Hello,

1 - I have form created in LiveCycle 8.1.2 and created a button to e-mail the customer returns filled with information, I did some testing on reads acrobat 8, 9, X, X1 for shipping but does not work. Only sends the Acrobat Pro.

2 - When sending Acrobat Pro in the body of the e-mail attached with default name. Someone has javaScript to name a field of the form.

Can someone help

Hide and Show Subforms not hidden

Good Morning,

It's been months since I've worked in LiveCycle, so I know that I'm missing something simple on this form.

In LiveCycle Designer ES4 I have a form with check boxes that trigger subforms to appear when checked.

I used Action Builder to to create these simple rules

Condition: "When check box CopyMachine is clicked" (Check box name)

Result: "Set Visibility of CopyMachineChoice to visible" (Subform name)

However on the PDF all the subforms are appearing.

What am I forgetting?

And do I need to create a separate event for the possibility of the User clicking, then unclicking a check box?

I have a table within a positioned subform and if there are more rows in the table than space in the subform, the data overflows past the boundaries of the subform. I want the data to be cut off at the boundary, such as how you can select for a field to "Limit Length to Visible Area" so that the text in the field doesn't go past the field size. I don't even want it to flow to another page, just cut it off so that it doesn't print over other fields that are below the subform on the page. Anyone know how to do this?

Here is what I would like to do... create an applications or a PDF file where I can import a .XDP file and list out all the XML binding values for text fields, date fields and floating fields for that .XDP.

Hi,

How can I add suffix to the data fields i.e. st, th, rd nd.

I have a requirement where I need to add the following text "1st Day of Jan 2014" or "23rd Day of Jan 2015".

I was able to format it as "1 Day of Jan 2014" using pattern as "date{J 'DAY OF' MMM YYYY}".

Any thoughts?

Text Field Align Bottom

I'm wishing to change the alignment of text fields from top alignment to bottom alignment. When right click the field and choose styles > create a new style > Value Text Formatting, I can change the vertical alignment. But I can't do this for many fields at once. How I can change or apply a style to many fields? The Style Editor is greyed out when I select several fields but yet when I'm in the style editor with one field selected I see a button on the bottom that says "apply to selection."

But, the vendor said they will build our app based on HTML5

Database connection is not working in Free Acrobat Reader

Hi,

I am working on a pdf that imports data from an sql server. I got it working flawlessly in livecycle and in Acrobat Reader Pro. But in Free acrobat reader it makes an index error on the click event on the button that runs the javascript for getting a record.

I applied reader extension from Acrobat Reader Pro, but never the less it won't work.

My question: Does Free Acrobat Reader support this kind of database lookup with RE enabled.

I have tried both with formcalc and javascript. Both works in livecycle and the pro version of acrobat reader.

I am only working on the client side and do not utilize livecycle server.

I have a multipage PDF I've designed in Livecycle and have print and submit
buttons on each unique form in the document. I am able to create code (which
I've copied from someplace) that allows only one page to print but when I click
the submit button it wants to submit the entire document. PS - I created
the Submit from the blank button and have it set to submit PDF not XML.

Hello all,

My form has an option for the user to delete subforms/records as needed. Acrobat does allow for Undo- so if my user accidentally clicks "delete", they're stuck.

I added an alert box to ask "Are you sure...", with "yes" and "cancel" buttons. But when I click the cancel button, it deletes anyway!

Here is the script I'm using:

XML database not loading

I have a xml database that has some information which is loaded into a drop down menu on my form. While I am in Live Cycle Designer and use the pdf preview, the dropdowns populate correctly and show what is in the database but when I open up the form in Adobe Reader, the dropdown show null. How can I remedy this problem?

Accessibility Checker

The Accessibility panel is blank in my 60 day trial version of LifeCycle Designer ES4. The documentation states to (Click Tools - > Macros -> Accessibility Check.) however Macros is not listed in my tools menu. When I view the form in Acrobat XI the accessibility pane is also blank even after running the “Setup Assistant.

Did I miss something or has anyone run into this?

Greetings!

I can't seem to figure out what I'm doing wrong. I need to edit the header text in this PDF, so I tried to do that in Acrobat PRO, which said: "This form cannot be edited in Acrobat. Please use Adobe LiveCycle Designer to edit this form." I got a trial version of LiveCycle to see if I could edit it. But when I open the PDF in LiveCycle, I can only edit the input fields. All of the labels, all the text, headers is uneditable. I can't select it, I don't see it in the PDF Hierarchy either. Half of the Edit Menu is grayed out. Can't copy or anything else. Please help me figure out why this happens. If you need the original PDF, let me know, I can send it to you. Thank you.

Hi everyone,

I have a form that lets you removed questions (tables). However if a user removes them, saves the PDF and then repoens it later, the removed questions are back. Anything that is typed will be saved, but the tables keep coming back. Here is a short video that shows what happens.

I searched the forum and found some posts that I think are similar but I can't get a solution to work. One invloved copying the script that deletes the table (code resides in the the click event) to the form:ready event. Here is the code from the click event that deletes the table:

Dynamically Change Company Logo

I want to create one form used by both of our companies. When the user selects their location, the cooresponding company logo displays at the top of the form including all new pages generated. I was able to get this working with JavaScript but ran into a problem when merging the data to a spreadsheet using Acrobat. The image data exports and creates a huge column of data in my spreadsheet. How do I prevent the image data from exporting to the spreadsheet? This problem does not happen with Acrobat version 10.0.0 but does occur with versions 10.1.11 and 10.1.12.

Text Form Field Automatic Rename / Numbering? Need help!

In Acrobat XI, using a pre-existing PDF made from tables within MS-Word, with hundreds of pages – and 50 or so answers per page (school workbook style Q&A lines and tables with just the bottom line visible for the answer).

I tried first with Live Cycle and it created some of the form fields - leaving me most to create myself.

As make one page and copy the fields from page to page, the field names are the same - therefore the data in the response is duplicated. Help tells me I need to rename each form field - how can I rename all the forms at once, or must I (please say no) rename them one at a time? There are thousands of unique answers and I need a way to automate the renaming - or a better solution. How do I automatically rename 1000’s of text fields?

Someone mentioned something about creating a Java script - about which I know nothing - but is that the solution? If yes – can someone tell me how to apply the script?

Also - if I get one PDF numbered, can I copy / paste form fields from one PDF to another? Assuming they are similar in size and shape etc. just to benefit from not having to number them all again.

OR:

As these files were first opened in LiveCyle from a PDF I made from a MS - Word doc - with thousands of tables as - some were recognized in LiveCyle - and numbered OK -

Must I go back to Word - and redo the "answer" boxes in a way that Adobe will recognize it as a form?

If yes, what is the defining criteria of a form in a blank PDF?

Or - can LiveCyle make a PDF form from within a Word Doc?

Prevent Image Data from Exporting

I have two company logos on the top of my form. When the user selectes which company they are located at, the cooresponding logo become visible. Unfortunitly, because the images are set to global binding (so they appear on each page) the image data exports to my spreadsheet. I need to modify and create some PDF Forms created by my colleague that have a regular licence of Adobe Pro 9. With that version the LiveCycle Designer was integrated, whereas now it's in a separate product. Since Adobe Pro 9 buying new licence option is not more available, can I buy a simple LiveCycle Designer licence to create and modify PDF Forms, or should I have to buy also an Adobe Pro XI licence?
If I don't buy an Adobe Pro XI licence, will I have some limitations?

Repeating Subform to Generate Text Field

Cant preview in Designer ES2

Went through a mandatory OS upgrade to Windows 7 along with several other updates. Since then, I can get into LC ES2 and open my forms but when I try to preview I get an error then LC shuts down. Anyone have any experieince fixing this problem?

I just realized that the known bug in live cycle is creating unnecessary lines of code to my form. I don't have the ability to update to the most recent live cycle. Is there any way to fix it without? Has anyone created a macro or something to remove all the extra lines? So far I have deleted a few hundred thousand occurrences of <?templateDesigner StyleID aped3?> and still going. Also afraid I am going to delete something I shouldn't.

Character limit of Text Field

we are facing the below stall in our project. If we give more number of characters in a multi line text field, this stall happens. However it does not happen with every text field. Is there any character limit for the number of characters for text field?? or is it the problem related to ntext datatype in sql server?

How do i dynamically update table of content page numbers as user inputs data and PDF gets larger?

I have a very large dynamic PDF and i have already built the table of contents but it only contains the title of each section (no page numbers). each item clicked focuses view on the corresponding Header of that section even if the page number changes. BUT now i need to add page numbers onto the table of contents page that will dynamically change as the document grows. I'm new to LiveCycle. Can anyone help? (I'm running LiveCycle ES4)

Subforms choice set from samples not working correctly

Hello,

I'm working on a form with a subform choice set in the header of the master page.

After a number of attempts I finally found an example from samples designer directory (precisely <designer_install_dir>\EN\Samples\Forms\Purchase Order\Form Fragments).

The form Purchase Order Dynamic.xdp use "Subform Choice Set" for the footer.

It works in the example which has one page only.

I tried to add some more lines to th first page in order to have a second page but on the second page it takes the wrong footer ("footerUS" instead of "footerCanada").

Each footer (US or Canada) is a fragments.

There is a way to solve the problem?

(I am using LC ES4 and Designer 11.0)

Adobe changes my numeric field to include commas when validation fails. My numeric validation setting is num{zzzzzzz9.99}. I want my numeric field to display as 99999999.00, no commas and only to have 2 decimals places. I added this validation to the Display, Edit, Validation and Data tabs under the validation pattern dialog box.

When validation fails, adobe changes the display of the field to include commas and drops the decimal places:

999,999,999

How can I prevent this from happening? Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

I've also added a change event to the field as well:

\\only allows numbers and period.

Form submitting even though required fields are empty

I have created a form that has several mandatory fields, which are all showing up with red boarders around them. When I try to submit the form without entering data into the first two mandatory fields on the form I get a pop-up box saying that not all of the required fields have been entered. However, if I enter data in those two fields and try to submit the form it goes ahead and submits, even though there are many other fields on the form that are required and are showing up with the red box around them. Why is my form able to submit even though these required fields have not been filled in?

I have designed a PDF form designed in Livecycle designer. The form has a submit button which invokes a servlet. The servlet receives the request and send a response in "text/html UTF-8". If have no browser or IE open when submitting the form, I receive a response that the form has been either successfully submitted or not. However, if I have Firefox open when Submitting, I get an Adobe Reader dialog box that says "An error occurred during the submit process. Cannot process content of type text/html utf-8".
When I look in the database, the form is successfully submitted. How do I make the adobe pop up to disappear and print the confirmation.

Duplicate Lines after Export to .xml and import into Excel

Hi,

I created a read-out form for a radiologic study. This form is filled out 150 times by three different radiologists. I collect the data which is emailed back to my as a .pdf in a Dataset.pdf. When I export the Data to an ".xml-File" and afterwards import it into Excel, it gives me severeal duplicate lines. Sometimes the data is distributed over 2-3 different rows, sometimes the exact same data is duplicated in 2-4 consecutive rows, etc. I don't see a pattern. If I export it as a .csv File, there is no problem.

Has anybody had the same problems? What do I have to do, that at the end in Excel I have one row for each dataset emailed back to me?

If necessary I can upload the form and publish the Link.

It's not really too important as I can still extract Data using the .csv export. I would just like to understand, why it doesn't work with .xml Export.

Hi,

I created a simple form with Livescycle and even if when i look at the PDF with adobe reader, i can see enought privilege, i cannot really save the content.

Basically, i can open the PDF, fill the fields, save the document but when i reopen the document afterward, the content has disapeared. If i look at the same PDF with notepad, i can see the values next to the field but the values are not visible anymore in the reader.

Hello!

I created a form with the adobelivecycle workbench embedded into SAP. This form contains a server signature.

When I generate a PDF archive without signature, all works OK. But when I include the code for generate PDF with server signature, content fields has disappear unless you click into the field.

In my case, I generate 6 different Adobe forms. Five works fine but one of them has this fail. For all, signature process is the same.

Downloading l_pdf content, works fine, but downloading l_out not work.
