Why can't I select "Extract Assets" in my PSD?

Hello,

For whatever reason, I cannot select "Extract Assets" in the right-click menu of layers. I've done this before several times with success, so I'm not sure what's going on here.

I've rasterized the layer types & styles. The extract assets option is grayed out and not selectable under the File menu item either.

Any ideas?

hello, I'm a sports science student with a passion for helping people. I always get asked questions from novice gym users who don't know where or how to start. I'd like to create a website that allows them to find all they need to know In one place with all scientifically studied results and articles about supplements training etc. But also that based on a number of variables will give them a program to follow, free of charge. I downloaded dreamweaver and am at a loss about how to use it, I am very tech savi but not with web design.

I Have thought through a design.

The home/welcome page will be plain and simple with a introductory paragraph with a button saying 'get started' or a button saying 'I've already started' one will take them to a page that has variables such as height, weight, age, body fat, goals and experience, and through this information spit out a program, I know how to use all variables to create a routine (with my formula ofcourse) and obviously the other button will lead to there already created program. The program itself will allow for a befire photo and constant recent photoa to be uploaded, also a table for day to day weigh ins and progress check on weight lifted in the gym. On the far right of the page I want to have a seperate scroll down bar with titles of various articles about different areas of fitness.

I Know this seems like a lot but i have the contacts to get users on to the site but I need good design to keep them there. Is all of this possible on dreamweaver?

I call this file "maincontent.inc.php" from another file "index.php" in the root directory using a php include statement. <?php include("include/maincontent.inc.php"); ?>

I have tried absolute links also but nothing seems to work.

I have had this problem before and just put the include file in the root directory. That works.

Have had this same problem with a sample from a php book. Figured if the author can do it why can't I :-(.

Hello,

I am looking to create a website to host my YouTube videos, photographs, other information and a blog, and possibly an online store in the future. I don't know where to begin with this because I'm not sure how easy websites are to update once they have been uploaded (unless you use an online website maker).

Could someone please advise me on what software I should use (I have created a business website for someone using Muse in the past but it doesn't need regular updating), and also how I should have the website hosted?

Hi there was wondering if anyone could help me I noticed this error occurred on all the pages of our companies website. The site was made via word press by a web designer I have basic admin privileges and tried to add a Meta Tag to the site. The reason behind this was that I needed to Associate our website with YouTube so that I could direct video viewers to the site via click-able links/annotations in the videos.

It seemed like a simple task but failed because I had restricted access to the editing capabilities (Some features like editor were just blanked out) and also because I am not a web designer, I fiddled with inspect element within the site and tried to add this tag via the back end of the website with inspect element adding the Webmaster tools tag for YouTube to the website in inspect element under the <head> section of the code as that was what I had read off Google's instructions. The big problem was that I had no access to the editor in WP the page was blank even though I am an admin. Basically all that was available and not blank in WP was contacts calendar plugins the last few bars. What I did was inspect element and try add the meta tag underneath the current tag and this didn't work or even stay there. You see what I thought as a none qualified web designer and no experience with code was ahh its easy cause I can't access the editor pane i can try inspect element and add code manually it then would work? Haha never again ill stick to Photoshop and AE, PR ect[see image bellow]

(So yes this was the biggest mistake not knowing what I am doing but then again I had no contact with the web designer or details at the time). This is when I went to YouTube to try verify the associated website and as you guess it didn't obviously work because I didn't have a clue on what I was doing. I did this about a few times in different area's of the WP bars like appearance and themes etc. Finally I gave up and when I logged out of the back end of the WP Dashboard ect I saw the errors on the site it was not fun but then again I will always leave these things to the web designers in the future.

So I guess the amount of times i tried to add it via inspect element caused the errors?

I have contacted the web designer and explained this but he is asking me?

"I am still not sure which file you edited to create the error. Please can you advise which file you edited (filenname) "

So my question is what do I tell him in terms of fixing this problem?

Also maybe what is the solution so that I can inform him?

Lastly what happened here was this the actions of my mistake haha I am sure it is but what can you make of this how did this happen?

Best program for web design - no programming

Hi there,

I'm a graphic designer and I specialize in print design, but do web design on occasion. I have very little programming skills so it's always handed off to a developer. My quesiton is, what is the best program to design websites for the programmer? I just started using fireworks, and got really excited about the fact that the png could be interactive so that you could show how you wanted actions to appear. However... when I got to the point of doing type I realized that just wasn't going to happen. Is the best way around this to design the type layout in indesign and then import it into Fireworks? I was editing images in photoshop before importing them into fireworks so it makes sense. I'm just wondering if there is an easier way or if I'm missing something.

Coding a Call to Action Non-Image Map Best Practices

This is my first post. Sorry if it's in the wrong place... What is the best practice for coding a "button" on a hero?

I have a new Web Production gig and we get .psd files from Creative - big images w/ call to action button(s) on the graphic (see below).

The current process is to slice and lay out in tables and image map the CTA(s).

1. Would it support quicker production, responsive design and analytics to code the call to action as HTML (css)?

2. What is the best practice for versatile coding of the button?

a) There may be more than one per image

b) There will be different position, background-color, color values

I want to be able to use css classes to control:

a) Background color

b) Font (link) color

c) Positioning

d) Line-height (right now just using padding)

e) Width

I would want the designers to not even know that I wasn't using their CTA image.

At this point, I don't care about hover or mouseover.

3. Any thoughts on coding this as a div and an href rather than using <button>?

If I preview each light box on a different page the all work alright. But if I put all of them on a single-page design they disregard the embed code and go directly to the website that host the video (vimeo).

What can I do to make it work? What am I doing wrong?

I've been using CS6 and that's what I'm used to but I'm open to switching all my apps to CC if this is what other professionals suggest. Help I'm really stuck.

I have designed the signature in Dreamweaver and placed the image in my public folder on Dropbox. Everything looks ok when I preview it in Safari but when I eventually place it in Mac Mail (after much faffing) with the .mailsignature files the image is not linking

I must be missing something!

I designed a site for a guy who loved music, wanted to own a Hiphop News Site.

So I we talked about it for a day or so, and He insist that he pay everything upfront 100%

After about a 5 day wait, It was nearly done.

Looked good, but when I asked if he had any social networking ( Facebook, Twitter, Instagram account for the Hiphop News Site ) he told me he didn't want any.

So I pressed forward and got it done in three more days.

On the day it was done, He sent me a Facebook message and said " I want News, Music, Albums, Videos, and a Home page instead of the original five pages, and get it done by tomorrow " As I told him a whole new site change were to take at least a week, He stopped replying, but I sent it to him via email.

I messaged him over Facebook and asked him to chest his email, and he never replied.

I now have about two weeks worth of site work under my belt, A domain under my name ( Its in my list of domains I own ), A professional email account that Im paging out of my pocket for monthly, and still no word from the guy, AT ALL.

Id like to redo it to someone else's standards ( If you ask me its a pour site due to the guy being so simple and demanding, not wanting to do anything good with it ) and sell it to them, but Im not sure if I legally can.

If you were in my spot ( Considering you're a great guy / lady, I already know a lot of Adobe people who reply are actually AMAZING people! ) What would you do?

Hello!

I'm in the process of designing some web banner ads and although Photoshop and Flash are the first obvious choices for designing them, I'm not sure what is the best choice. I've created simple animated GIFs with Photoshop but the client might be looking for something a little more complex as far as animation.The requirements for these ads are below and don't know if this limits what I can and can't do and/or application to use or not use.

728x90px ad, no larger than 80kb, .jpg or .gif format

PNG image size increases on upload!

Hi all,

Not sure if anyone can help with this, i am exporting artwork created in Illustrator as a PNG file, which i then compress using smush.it for use on a website, these are product images and i am using Magento.

The compressed size of the PNG is 35kb with dimensions of 1000x1400px, when i upload this image via magento it increases the size of the file. The resulting PNG when downloaded is now 265kb in size! which is much bigger then the initial 35kb file i uploaded.

Is there anything i can do to retain the original file size? is there something i should be doing that I'm not?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi,

Wondering if anyone here could please help me. I have a website that I want to use html5lightbox with. Unfortunately the lightbox is having issues on Android where it appears to layer a skin with a playbutton and then android loads is default player and the lightbox button will not disappear when you click play. Picture below.

I am using html5lightbox free version so don't get support. Here is also a link the website to see the issue but like I say it only affects Android Tablets.

Hello, I don't currenly use CC but i have been tasked with retro fitting http://www.cleanerlondon.com for a potential client, I've seen to edit and preview changes not only to the desktop version but also on multiple browser width and various devices.

Can anyone advise how it would be better using CC over other applications that do these tasks more specifically but separately (notably : coda, codekit, mixture, ghostlab) .

I'm u sing Adobe CC, an advanced user of AI and PS, familiar with DW and HTML and have created decent emails using a bulk email template as a starting point.

I'd love to create graphic emails like this:

Company A contracts with me to design a website for one of their clients. Company A also contracts with someone else to develop the website. I use Photoshop to design the website and hand off the PSD files to the developer. Since I'm a Creative Cloud subscriber, I have access to Typekit and have tried to use Typekit web fonts. Here's the problem....I can put in the domain for the client website, publish, and give the script to the developer, but if she's not a CC subscriber and isn't able to "retrieve" the fonts I used when she opens the Photoshop file (not that important since she gets a flattened JPG, too), but she can't display the correct font while developing offline. Is there a work-around that she can use to make sure it's displaying properly, before uploading the site and having it go live (she previews on Company A's server as she's developing)?

Im fairly confident with Html at this stage, Im learning Css at the now at the moment, I understand the box model and some other basics of css, where should I go from here ? what should I be concentrating on learning in css etc ?

Suggest program to make gif animations

Since Adobe's ImageReady is no longer in Creative Suite, I'm wondering which program to choose to make small, short gif animations? If possible - please include address where to download tutorial.
