I have Photoshop 5.0 LE the application does not work after changing the system for Win7 64bit. What can i do? Is it possible to upgrade the old version?

also it seems that trials from adobes site wudnt work proper, every time i tried to dload anything i got 'file not found'

When I click on Help>Updates the arrow circles around and then nothing happens. This function is not working. I was trying to install the latest ACR 6.6 but I couldn't do it through the automatic updater. I downloaded the file and tried to install it that way but when I double click on the file AdobePatchInstaller.exe nothing happens. Any idea why this might be happending?

I have old Photoshop upgraded to 5.5, which is fine for my needs, I still have original disks and serial number. My new laptop is Windows 7 and when I tried to install from disks there is no response, and a suggestion given was that I copy the files to C drive and run, but when I tried to run setup file in Photoshop folder from C drive, the message is 'the file version is incompatible with this version of Windows, refer to software manufacturer'. Has anyone managed to install 5.5 on Win 7? I'm not a teccie but I can follow instructions. Cheers, Maggie

Hey guys.. I hit this problem tonight after trying for several hours to open Adobe PS CS5.

Photoshop worked earlier today and i have made no changes on my PC since running PS again.

I am running Windows 7 Service Pack 1 64bit

I have tried Pressing CTRL+SHIFT+ALT to delete the Adobe Photoshop Settings File with no success.

I have rebooted my computer several times.

I have ran as administrator.

As far as I can tell it has something to do with KERNELBASE.dll

You guys are my last chance.. THANK !

Photoshop Problem on launch

I've Photoshop CS5.1, the problem is that when i launch Photoshop, it doesn't even appear the splash screen, it just appears:

"Adobe Photoshop had stopped working"

having trouble installing adobe photoshop (and illustrator) cs3

i have recently reformatted my computer (Windows Vista Business) and am trying to reinstall photoshop cs3 from a dvd and am having some problems. This dvd installed fine about a year ago when we upgraded the computer from xp to vista but now when i can get the dvd going (sometimes it freezes the computer) i get a couple of notifications:

CS4 Tool problems

I recently purchased a new computer, an HP with Windows 7 and loaded Photo Shop CS4. I have had a LOT of problems with the tools not working at all, or doing very sporadic, random things. I downloaded the current patch. Not sure how to solve this. Any ideas?

Photoshop CS crashes when using Save As

Until just recently, my Photoshop CS worked great on my Dell laptop running Windows Vista.

Now, whenever I try to Save As a photo file in Photoshop, the program closes without any error message. At times I can catch a glimpse of the dialogue box that normally appears when doing a Save As.

I have tried numerous things today to get Photoshop working, but nothing has helped. I did some maintenance on my computer, including disk cleanup, etc.; as well as uninstalling and then re-installing my Photoshop CS program, which I have on a disk. The rest of the program works fine, and I can do a Save and a Save For Web.

Does anyone have any tips for correcting this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

With a calibrated screen and Photoshop CS3 I am not getting the printed photo accurately.Why?

Photoshop diplays all images with desaturated colors (Images look fine when opened in other apps)

All of a sudden, when I open any image in Photoshop, the colors appear to be desaturated...In Photoshop only. When I open that same image in Window Picture Viewer, or Quicktimer, or even if I drag the image into a brower window, the colors appear fine. But in Photoshop, something is clearly wrong. Now, I can make color adjustments to the image, but when I save and reopen reopen it in another application, I can see that color changes have been made, but they still don't match what Photoshop is displaying.

The images are RGB image...I've checked the color space setings in Photoshop, and they are the default (Edit > Color Settings: North American General Purpose 2 / RGB: sRGB IEC61966-2.1 / CMYK: US Web Coated (SWOP) V2, etc, etc). I also made sure View > Proof Setup was set to: Working CMYK. I even reset Photoshop to it's default settings (by holding down CTRL-ALT-SHIFT on launching Photoshop)...But the images still appear desaturated when I open them in Photoshop...So, I don't understand how this is still a Photoshop problem...But then again, they look fine when I use any other application on my computer to open them, so it's clearly not an issue with my monitor.

The frustrating thing is, I haven't made any changes to Photoshop OR my monitor (that I know about)...Photoshop has worked perfectly for me for years, and now there's this SNAFU that I just can not figure out.

Any suggestions?

Photoshop CS5.1 stopped working

I have a problem with this one "thing" I did with Photoshop Extended. Every time I try to ray trace it (draft or final, it doesn't matter), I get the error message "Photoshop CS5.1 stopped working", and it always happens in the same spot (see the screenshot). I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate 64x and I have 8GB memory and all the drivers and updates are up to date. I'm new with this 3D stuff, I just recently upgraded to Extended, so I have no idea what's going on. The file size is only 2.3 Mb, so it can't be too big to handle. It could be that it's too complex, because I made the basic shape with the Ellipse tool and Rectangle Tool and then I stroke the path with soft brush, but I didn't get any message of it being too complex, which has happened to me before but I haven't got this stopped working message until now. I don't have any problem with any other 3D "things" I've tried recently.

CS5.5 Extended - problem with importing audio .mov files

I would like to import an audio file to my PS5.5 Extended. It supports .mov files, so I tried to File->Place a mov file exported from Audition CS5.5. But Photoshop says: "Could not place the document xxx.mov because the movie file could not be opened."

The mov file doesn't open in Windows Media Player either and the message is that the codec is unknown. But it opens without problems in QuickTime, as audio.

I am not sure if this is Audition or Photoshop problem, but the format, or codec which is used should be common to both programs, as they are from the same CS5.5 suite. By the way, I have all settings set to default in Audition. No idea what codec it is using.

My purpose is to import sound, and because PS Ext does not support sound files as such, I found a workaround in the internet to import a mov file. But it does not work for me..

Action for Replacing Contents of a Smart Object

I am using CS5/PS to create a collage created of several images (smart object layers) that I have positioned using individual clipping masks.

I would like to be able to replace the contents of the images, which I can do via Layer>Smart Objects>Replace Contents..., but I'd like to have an action for a "one-click" process instead of three clicks. Problem is, when I try to record the action, it requires me to complete the replacement, and then the action gets hard-wired to replace the image used in the action "record", and therefore doesn't allow me to select which image I'd like to use.

This functionality is available in PS Elements, so I believe it can be done. I'm sure I'm missing something pretty basic, I just don't know what!!

Photoshop's 'Skin' color

Hey guys! I do a lot of artwork using Photoshop Cs3 extended, and I love the program. My only problem that is that after a while the light grey color of the program starts to hurt my eyes. I was wondering if there was any way that I could change the program's color? It would really make it a lot easier on my eyes when drawing and doing other things with the program. Thanks!

HELP! Photoshop CS5 to CS5 Extended Install PROBLEM!

I had photoshop CS2 and Illustrator CS2 since they came out. I just recently (November of 2011)upgraded to Photoshop CS5 and Illustrator CS5, those installs went OK, I did forget my login info but a call to Adobe got that all figured out.

Now I only "Play" in photoshop and illustrator at home for my own entertainment, and really barely used the CS2, so I am still just a newbie playing around in photoshop and illustrator.

Anyways, after watching a bunch of Photoshop CS5 Videos, I realized that Photoshop had an "Extended" version with 3D I was unaware of. So I wanted the Extended version, I called Adobe and he said I was 37 days out on my Photoshop CS5, so all I could do now was Buy the Extended version or buy the Upgrade Extended version, since my CS2 was already used for the initial photoshop CS5 upgrade. But since I upgraded my Illustrator CS2 to CS5 a week later he said I could Return that if I wanted.

He brought that up in the convo, not I.

So I Bit the Bullet, AGAIN, and bought the Photoshop CS5 Extended Upgrade to Upgrade the Photoshop CS5 I had just upgraded too.

Let me say this, ALL are Legal Copies ALL Legit. (Before someone says anything about that.) CS5 Photoshop and CS5 Illustrator were bought from Amazon, by Amazon Not one of there outside sellers, and so was the Photoshop CS5 Extended Upgrade.

My Problem is, I cannot Install the Photoshop CS5 Extended? As I am installing it asks for the code, I type it in, then if has two photoshop things listed, one 64 bit and one 32 I believe. But also above them says "Already Installed" with a >! in a white dot. Hovering my mouse over it it says "If you select any of the below to install again it will be installed it the current file location."

I go through the Install and I still have the Regular Photoshop CS5 NOT the Extended Version???

Box and top of the DVD says Photoshop CS5 Extended on them. But the offered install files that are offered on it that say "Already Installed" above them in the installer , Neither one says anything about Extended just ADOBE PHOTOSHOP CS5.1 ??

I went to Adobe and talked to a live chat guy but after he took my email and ALL of my serial #'s for ALL of my Photoshop products, had me try installing it again, and then just said I had to Call Adobe Tech. (That was Useless, they should just CLOSE the live chat thing if they can't do anything.)

Anyways, with NO Photoshop CS5 Extended getting installed on my PC Win7 64 bit I3 cpu with 8 gigs of ram, my Adobe Account on my "View Product Registration" Page it now Lists the serial # and info as of 1-1-2012 as having Registered my Photoshop Extended Version 12.0 with all my other registered Adobe software.

So HOW can I get the Extended to actually Install? I Opened the files on the DVD and really don't see anything that even says Extended on any?

I had Amazon OVERNIGHT this Photoshop CS5 Extended Upgrade to me so I could as Bert Monroy says, "Play, just Play it's the best way to Learn Photoshop." over the new years weekend, now I sit here frustrated instead.

Maybe I will email him, maybe he knows what to do, he has always replied to my emails and has Signed my Photoshop books authored by him. (Nice guy very helpful.)

Hello all,

I was doing a peice of work when I accidentally deleted the RGB Lights found in Render --> Filter

I went to My Computer --> Program Files --> Adobe --> Photoshop CS5.1 Extended --> Plug-ins --> Filters and deleted it, Hoping next time I started PS It would

automatically be created again.

This was not the case and I cannot find an answer anywhere.

I don't want to have to re - install Photoshop.

I tried resetting my preferences with Ctrl - Alt - Shift and that did not work.

Could someone provide me with the Default Filters file for Photoshop CS5 Extended.

why is the image cropped?

Perhaps I haven't noticed this before...

Because of emminent system failure, I purchased a new PC with Windows7 (upgrade (?) from Windows XP) and then upgraded Photoshop to CS5 from CS3. However, I notice that when I rotate a "landscape image" and make it a "portrait", I find that the image appears to be cropped automatically, rather than retain the aspect ratio of the "lanscape image"; it appears that the former height in the landscape, becomes the new height in the portrait . I think it has something to do with the aspect ratio, as manipulating this seems to alleviate the symptom somewhat. It also appears to be present in the other image viewers that are not Adobe. Can anyone explain this and direct me to information on how to correct this problem?

I'm Pretty Sure This Computer Can Handle Photoshop, But not totally sure, Help?

CS4 psd file display problem

For some reason within the last few months a problem with the colors that Photoshop is displaying in the application. The colors are not actually wrong if you check the color picker, it's just how it actually looks when you're working on it. In addition, when you are moving the tab in Photoshop if it's not maximized, the color is correct.

Adobe CS5 bridge.exe keeps disappearing

I reinstalled my pc and went from Vista Premium to Windows 7 Premium. Installed PS CS5 64 bit and 32 bit (work mainly with the 64 bit version) and initially had a lot of problems. The software would abort immediately telling me I had not sufficient rigths (and icons on the desktop would then also disappear). Now I can start the software from the desktop using the option "run as administrator" (I have been logged on as administrator the whole time - am the only user of the pc). A bit annoying but it works (I do not have this problem with any other software). I do, however, still have a problem with bridge. It can only be started from inside PS itself. I made a link on the desktop and it worked at first. Then the icon disappeared and also the exe file could no longer be found in the pathfinder. I updated the software - got the exe file back after reinstallation of the updates but now the same thing happens.

Can anybody tell me what is wrong? I would hate to have to install the software again and have in fact already done this 3 three times so I doubt this will help me.

All other software (and I have plenty) behave normally.

I temporarily could not make the Eastman Kodak ROC Professional plug-in work in my PS CS5 so I tried other programs to use this plug-in in. I therefore installed an old PS Elements 5 and PS CS4 (my present PS CS5 is bougth as an update from CS4) . However now the plug-in works fine in my PS CS5 and I of course prefer to work in this. I have, however, acquired a new problem: The only way I can open picture files in PS CS5 is via the files menu in Photoshop itself. If I try to open via Bridge (and it is Bridge CS5) I can only open the files in PS CS4. I cannot deinstall PS CS4. Bridge CS5 states that "open in PS CS4 is the default action".

Sorry if this is a foolish question.

When I try to save a PS file either as PS or a Photoshop PDF, I get the above message. Haven't had this problem before. I am on CS2 9.0.2, Mac is a G5 PowerPC 3.1 chip. Before this message came up, I had a problem of bringing a layer forward, and then one getting out of a text layer, where the program seemed frozen. I am a total novice on PS and software - any experience of this one?

Yet Another CS5 Strange Printer Behavior

All of a sudden, when I open the print dialog it is set to the right printer (Epson R1900), but it wouldn’t take any changes. Clicking “Printer settings…” generated a message “because the requested printer does not exist.”

One way to overcome this is to select a different printer and then switch back to the Epson. Printer settings can now be changed, but only for one printout. Trying to print the same picture again does not recognize the printer. Also, using this method, the number of copies to print has no effect.

Another solution, mentioned by others, is to set the Epson to be the default Windows printer. However, if the number of copies was previously set to a number greater than one, the printer is set as the default printer, and a picture is printed while the number of copies is 1, the driver “remembers” the previous settings and prints multiple copies.

It’s about time Adobe fixes the printing problems in CS5.

Make Realistic Looking Gold

How do you make a realistic looking Gold in Photoshop? I have tried using Layer Styles and using Gradient Overlay > Metallic Styles > Gold but at best that looks just okay and many time not the best. I have not found a tutorial that shows decent looking gold in PS. I know it can be done because I have seen it done yet I cannot replicate. Can someone help give me some guidance on the best way to create realistic looking gold effects in PS.

How do I make white into a color

I will preface this by admitting I am still relatively new to Photoshop ... started using it about 2 weeks ago.

I have some white colored words that I cannot seem to change into a color. Any ideas on how to change these?

I have tried the following:

a) Image -> Adjustments -> Change Color

Then I use the eyedropper to select my white letters.

The selection are in the bottom (of H, S, and L) show only white when I move the sliders.

b) Color Replacement tool.

I have tried setting the background to a variety of colors from the Swatch panel - but when I select a white area and brush it, nothing changes.

c) Image -> Adjustments -> Selective Color

Then I selected White, and tried different settings for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black ... no change, the letters remain white.

If you have any ideas, please share.

I will preface this by saying I am new to Photoshop.

The Problem? I have a family logo on a solid black background. This is not a photograph. I want to change the solid black background to a custom green color. This sounds simple enough, but I cannot get Photoshop to change the black to green for me. Here is what i have tried so far.

1. My file is a 16-bit RGB TIF file. I have saved the file as a RAW file and a PSD file and neither of these work. So I assume the problem is not the TIF format.

2. I have tried this.

Image -> Adjustments -> change color.

I can use the eyedropper to select the black (in the background) and the preview shows the black selected.

However, when I move the HUE slider below, the color stays black. It does not change color.

If I type in the Hue Saturation and Lightness numbers for my color, the background will change, but it changes to gray, not my color.

3. I have tried this

I set my background to the color I want. (A custom color I created, of R:34 G: 139 B:34)

I click on BrushTool -> Color Replacement Tool

Settings on the horizontal tool bar are

Mode: color Sampling: Once Limits: Contiguous Tolerance: 5%

I then click on the black background, but it stays black. It does not change to the color I specified.

(I have also tried Discontiguous, different modes, different sampling, etc. Nothing works).

I will note that if I set my background to blue (R:0 G:0 B:255), then the Color Replacement Tool works.

It will change the black background to the basic blue color.

It just will not work for the custom green color that I created.

It also will not work for most of the other default colors in PHotoshop.

This is probably trivial for some of you, but I have spent a couple hours listening to tutorials on youtube and trying various things, and I am stuck. Would appreciate your wisdom.

cs5 64bit issue

I just got photo shop cs5 extended. I am running a computer with windows 7 ph 64 bit, when I run pscs5 64 when I load a image all I see is the checkerboard back ground, butwhen I click on the background of the workspace it shows the image have to use the magnifiing glass to do this, but when image size is changed it shows the checkerboard again. It seams to work ok in 32bit mode. Is there a setting I need to change or is this an install issue?

Scanning into WIA - Changing the default Destination Folder

Is there a way to change the default destination folder?

Owl Orphanage: Photoshop.exe - Entry Point Not Found

Using Photoshop CS5 64 bit on Windows 7. New problem recently started. Whenever I try and open PSCS5 I get the following error. I then click OK and PS opens without further problem.

OWL Orphange: Photoshop.exe - Entry Point Nont Found. The procedure entry point ONPreviewLayerRelease could not be located in the dynamic link library ONImaging.dll. Any suggestions?

How do I Load Photoshop 7.0 on Windows 7 64 bit?

Please help! I have a Photoshop 7.0 software disc which I tried to load on my new Windows 7 system. It stops the install right after Win7 asks the security question: do I want to continue allowing the software to change my system (load software). It simply stops and nothing else happens. I've re-tried several times with the same results.

Is it possible to load the software on my system? How?

Print preview is over saturated

When printing I check the print preview box, everything is fine until I hit the print button and it puts up the preview window which says to either print or cancel.

When the preview button is up all the colors are way oversaturated like yellow/very light red become very dark red and light green leaf's become very bright green etc.

If I hit the print button the printer print with the correct colors.

The initial print window is correct (the one where I select the printer/and with or not photoshop or printer controls the colors)

I have photoshop controls colors, color controls turned off in the printer, the correct printer paper profile selected, etc

Running the latest version of CS5 and Camera Raw. I have a Epson 3880.

This has been happening for as long as i can remember.

I'm desperate for help!

I have a photoshop file that has hours, weeks, months of work into it. I tried to open it today, and it says,"This document contains Adobe Photoshop data which appears to be damaged. Continue and ignore the Photoshop data? I then click on "Yes," and then it says, "Could not complete your request because the file is not compatible with this version of Photoshop."

I made this file with this version of Photoshop, so I'm not sure what that's all about. Also, I made several copies of it and stored it in several places, but when I try to open any of them, they all say the same thing.

This could drive me to drink!! I could just cry. I won't be able to replicate it and it's my main client. It's for a website. I thought I was safe because I made several copies at various times.

I have Photoshop CS4 Extended, Windows version.

How do I install second party plugins?

Curious as I did it in CS4, but CS5 is giving me trouble or I had a lapse. I wish to install Topaz Fusion express 64 bit, Wacom Intous tablet, photo matrix pro, and Nik Viviza. I thought I would start with the Topaz labs fusion express, I navigated to the the Photoshop/ preferences/plug ins/ checked the additonal plug in folder box then navigated PS to program files (X86)/common files/topaz/fusionexpress, the the EXE files is not visible from within the Photoshop program. The EXE file is there when I navigate to it using my computer. I do not know why is did not import the plugins in when I downloaded and lauched the PS install wizard in CS5 as LR3 did. If you can help me with the other plugins mentioned above it would be great as I do not wanna screw this up. All of these are compatible with 64 bit as they worked in CS4.

3rd Party Plug-Ins

Recently I have been messing with Topaz Labs Adjust. It has some pretty cool effects. My question is does Topaz Labs (and other 3rd party plugins) add anything themselves to Photoshop (beyond a nice graphical interface) or is it just combining Photoshop's Current tools in a easy to use way to produce the effects?

After using the patch tool in CS4 I am unable to use the clone tool without closing photoshop and restarting it. Any ideas why this is happening?

Broken ICC Profile?

Photoshop is giving me a broken ICC profile message on a certain JPEG that was saved in CMYK color. Not all of the ones from the batch, just this one.

When I open it, I get an error about the ICC profile being broken, and Continue or Cancel. If I click Continue, I get a distorted RGB image (equivalent to opening a CMYK JPEG with Irfanview, for instance, or some other application not supporting CMYK).

Unfortunately I don't have the originals at the moment. Is there any way to fix the ICC profile, to make Photoshop recognize it as CMYK?

Eyedropper Selects Wrong Color

Im using Photoshop CS5 (version 12.1 x64).

When I try to use the Eyedropper Tool on a thin (1-4 pixel) shape (both pathed and raster) it will select the incorrect color and only give me a lighter, similar color.

This is me clicking right in the middle of this red line using the "pricision cursor" and it selects this pink color.

I did not have this problem in previous versions of Photoshop.

Anyone know why this is happening?

Content Aware Using Wrong Background

Hi Guys

I'm trying to animate someone moving their arm. I used the pen tool to copy the arm to a new layer (left image) then used the pen tool again to cut out where the original was. I clicked "fill", "content aware" to fill in the hole, which should be a girl's blouse but the content aware fills the space with parts of her face and hair (right image), which isn't anywhere near where the fill is. Am I doing something wrong or have I overlooked something obvious?
