses.

You will now have a copy of the form file that you own and is an exact copy of the other account's form.

Sign back into the original account and unshare the form file with the other account by selecting its name/picture on the bottom collaboration bar and selecting "Remove" from the context menu widget.

Note: When you duplicate a form file a new URL is generated for the form so you don't have to worry about data from the copy going to the original form file.

You can setup FormsCentral to automatically send a form filler an email receipt after they have filled out and successfully submitted their web or PDF form. Here are some reasons why you might want to use submission receipts:

Provides confirmation to the respondent that they entered their data correctly and that their response was successfully received by the service
Is proof that the respondent actually filled out the form and what data they entered
Allows the respondent to print out or archive their form submission
Allows you to communicate additional information to the form filler (e.g. conference location, contact phone number, salesman will be following up with you)

Before enabling the submission receipt feature you need to make sure that you have a field on the form to collect the respondent's email address - this is the address the submission receipt will be sent. You can add an Email field by going to the Design tab, inserting a Text field, and changing its properties to Email. We also recommend you make the field required so the receipt can always be sent.

You can enable this feature by going to the Options tab, selecting the Submission Receipt option and then checking the "Send a receipt to the submitter on submission" check box

To: Select the email field from the Design tab that will be collecting the respondent's email. The receipt will be sent to this entered address.
From: Select the email address that you want to show in the From field of the sent email. If a respondent replies to the email receipt it will be sent to this address.The drop down is populated with the email addresses of everyone you have shared the form and that have verified their email address. This FAQ explains how to share your form file with others: http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-2462. Note: If you have shared a form file with someone but their address doesn't appear in the drop down then they haven't verified their email address. They need to sign in to their FormsCentral account and follow the prompts to verify their email address. Once they do this their email address will appear in the drop down.

Message: Customize the email's body text. The main toolbar provides some basic text formatting options. Note: Images are not supported in the message
Include submitted data check box: If this is checked then all of the field labels and submitted responses will be included at the bottom of the email receipt.
Include empty fields check box: If this is checked then the submitted data shown in the receipt will include fields that didn't have a response filled in - only the label will be shown with a dash "-" for the response value.

Setting up Payment options using Show/Hide logic

FormsCentral can be set up to take Payments using Paypal. The way that it is set up, unless you use "Show/HIde" logic as I demonstrate below, it will always go through Paypal but some form authors would like to give their form fillers additional Payment options that could be completed outside of FormsCentral.

This post is about configuring your form with the option for users to pay using the Paypal checkout process or to select an alternate form of payment that you would collect outside of FormsCentral (mail in a check, pay by Credit Card over the phone etc).

In this demo I will create payment options for "Check" and "Credit Card", and "Paypal". Credit card payments can be processed through Paypal and this form is set up to take those Credit Card payments through Paypal and could inform the user a bit more about that checkout process since it is not always clear to users.

Create a field for users to select their payment method, a "Single Selection" or "Drop Down" field works well. Add Paypal and the other methods you want as options there.

Create your group of "Purchase" fields. You will see I have a "Quantity" field next to each shirt size, those are "Number" type fields (option in the Properties of a Text field) so it can be used in Paypal for quantity.

Now, select all of the "purchase" fields by clicking on the first and then press and hold "Shift" and click on the last. Use keyboard commands for "Copy" (Crtl+C on Windows and Cmd+C on Mac) and "Paste" (Crtl+V on Windows and Cmd+V on Mac) to create a duplicate set of fields below the first set

First I will set up the "Show/Hide" logic by selecting the first group of purchase fields again

Check "Show/Hide Item" in the Properties panel

In the Show/Hide Item dialog box click "Add Condition"

Select the field you set up for the Payment type ("Checkout type" in my case) and choose "Paypal" from the options

Now - in the example I am showing I presented the user with "Credit Card" as an option, but it would still be processed through Paypal, so I am going to add another condition to display this same set of fields if "Credit Card" is chosen as the Payment method:

Notice that when I add this second condition I get an "!" showing me there is an error in my logic (above)

This error is removed when I change "All" to "Any" since both of those options cannot be selected at the same time and I want the payment fields that will be hooked up to Paypal shown when either of those choices are selected.

Click "OK" in the "Show/Hide Items" dialog and you can see the show/hide icon next to each field I added logic to in the left margin. Mouse over this icon for more information or click it to bring up the Show/Hide item dialog for that set of items.

Before setting up Show/Hide for the second group of purchase fields I want to add some additional info when those fields are shown with instruction on how to mail the check if they choose that option so I add a Formatted Text field below the purchase fields with the appropriate information...

Next I repeat the steps to set up Show/Hide logic for the second group of purchase fields by selecting that group (including my Formatted text field that I also want shown with this group of purchase fields) and again clicking "Show/Hide Item"

This time in the "Show/Hide Items" dialog I click "Add Condition" and select the "Checkout type" field again and this time choose "Check (send by mail)" and click "OK"

Now that the Show/Hide logic is set up I will configure the Paypal options on the first set of payment fields.

On the Options tab in the "Collect Payments" sub-tab click "Enable Paypal Payments" and click on the "Purchase Fields" tab. I will set up only the first set of Purchase fields with Paypal since that is the set shown if Paypal or Credit card are selected as the Payment type.

I am selecting the "Small" shirt field from the first drop down and then from the second I selected the first instance of "Quantity" so I can use the "Number" type field as a quantity for purchase

Repeat the process for the other two shirt sizes, only selecting the first group of fields and stopping before the second "Small" (choosing the "Quantity" field I selected the first one each time since that would be the next "Quantity" field, choosing more unique names would make this process more clear, you could always change the names back to be generic like this after setting up the payment tab).

That is it - I have now set up the logic and the payment fields.

Test the form and make sure the Paypal and Credit Card options go to Paypal and the Check option does not...

Note: The "Submit" button will say "Proceed to Checkout" regardless of the which payment type is selected, even if the user will not be re-directed to Paypal the button does not change.

How do I edit a FormsCentral PDF form in Adobe Acrobat?

PDF forms generated by FormsCentral are Reader Extended to allow Adobe Reader users to fill and save PDF forms. A side effect of Reader Extending the PDF form is that it cannot be modified in the full (paid-for) Adobe Acrobat product. The instructions below explain how to edit FormsCentral PDF forms in Acrobat X or XI:

Open the FormsCentral PDF form in Adobe Acrobat
Go to the File menu and select the Save a Copy… menu item (Note: this is not the same as File > Save As...). This step is important as it will remove the Reader Extended rights and allow you to modify the PDF. Make sure you save under a different name than the current PDF.
Open the copy you just saved in step #2
Do your modifications. Note: If the form has a FormsCentral Submit button on it then be careful making changes because you could break the Submit button.
If your form has a Submit button then test your form by submitting data to make sure the changes you made didn't break anything
If you have Acrobat XI then go to File > Save as Others... > Reader Extended PDF > Enable More Tools (include form fill-in & save)…; If you have Acrobat X then go to File > Save as... > Reader Extended PDF > Enable Additional Features... This will add the Reader Extended Rights back so that the fillers can save the PDF in previous version of Reader

How do I share a form I created with others?

Open up the form file you want to share. In the bottom left corner click the button labeled "Share" and select "Add Collaborators" from the menu.

The sharing dialog will appear.

In the upper right hand corner there is a drop down that determines the default role of each user you invite.

A person's role determines what they can do with the file.

Co-authors can edit the form design, options, responses, and summary report (everything that you can do)
Contributors can view, but not change, the form design, options and summary report. They can only edit the responses.
Readers can only view the responses and summary report. They can't change anything.

Type in the email addresses of each user you want to share the file with. You can also update the subject and add a message that will show up in the email invitation.

If you want to change the role of a single user just click the triangle beside their name and select the desired role. You can also remove the user using this menu.

Once completed click on the Share button in the dialog. Email invitations (shown below) will be sent to each of the users you specified.

The users should click on the link in the email. They will then be asked to sign in to FormsCentral using their Adobe ID and password in order to access the form file you shared. If they do not have one they should create a free FormsCentral account to access the form.

Shared form files will also appear in the persons My Forms tab so they can easily access them in the future.

Get an error “Acrobat.com could not save this PDF file....” trying to save PDF or export responses from FormsCentral

This "save" process is really controlled by Flash and the operating system of your computer and is mostly out of the control of FormsCentral once the File Save dialog is shown, however there are rare cases where something about a particular form causes an issue so if none of the above steps resolves your issue please contact us and share your form so we can investigate.

The general things to try are:

Update Flash Player to the latest version: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
Make sure that you do not have the file open, close any applications that might have had the file open
Make sure you are saving to a location you can "write" to, such as your Desktop (not a read only location)
Try giving the file a new name when saving (you probably need to add ".pdf" or you might end up with a file with no extension and you'd get another error message)
Try restarting the web browser
Update the web browser to the latest version
Try another web browser
If all else fails restart your computer and try again

Acrobat XI users note that if you are using the FormsCentral Desktop application included with Acrobat you'll need ensure that Acrobat registration is valid, if a trial or cloud membership has expired saving PDF from FormsCentral desktop will not work.

Fixing "Duplicate display values" error when Importing a PDF

Importing a PDF form into FormsCentral you may see the following error (the field name would vary):

To fix the PDF so you can import it into FormsCentral you will need Adobe Acrobat so you can edit the form fields. These instructions are written using Acrobat XI, the location of buttons/options in other versions will vary.

Additional Benefit: There are other benefits of "fixing" this issue in the PDF, the "Display value" (which you will be editing in this tutorial) are what is used in the View Responses tab so having both unique, and meaningful names will make reading the response table much easier.

Note: Additional steps may be required in order to edit your PDF if it is secured (provide password or remove security etc.) or Reader Enabled (Save a Copy in order to edit, you edit the copy)

1. Open the PDF in Acrobat and click on "Tools" along the top bar and the expand "Forms" - Click on "Edit":

2. Look through the list of values under "Fields", these are the "Display Value" for each field, identify values that are identical. The error message from FormsCentral will identify the first field that has duplicate values but will only tell you the name of one field.

In the case of this form the groups of Radio Buttons have the same options - this is very typical and is probably the first thing you should look for. There are three groups of Radio buttons in this form "Group2", "Group3", and "Group4" - you'll see "Choice1" and "Choice2" under both "Group2" and "Group3" below:

3. Clicking on the "display value" name (Choice1) will highlight the corresponding field in the form:

4. Being able to see which field in the form this display name refers to helps you choose a new name. Click on the display value to edit (not on the field, but in the Fields list where the Display values are listed) and enter the new name:

5. Repeat for other fields who's display values have duplicates. In this form I changed all of the "Choices" for each of the three radio button groups to match the label of the field in the PDF.

6. While you are updating the display values see if there are others that would make more sense viewing the Response Table in FormsCentral if you changed them and update those too. In this case I changed the parent radio button group display names "Group2", "Group3", and "Group4".

7. When you are finished close form editing and save the changes to the PDF

8. Import the PDF into FormsCentral

NOTE: If the field you get the duplicate display value error for is a Drop Down field you should double click on the Dropdown field and look for duplicate "Choices" on the "Options" tab in the "Item List".

Missing data on the “View Responses” tab

Here are a few issues users encounter on the "View Responses" tab.

Missing rows of responses:

1. Filter - a filter might be applied which would hide all responses that don't match the filter. You can see if a filter is applied by looking at the toolbar, a filter looks like the following image:

2. History - it is possible the responses were inadvertently deleted, you can recover these responses through the "History". Click the "History" button (clock icon) near the bottom right corner of the View Responses tab, locate a point in history that contains the responses, select response rows and use "Crtl+C" to copy the rows. Now return to the current point in History, create new blank rows to paste the rows into and use "Crtl+V" to paste them into place (On the Mac use Cmd+C and Cmd+V to copy and paste).

If you had deleted column/s from the Response Table you should delete and re-create the corresponding form field/s so that a new linked column is created, then copy the data from that column in the History into the current view (if you copy an entire column from History and insert it into the current view it will not be linked to the field and would not get the new responses).

Note: You should be careful copying and pasting from the History, if you or a collaborator has added or removed fields in the form since the point in history you are copying from, the columns may not line up correclty.

Note: History in a form will only show from the time you had access to a form, so a user who the form was shared with would not have History prior to the the share.

Column headers are blank:

Sometimes the column headers are accidentally deleted when deleting responses from the table. Use the History to copy and paste the column headings from a point in history where they appear. If you are not able to locate them in History you might have to manually re-create the column headings. Editing any fields label in the form will update/generate its corresponding header in the Response Table. The easiest way to fix all of the headers if the are not in the History is to start at the first field, add one character to it's label and then delete the character, repeat this with the rest of the fields in the form you can look at the Response table after you've "touched" a few fields like this to see the headers are created..

"Time Submitted" is blank:

In one cell of the "Time Submitted" column type this formula:

= LOCALTIME(ROWCREATEDATE())

Lock the column after that so that you don't remove the formula by mistake. To lock a column select a cell in that column and go to the Table menu (top right) and click on "Lock Column".

Unable to Submit web form

The first thing to confirm is that the form is an HTML/web form and not a PDF embedded in the browser, if it is a PDF please see this FAQ: http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-4142

Assuming you or your customers/users are having problems submitting the HTML/web form - the most common cause of show/hide logic not working and the Submit button not working is Javascript is not enabled in the web browser.

Some things to check (since instructions for each item vary per browser google the steps for the browser you are using):

Make sure the Internet browser you are using is up to date, the latest version
Confirm that Javascript is enabled (required for FormsCentral forms):

Clear the browser cache
Try disabling browser plugins and add-ins, sometimes those can affect javascript
If using Internet Explorer check to see if the page is in "Compatibility View" mode and if so try turning it off
Try a different web browser

Import PDF: Static XFA form PDFs (LiveCycle Designer)

The "Import PDF" feature will now import the design of your "Static XFA" PDF forms. Static XFA is one type of PDF form that LiveCycle Designer creates, dynamic XFA forms are still not supported which means that many PDFs created by LiveCycle can not be used with FormsCentral.

Importing a LiveCycle static XFA form into FormsCentral is really importing the design of the form which is the layout and form fields. It does not retain the functionalities that most LiveCycle forms contain.

Importing a static XFA PDF may not work as you'd expect and we'd recommend you test your form after saving the PDF from FormsCentral to ensure it works as you need. You may also wish to Edit the PDF saved from FormsCentral further in Acrobat to add back some basic functionality that was removed such as buttons for "Print" or "Clear Form".

List of behaviors and restrictions for importing LiveCycle XFA forms:

Dynamic forms are not supported, only "static" XFA is supported (this is in addition to AcroForms already supported in the Import PDF feature)
Interactive fields such as date pickers and XFA field scripts are removed before the importing. Fields will also lose any input validation and formatting. Fields with formatting and validation (Number, Date, Decimal fields ) are converted to plain text fields and will allow text input and not restrict to the original input type. Fields behaviors in the imported PDF may be different from the original PDF.
Buttons for actions like "Print" and "Clear Form" will no longer work
Barcodes are removed from the form
Default Values are cleared: if any fields have default values set those will be removed in the Imported PDF form
Field names may not prove very useful in the View Responses table . This is not unique to XFA forms, the Import PDF feature uses the field name in the PDF file but this is not the name displayed when you view the PDF. The actual field names are often not very useful when analyzing responses in the View Response tab...
- You can edit the names in the Response Table to have them reflect the name shown in the PDF for the field
- Alternatively you could edit the FormsCentral enabled version of the PDF, change the field names there to be more useful and then Import this newly modifed version of the PDF. While editing you could add back some functionality that may have been removed such as fixing a Print or Clear Form button.

After Import

Test your FormsCentral enabled PDF. Fill out the entire form and press the "Submit" button added by FormsCentral to submit the data. Check the submitted data in the "View Responses" tab in FormsCentral to ensure it meets your needs.

Fix/Edit PDF

You can edit the PDF in Acrobat to add functionality back to things like a "Print" or "Clear Form" button. Read the related FAQ on editing a FormsCentral PDF in Acrobat below, be careful what you edit and test submitting the form after your changes to ensure you do not break the submission to FormsCentral.

Additional Notes

Imported PDFs cannot be further edited in FormCentral.

There is no URL for the imported PDF, Importing a PDF does not create a web form.

Signatures are not supported in FormsCentral, if a Signature field exists in the PDF it will be retained, but if the PDF is signed that Signature information is not returned to FormsCentral.

FormsCentral allows you to import an existing fillable PDF form and use the FormsCentral service to collect and analyze the submitted data. You no longer have to recreate your existing PDF forms within the service in order to take advantage of FormsCentral’s data collection/analysis capabilities.

You can use popular tools like Adobe Acrobat or Adobe InDesign to create fillable PDF forms that work with FormsCentral.

To import a PDF form go to the “Create New Form” tab, and select “Import a PDF Form.” Note: FormsCentral does not support most PDF forms created using the LiveCycle Designer (XML-based forms). The following FAQs describes what types of PDF forms can/cannot be imported and what functionality is limited within the PDF once imported:

Once imported the normal Design tab is replaced with an “Imported Form” tab that allows you to place a Submit button on the PDF form. Import PDF error for Dynamic XFA form from LiveCycle Designer

The FormsCentral "Import PDF" feature can now import "Static XFA" PDF forms, static XFA is one type of form that LiveCycle Designer creates.

LiveCycle Designer creates two types of form, static XFA or dynamic XFA. Dynamic XFA PDFs are not supported which means that many forms created by LiveCycle Designer cannot be used with FormsCentral.

If you came to this page from the "Learn More" link trying to Import a PDF into FormsCentral the form is most likely a Dynamic XFA form created by LiveCycle Designer and is not supported.

What are the limits on PayPal transactions?

PayPal has maximum limits on the amount that can be transacted in a single transaction. If your customer has a PayPal account, then they can pay up to $10,000 in a single transaction. If your customer is paying using a credit card (and not PayPal) then only $4,000 is allowed.

What permissions am I granting Adobe during PayPal account registration?

During the PayPal account registration process you will be asked to grant Adobe FormsCentral permission to access your PayPal account. Click on "Grant Permissions".

You will be taken to the PayPal.com website to grant permissions to allow Adobe Systems to access your account. The permissions we request allow FormsCentral, on your behalf, to perform transactions into your account. We do not have permissions to transfer money out of your account (only in). The "What's this?" links on the page explains each permission. Here is some additional information on why we need these permissions:

The Express Checkout, obtain information on a transaction and your contact information permissions are needed to process one time payments into your account.
Create/manage recurring payments and pre-approved payments/transaction permissions will be needed in the future when we support recurring payments.

Click the "Grant Permission" button shown below to grant permissions to FormsCentral.

Once the browser windows disappears you should go back to the FormsCentral application. Click "Close" on the "Authorizing Account..." dialog.

On the PayPal Setup tab you should now see a checkmark indicating that you have successfully setup your PayPal account registration.

Can't change the width of field label (labels re-size together)

Issue:

Can't change the width of the label of a field without affecting other fields

What is going on?:

All fields in the form with the following properties will share the same "global caption reserve" (the term we use for this common label width shared by all of this type of field). They will all have the same "label width", if you resize one it will resize the rest:

The first or only field in a row that are also
Label aligned Left or Right

See in this example where I want to increase the label of the 3rd field:

that increasing that label width affects the other two fields:

At this time this is how these labels work, there is not anything you can change to "fix" this.

A possible work around:

One possible work-around for some users is to add the narrowest "Formatted Text field" to the beginning of each row and leave it blank, this will create a placeholder for that first field so now when you start adding more fields adjacent the blank formatted text field they are the second in the row and can have their labels unique sizes. This does create a large blank area along the left margin of the form and is not ideal but does allow you to adjust the rest of the labels how you wish.

See in this example how I inserted a narrow, empty "Formatted Text Field" at the beginning of each row and I am then able to resize the labels of those three initial fields:

Help - my "global caption reserve" is very narrow:

If you come across a situation where you can't resize the "global caption reserve" wide enough to accomodate labels, it gets stuck narrow, there is likely a row that has other fields that won't allow the label width to be increased. You can try to identify that row and fix it by moving a field to a new row to make more space or by manually resizing the fields in the row.

FormsCentral PDF in a web browser

PDFs with advanced features are not supported by the PDF viewers built into web browsers or by alternate PDF plugins users may have installed.

Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat are required to fill out and Submit FormsCentral PDFs. If a FormsCentral PDF is opened in say Google Chrome with it's own PDF viewer the form will not function properly and the Submit button will not work.

Most modern web browsers have their own PDF preview capabilities that will not work with a FormsCentral PDF. Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat are the only viewers that support the features in a FormsCentral PDF (and in many other PDFs as well, this is a general issue and not specific to FormsCentral PDFs).

There is no way to control what viewer will be used by a web browser to open/view your PDF, you have no guarantee that the Adobe Reader plugin will be used and we recommend against embedding FormsCentral PDFs so that they open in the browser.

The current trend in web browsers is for more of them to include their own PDF viewers, so the likelyhood of the PDF not working in the browser is increasing.

Instead we recommend that you create a link to "download" the PDF and give instruction on the page to use the free Adobe Reader to fill out and submit the form.

Why is Adobe discontinuing FormsCentral Team functionality?

The application we currently use to support the team functionality will no longer be available internally. Adobe will evaluate if a suitable replacement will be available in the future, but we can offer no definitive statements regarding when that might be.

What happens to existing Team subscriptions?

Adobe will transition all team subscriptions to individual FormsCentral subscriptions; this means that your team members should notice no difference in functionality when they use FormsCentral.

What is the difference between the team subscription and individual subscription?

The same functionality that you and your coworkers have been using with the Team subscription is still available with the individual subscriptions. However, the ability to manage users within a team and assign seats to users will be discontinued.

Do I need to do anything to update my subscription?

All current Adobe IDs assigned to a team subscription (that is, anyone who is currently part of a managed team) will be transitioned to a complimentary individual account. Timing will be communicated directly to the subscriber via email.

I just recently purchased a FormsCentral Team subscription. What are my options now?

Adobe will convert all existing seats from the Team subscription to individual subscriptions. This will happen automatically for all existing seats as of January 15, 2014.

What if I want to add seats to an existing subscription?

Since there will no longer be any way to manage a team of people, it is no longer possible to add seats; to grant more of your team members access to FormsCentral, please purchase individual subscriptions for those users from FormsCentral.

Will FormsCentral still be sold on Adobe.com?

Yes, FormsCentral is still available for all individual subscriptions.

What subscription options are available for FormsCentral?

FormsCentral can be purchased as a monthly subscription (limit 5 forms and 500 responses per form) or an annual subscription (unlimited forms and 5000 responses per form). Please see the FormsCentral pricing page for more information on our various subscription levels.

What happens to all the forms I've created? Will I still have access to my online archives?

Any existing form will continue to be stored in the account of the Adobe ID that originally created it. We will not remove any forms or data you have stored in your account(s).

If I migrate to an individual FormsCentral subscription, can all my existing forms and data be migrated over too?

The migration of your existing Team subscription to an individual subscription will all happen on the back-end; we've got you covered. All forms currently associated with an Adobe ID will remain with that ID, so you don't need to take any further action to make sure your information comes along with you when your subscription is transitioned to an individual one.

Overview

What is FormsCentral Team?

FormsCentral Team is an online service for workgroups that lets users easily create professional online forms, distribute those forms as web forms or PDF forms, and automatically collect data in real time; users can then analyze and sort data with FormsCentral's data table and automatically-generated summary charts. There is also a FormsCentral desktop application for easily accessing your forms without opening a browser window.

What is the difference between FormsCentral and FormsCentral Team?

Both FormsCentral and FormsCentral Team offer the same functionality of helping a user create forms, distribute forms, and analyze real-time data. However, FormsCentral Team is unique in that the buyer purchases multiple subscriptions in one transaction. For example, the buyer purchases a pack of 5, 10, or 20 subscriptions.

What are the different roles on a FormsCentral Team?

The buyer is the user who purchases FormsCentral Team in the Adobe Store. The buyer can then invite members to join FormsCentral Team just by entering their email addresses on the team administration page (see how to add new members here). The buyer can add and remove members of the FormsCentral Team throughout the duration of the subscription. The buyer can also promote any member to the role of administrator, and then that administrator too can add and remove members.

What is the team administration page?

The team administration page is a unique page only available to a user who is part of FormsCentral Team. For the team buyer or the team administrator (if the buyer grants others an administrative role), the team administration page provides the ability to add or remove members. It also provides the ability to promote a member to an administrator. For a team member, the team administration page provides the ability to see others on the team and allows the member to remove him/herself from the team.

How do I access the team administration page?

The team administration page can be accessed from within the FormsCentral web application. After logging into FormsCentral Team, choose "Manage My Team" within the Account menu in the upper right corner of the screen. UPDATE: The team administration page is no longer accessible from the FormsCentral application. Please use the link at the top of this page to make changes before the admin tool is retired on January 15, 2014.

You can also sign into the team administration page directly right here. Only a user who is a member of a FormsCentral Team (either a team buyer, administrator or member) will be able to successfully log onto the team administration page.

For the Team Buyer

How do I manage my team once we've bought a subscription?

FormsCentral Team offers a unique feature called the team administration page located in the "My Account" menu. This menu is in the upper right toolbar of the FormsCentral home screen. You can also sign into the team administration page directly by clicking here.

Anyone within a team has access to this team administration page. For the buyer or administrator, this team administration page is the place to add or remove members or promote a member to administrator. For a member, this team administration page is the place to remove him/herself from the team.

How do I add a new member to my FormsCentral Team?

The primary role of the team administration page is to allow you to manage your team members. To add a new team member, do the following:

1. Click the "Add" button.

2. Enter the member's email address. To add multiple new team members at once, just separate their email addresses with either a comma or a semicolon. You may also copy and paste the email addresses from another document.

3. Indicate if you would like those members to also be team administrators. As the team administrator, you can change the role of your team members at any time. (More on team administrators below.)

4. Click "Add".

You will see a confirmation that those members have been added. Upon closing the confirmation dialog, you will be returned to the team administration page. You will now see on the page's title bar that the number of seats (or subscriptions) available in your team pack to delegate has been reduced by the number of team members you've just invited. You will also see all of the newly invited members' email addresses in your list of members with an "Invited" status. Once they accept your invitation and sign into the service, that status will change.

What will a new team member see when I invite him to the team?

The newly invited member will receive an email message to FormsCentral Team with a link to follow for further sign-up instructions.

The member will click on the link and then sign into FormsCentral Team with an Adobe ID. He may already have an Adobe ID that he wishes to use, or he can create a new free Adobe ID. Once the member signs into FormsCentral Team using his Adobe ID, he has accepted the invitation. The buyer will now see that member's invitation status change from "Invited" to "Accepted" on the team administration page.

The invitation link will be valid for approximately 28 days after the invitation email was sent. If the member doesn't accept the invitation in that time, the invitation link will expire and a new invitation email will need to be sent.

What is an administrator? Can a normal team member become an administrator?

An administrator is a member whose role has been elevated by the buyer or another administrator. The administrator can add new members, remove members and change a member's role. In order to make a team member into an administrator, please do the following:

Select the check box to the left of that member's name. To change the role for multiple users at once, select multiple check boxes.
From the buttons on the top, choose "Change Role".

3. Select the "Administrator" radio button and click OK.

That member is now an administrator. On the team administration page, you will see his role change from "member" to "administrator".

How can I remove a member from my team?

In order to remove a member from your team, please do the following:

Select the check box to the left of that member's name.
Choose "Remove".
On confirmation screen, choose "OK".

That member has now been removed from your team. You will no longer see that member on your team administration page. You will also see on the page's title bar that the number of seats (or subscriptions) available in your team pack has been increased by one.

Please note that the removed member can continue to log into the FormsCentral service; however, his access will be set to the individual free level.

For the Team Member

I was invited to FormsCentral Team. What is it and how do I get started?

FormsCentral Team is an online service which allows you to create and distribute professional forms, either on the web or as PDF files. You will be invited to use the FormsCentral Team service by a team buyer, usually a colleague within your organization who will send you an email invitation. You then just need to click on the invitation link in the email, sign in with a free Adobe ID (or create an Adobe ID if you don't have one) and start creating great-looking forms with your new service!

Can I use the administration page if I'm only a team member?

Yes, for two purposes: The team administration page allows you to see the other people who are part of the FormsCentral team, and also allows you to remove yourself from the team if you'd like.

Can my team members see my personal information?

Other team members will be able to see your name, email address, and whether or not you've accepted the invitation to the team. However, any further information or work you do within the FormsCentral service, including any forms you create or any data you collect, will be accessible only to you. If you choose to do so, you may share a form file and its responses with a colleague by using the FormsCentral sharing functionality.

How do I remove myself from the team? What happens to my account when I leave?

At any time, you can sign into the team administration page and elect to remove yourself from the team. The team administration page can be accessed from within the FormsCentral service by logging into FormsCentral and choosing "My Team" within the Account menu in the upper right corner of the screen. You can also sign into the team administration page directly by clicking here.

You will still have a valid Adobe ID and you can continue to log into the FormsCentral service. However, your access will now be set to the level you subscribed at prior to joining the team (or "free" if you didn't have a subscription prior to joining the team).

Why do the images in my form look grainy or blurry?

UPDATE: As of 12/03/2013 this FAQ should not be necessary. The full size image is now used in FormsCentral and there should be no degradation in the quality.

There are a couple of things that could be causing the quality of your images to be reduced.

The first thing to know is that if you have a very high resolution image (whose width is greater than 1024px), FormsCentral will automatically create a smaller version of the file so that when the form loads it's as quick as possible. When that happens, we save the resulting file as a JPG. The issue arises sometimes when the file you started with was a graphic rather than a photo (usually saved as a PNG), and it is converted to a JPG, which can create some less than perfect results on some types of images (particularly line art and logos).

If this is happens you will see an alert like this:

And the re-compressed image would look something like this (notice how the color is not uniform because it's been saved as a JPG):

The other thing that might be happening is if the image that you are placing is indeed less than 1024px, but is still a PNG image and doesn't fit on the form width, so is being resized by HTML. When that happens, particularly for bitmap images in PNG, the browser resizes the image but does not anti-alias the resulting smaller image, and you end up with something like this:

When what you really want is this:

If this is what's happening, you'd be noticing jagged edges.

The solution for both is to resize your image outside of FormsCentral before you upload the image, where you have much greater control over the possible settings and quality.

If you are on a mac

Open the image up in the application "Preview", from the "Tools" menu select "Adjust Size…" and enter your target size (smaller than 1024 px wide). And then select "Save as…" from the "File" Menu. For Photographs select JPG, and for logos select PNG. (If you are saving a JPG, be sure to set the quality to 80% or higher)

If you are on Windows 7

Open the file in the application "Paint" (start menu --> All Programs --> Accessories --> Paint). On the Home tab in the Image group, click Resize. In the Resize and Skew dialog box, make sure to select "Maintain Aspect Ratio" and then enter the desired size, and then select "Save as" and then save as either JPG (for a photo) or PNG (for a logo/graphic).

If you are on Windows XP

Open the file in the application Paint (start menu --> All Programs --> Accessories --> Paint). From the "Image" menu, select "Stretch/Skew". With Paint in XP, you'll only be able to resize by percentage unfortunately, but select a percentage that will create a smaller image and then select "Save as" and then save as either JPG (for a photo) or PNG (for a logo/graphic).

How do I complete a purchase when I get an incorrect "country" error?

If you are trying to complete a purchase of a new subscription and you encounter the following error message:

"Sign In Error - The account <<your email address>> was registered for <<country>>. Please sign in using an existing account for this country, or create a new account"

then please read this document.

Why do I see this error?

When you create an Adobe ID (usually your email address), you choose a country associated with that Adobe ID. When you then try to complete a purchase, you do that through one of our Adobe Stores (e.g. the Adobe USA Store). The country of your Adobe ID needs to match the Adobe Store country. If they do not, you will see this error. For example, if you created your Adobe ID when you lived in the USA, but you have later moved to the UK, you may see this error message.

This is a known issue and Adobe is investigating how we can allow you to change the country associated with your Adobe ID.

Are there any work-arounds?

Yes. The ideal work-around depends on whether or not you have a credit card and billing address in the country associated with your Adobe ID.

If you do have a credit card and billing address in the country associated with your Adobe ID...

For example, your Adobe ID is associated with the USA, you have later moved to the UK, but you still maintain a USA credit card and billing address.

In this case, you can complete your purchase in the USA Store. You can then log into the subscription service from anywhere and utlize the service.

1. Go to www.adobe.com

2. In the lower-left corner of Adobe.com, choose the country/region which matches your Adobe ID. (In the above example, the USA.)

3. Choose "Buy" > "Individual" in the upper-right corner of Adobe.com

4. Choose "Services" at the top to see the list of Acrobat services. Or find the name of the Acrobat service on this Store page.

5. Click "Buy" and complete check-out.

If you do not have a credit card and billing address in the country associated with your Adobe ID...

For example, your Adobe ID is associated with the USA, you have later moved to the UK, but you do not maintain a USA credit card and billing address.

In this case, you will need to create a new Adobe ID with a different email address or change the email address associated with your current Adobe ID.

Please read both of these options so you can decide which option suits your needs best.

If you wish to create a new Adobe ID with a different email address:

1. Go to: www.adobe.com. Choose "Sign In". (If you are already signed in, sign out and then choose "Sign In".)

2. Choose "Don't have an Adobe ID?"

3. Create a new Adobe ID with a different email address. For example, use a free Yahoo or Gmail account. When choosing the Country, choose your current residence where you have a billing address and credit card.

4. Attempt your purchase again using this new Adobe ID.

If you wish to change the email address associated with your current Adobe ID:

1. Go to: www.adobe.com. Choose "Sign In". Sign in with your current Adobe ID.

2. Under your name in the upper-right corner of Adobe.com, choose "My Information".

3. Under My Adobe ID, change your Adobe ID to anything else. For example "joe_user_OLD@email.com". This will "free up" your preferred email address (for example "joe_user@email.com"). Choose "Save my changes".

4. Choose "Sign Out" in the upper-right corner of Adobe.com.

5. Choose "Sign In" in the upper-right corner of Adobe.com.

6. Choose "Don't have an Adobe ID?"

7. Create a new Adobe ID with your preferred email address (for example, "joe_user@email.com"). Remember - you "freed it up" in Step 3. When choosing the Country, choose your current residence where you have a billing address and credit card.

8. Attempt your purchase again using this new Adobe ID.
