1. What's Adobe Send?

Adobe Send is part of an improved, integrated set of Adobe document services that makes sending large files even easier by allowing you to send files you have stored on Acrobat.com as well as files from your desktop. This new service will replace Adobe SendNow later this year. If you have questions about how Adobe Send works, you can read the Adobe Send FAQ or check out the Getting Started guide.

2. What's the difference between Adobe Send and Adobe SendNow?

The two services are similar in many ways: They’re both primarily meant to help you send large files and track their activity. However, Adobe Send makes that process even easier by fully integrating with Adobe's document services. Using Adobe Send, you can send files you have stored on Acrobat.com as well as files from your desktop. You can even use Adobe Send to send files from iOS and other mobile devices. Adobe Send also lets file recipients save time by previewing sent documents without having to download them first.

3. I'm a paying SendNow customer. What happens to my subscription?

All SendNow subscribers have automatically become Adobe Send subscribers and can start using the new service to send and track large files online at no additional charge. For a limited time, you’ll be able to use both Adobe Send and SendNow.

4. When is this change happening?

Adobe Send is available for subscription now, replete with personal branding options and an Outlook plugin. Adobe Send and SendNow will continue to coexist until November 18, 2014, at which point SendNow will switch into read-only mode (when you and your file recipients will be able to download previously sent files, but not send anything new). SendNow will then be retired for good on January 6, 2015, at which time Adobe Send will become the sole option for sending and tracking your files.

5. What is the cost difference between Adobe Send and Adobe SendNow?

The two services cost exactly the same amount. For SendNow subscribers, your subscription will continue on at no additional cost to you. For new subscribers, you can find pricing information here.

6. Can I use Adobe Send with my free Adobe Reader software?

Yes! To use Adobe Send features in Adobe Reader, you just need to download the latest version of Reader. Please note that this update will remove all SendNow features from your Reader software and replace them with Adobe Send features.

7. I’ve got a PDF Pack subscription. Will I have to pay extra to use Adobe Send?

Nope! Adobe Send functionality will be baked into PDF Pack, giving you access to all sending and tracking features. That means that besides being able to create and combine PDF file and export them to other formats, you’ll also get to send those files to whomever you want and track their activity. Bonus, right?! What's Adobe Send?

Adobe Send is a new service that makes it easy to send and track large files online as part of an improved, integrated set of Adobe document services. You can send files you have stored on Acrobat.com or upload files from your desktop. Sending a file is just like sending an email (read: no training necessary!), and you’re notified as soon as someone views or downloads the file you sent. To subscribe to the service, click here.

How do I access Adobe Send?

You can sign into Adobe Send with your favorite web browser at https://cloud.acrobat.com/send, where you’ll also find a few other services to help you with your document-related work tasks. Since Adobe Send is an online service, there is no software to download or install. If you have the latest version of Adobe Reader installed, you can also send documents directly from there by opening your Tools pane and expanding "Send Files". Just make sure you're signed in to Adobe Reader with the Adobe ID you used to subscribe to Adobe Send.

What kind of files can I send?

Many kinds of files! You can send people big PDF files, PowerPoint files, Word documents or Excel spreadsheets. You can share files you created with your Creative Cloud applications and ZIP files. You can even share audio and video files. There are a few kinds of files that we do not allow to be shared with Adobe Send. These excluded filetypes include:

Font formats (such as TTF, DFONT, OTF)
Archive formats (TGZ, RAR 7Z, SIT, JAR, WAR, CAB)
System files and executable formats (EXE, DLL, JS, VB, BAT, CMD, COM, CPL, SH, CSH, TCSH, KSH, BASH, ZSH, INF, HTA, HLP, INS, ISP, VB, JSE, LNK, MS, PIF, SCR, SHS, WS)
Web files (CHM, CRT)
Database files (MDB)
Raster image files (PCD, SCT)

What sources can I send files from? Do they have to be stored on my desktop?

Adobe Send lets you send files that you’ve got stored on your computer or files that you’ve already uploaded to your Acrobat.com cloud storage. That gives you the flexibility of always having access to your important documents, whether you want to share them or simply access them from wherever you are. Can I send files from my mobile device?

Why, yes you can! Adobe Send works within the Acrobat.com world of services, so whenever you sign into your account from a mobile browser, you’ll see Send as one of your options. (Please note: The mobile experience is optimized for tablets, so if you’re sending from your phone, please be aware that the whole page may not fit on your screen.)

Do I have to share with someone specific, or can I share with many people at once?

You have two options when it comes to sharing files:

You can send an email to a specific person or several people, which will give them access to that file.
You can share a “Public Link” which you can publish at will (you can also just email that public link to a few people, if that’s what you prefer). Please note that a public link will not provide personalized tracking or viewing information.

Can I use my own logo/branding with Adobe Send?

We're glad you asked: Yes, you can. When you're signer into Adobe Send from a browser, you can upload a logo and choose a custom color for all outgoing communications from your Adobe Send account. Just check the box marked "Add Your Logo & Color".

How can people access the files I send them?

When you send someone a file, they’ll receive an email notification that the file is available for them. When they click the link in the email, they’ll be taken to a page where they can preview that file (in most cases*) and download it. They should be able to go through this process from a computer, a tablet, or a smartphone.

* Previewing works for certain file types, like PDF, graphics, and Microsoft Office files, but not others, like video files or ZIP files.

Where do I see all the files I've sent?

When you’re logged into your account, you have two ways to find the files you’ve sent.

In the Send tab, click the link that says “View all sent files”.
In the Files tab, find the shortcut in the left-hand pane that says “Sent Files”.

You can then click on a transaction for more information and all that file’s tracking data.

What kinds of information does Adobe Send track?

Adobe Send will show you a few different kinds of information about a sent file:

When the file was sent
Whom it was sent to (or if you shared a public link instead of sending to individuals)
How frequently a file sent via a personalized link has been previewed by each recipient
When it was previewed by each recipient

Can I check on who's viewed the file?

When you send a personalized link to specific individuals, Adobe Send will track when those individuals preview or download the file. If you share a public link, however, Adobe Send will not keep track of who previews or downloads the file.

Does Adobe Send work with Microsoft Outlook?

Yes! You can download an Outlook plugin to easily send large files through your email client (without actually emailing an attachment, of course). If you've been using the SendNow plugin for Outlook, you can expect similar functionality and behavior. The Adobe Send plugin works with Office 2010 and 2013, and is available as either 32-bit or 64-bit. Learn more and download the plugin here.

New to Adobe Send? Curious about what it can do? Here are a few things you can try to get up and running with the service.

Send a file from your computer

Send a file from your Acrobat.com account

View a file’s tracking information

Understand what your recipient will see

Send a file from your computer

Sign in to your account at https://cloud.acrobat.com
Click on the Send tab (second from the left).
Click that big blue button that says “Select Files to Send.”
In the dialog box that pops up, make sure you’ve got My Computer selected in the left-hand pane. Then click “Choose files from My Computer.”

Pro tip: You can also drag and drop files into this dialog box. Neat trick!

Navigate to the folder on your computer where you’ve got your file stored, highlight the file, and click Open.
Now you should see the Adobe Send options:
- The file(s) you’re sending appears up top. You can add or remove files to send if you want.
- The “Send To” check boxes let you create links to your file(s). A public link makes the file(s) accessible to anyone who clicks on the link; you can send a personalized link to share the file(s) with specific individuals. Please note: tracking information for public links is limited.
- If you want a public link to distribute more broadly, check the Public Link box and click Create Link. Adobe Send generates a link that you can copy or email to others.
- If you choose to send a personalized link, check that box and then enter the email address of whoever you’d like to receive the file(s). Enter more email addresses to send the file(s) to more than one person at once; they’ll each get a personalized link to the file.
- The Subject and Message field are just like the ones you use for sending an email and will appear to your recipient(s) in the same way. Just enter the information however you’d like them to see it, and then click Send! Your recipients will get an email to notify them that the file is available. Send a file from Acrobat.com

This one starts just like sending a file from your computer, but has the added benefit of allowing you to send files that you've already uploaded to Acrobat.com. You can also send files that you've converted to PDF with your PDF Pack subscription, as they're automatically stored up here, too. Easy access to your documents, people! Anyway, here's how you send a file from your Acrobat.com cloud storage:

Sign into your account at https://cloud.acrobat.com
Click on the Send tab (second from the left).
Click that big blue button that says “Select Files to Send.”
Here’s where things take a turn: in the left-hand pane of the Send dialog box, choose Acrobat.com. You’ll see all your Acrobat.com files appear in the dialog box. Choose one or several files, and then click Continue.
From here on out, just follow the above instructions for sending a file from your computer. (Except, well, you don't need to upload anything. Yay!)

Pro tip: If you like, you can send more than one file at a time and choose files from both sources at once.

View a file’s tracking information

You can check out the details of any file transaction you’ve done with Adobe Send. Here’s how:

You can view all your sent files in two ways:

In the Files tab, click on the file group in the left-hand pane that says “Sent Files.”
In the Send tab, click the link that says “View All Sent Files.”

Pro tip: If you sent more than one file in a single transaction, you can expand the view in your Sent Files list to show which files you shared.

Now you should be able to see each transaction, with the newest on top. Click on any of your sent files to preview the file and to see details.

From this page, you can do the following:

Unshare the file if you would like to prevent anyone else from previewing or downloading it;
Forward the transaction to new recipients;
Turn email notifications on and off;
See an overview of file previews.

You can click “View Full Activity” if you’d like to see detailed tracking information: not only when the file was previewed and by whom (for personalized links), but also whether it was downloaded and by whom. If there was more than one file in the transaction, Adobe Send will also tell you which files were downloaded.

Understanding what your recipient will see

When you send someone a file with Adobe Send, you might be curious what they’ll see when it arrives. Here’s how that looks:

First, they’ll get an email to tell them that the file has been shared with them.

When they click the link in that email, they’ll be taken to a web page where they can preview the file(s). If you’ve opted to get notifications, you’ll get an email notification as soon as they do that. They can also download the file(s) to their computer after previewing them.

As recipients of personalized links take actions (such as previewing or downloading files), Adobe Send tracks that information for you in your account and will send you emails with the pertinent information.

I’m trying to send an audio or video file from Adobe Reader, but it’s not working. Why not?

I’m trying to send a file from Adobe Reader, but I can’t access my computer’s address book to find my contacts. Why not?

If you’re using Adobe Send through the Tools pane of your free Adobe Reader software, you might notice the option to use your local Address Book. When you use this option, you can send the file to email contacts from the local contact list on your computer. This makes it even easier to send a personalized link to your file because you don't have to manually type each email address into Reader. Just open up your address book and pick one or more email addresses from your contact list. Easy peasy.

Please note: The ability to send personalized links with Adobe Send requires a subscription. Once you’ve subscribed to Adobe Send, you’ll be able to send personalized links to contacts stored in your Address Book. Click here for information on how to subscribe.

If you’ve already subscribed to Adobe Send and still can’t access your Address Book, please sign into Adobe Reader to enable the Address Book feature. To sign in, click the “Sign In” link at the top of the Tools pane. You can identify yourself in the dialog box that pops up, and use all the available Adobe Send features in Reader.

Turn off auto-renewal for your Adobe Send subscription

If you're an Adobe Send customer, you may have opted to let your subscription automatically renew at the end of each billing cycle. If you would like to turn off auto-renew (and let your subscription come to an end after the current billing cycle), please follow these steps:

1. Go to Adobe's home page at www.adobe.com

2. In the upper-right corner, click "Sign In" and use your Adobe ID to sign into your account.

3. You should now see the My Adobe page, where you can see all of your subscriptions and products that have been registered using your Adobe ID. If your Adobe Send subscription is visible under "My subscriptions", click the "Manage" link next to the product name. If not, click the "View All" link and find your subscription there.

4. You'll be taken to a page where you can view details of your Adobe Send subscription, including billing information and subscription status. Click “edit” in the renewal status row to change the auto-renew settings for your subscription.

Once you've turned off auto-renewal, your account will be returned to the basic (free) level at the end of the current billing period for which you have paid.
